They serve their purpose. They assist in the right environment of harsh lighting, photo-sensitivity, cluster-headaches, migraines, and other “white noise” you will not understand till you don’t see anymore. For some reason people on the internet thing this product is a joke. Well coming from someone with complete constant migraines, extreme pain, & partial paralysis I do not. The truth is, the product is what the user does with it. If you choose to stick it on the top of your head and claim it doesn’t work, don’t bother writing a review about your idiocy.

The product successfully removes extreme white balances exhibited by white high color temperature fluorescent lights that cause extreme eye strain and in my case migraines. In simple terms, T8 fluorescent lights in office buildings are cheaper, per bulb, the “higher” the color temperature is and appear “brighter” just like HID lights on a car. Appearing brighter and being brighter are not the same thing. For example Blue HID lights at 9,000 color temperature are blue or violet and are not optimal for night vision. HID lights at 4,500 color temperature are optimal for long distance viewing. The same Applies with fluorescent lights in buildings. Lights that are higher color temperature are meant for 25 to 50 foot ceilings, not 15 foot ceilings. For someone with photosensitive eyes, this is a huge problem. Your eyes adjust, but at the cost of clarity and eye strain as well as mental fatigue.

Computer screens also have an issue of white balance and extreme contract variations. Ever notice most webpages have lots of white in them? The OSHA guidelines for computer user are having to be expanded because of this, and how it effects the eyes. The worse the webpage, the longer break your brain needs.

Ever notice fog-lights are yellow in Japan? Yeah, it is just JDM and looks cool….Wrong. It may look cool, but fog-lights are yellow because yellow is a lower color temperature and pierces the fog so you can see. Same thing with old style light bulbs. They may use more energy, but they do not cause eye strain because they are lower on the color strain.

My point is, give up trying to get the correct color strain and try a pair of these on. It will take time for your brain to adjust, so don’t expect to see Avatar colors the first 10 seconds you have them on. You will noise after about the 3rd day at a computer screen at a cubical or desk that when you take them off, the white lights hurt your eyes and everything gets fuzzy. That is a normal reaction to white light, and it is what you have been dealing with all along.

There are 3 things this product does poorly.
    1. Advertisement:
This is the reason everyone made a show of their claims and poked fun at it. They didn’t explain how and when to use them. If I were to do it differently, here is what I would put.
Driving at night, dusk, or dawn.
    Office Cubicles with White Light
When you go from a light to dark environment or dark to light environment
When using a high contrast monitor at less than 15 feet distances
When using a monitor at night
When you have issues with people’s headlights blinding you. (HIDs)
    2. Product Support:
Mine developed a scratch on the coating, so I asked the company what I could do it fill it, clean them, or have them repaired. I got a support representative that emailed me the exact thing I said to them, reworded in a question. No resolution and no suggestions. That is a fail for customer support. The coating is removable so you cannot polish, clean, or fill scratches with anything but a microfiber cloth. That is the answer I found.
    3. Extremely Yellow:
The company should offer a variance of the yellow balance in their product. Some people do not need the full yellow blaze these give you, just a little rounding off of the top of that color temperature range. Some people have issues with Red, so they should offer a variance of that color since it has the longest wavelength. I think if they reduced the yellow intensity by 30%, the product would not only look less yellow, but the product would do a much better job of being clear without confusing your brain into thinking everything is yellow now. Personally I do need the whole yellow these offer, so I don’t mind it.

99 Dollars is pretty cheap instead of years of eye strain, 5 years for doctors and optometrists to understand what I just described, running into things, road rage because you can’t see because someone blinded you with HID lights, running into things because they are white and you don’t see them, doctor’s bills, headaches, specialists, co-payments, insurance issues, glasses, eye tests, medicine, and it goes on. The average co-payment is 25 to 100 dollars, so what do you have to lose?

I tried other computer glasses and these are the best I’ve worn so far.

    Pros:
After daily use in office setting, they do not show any scratches. I had another popular pair that had a deep gouge the same day I opened the package, so this is a nice feature (true scratch resistance).

They do not make the whole world seem yellow so much as they make the whole world seem very blue when you take them off before your eyes can adjust. It’s not an overwhelming tint, in other words. Yet, my eyes feel much more rested after long bouts of computer work.

They have just a hint of magnification. I was prescribed +.50 bifocals that are still too strong to be useful to me but the eye doctor felt that was necessary to reduce my eye strain. Turns out, the blue-light blocking of these and their minor magnification is exactly what I needed. Also, I required no adjustment, no “Okay, now I feel dizzy” periods – My eyes didn’t have to get used to these glasses.

    Cons:
The price at $70-$80. But, you know, I have a $400+ pair of special coated, special material, graduated bifocal glasses from an eye doctor that don’t feel any more expensive than these Gunnars and they actually do not help my eye strain and headaches like the Gunnars. The price feels fair to me comparatively.

Me funcionan bien, cuando paso horas en la computadora ya no se me cansa la vista y al quitarmelos veo un poco más claros los colores.

When I first heard about these glasses I was very skeptical, just as you probably are, too. I couldn’t believe that just having glasses like these could help my headaches and sore, tired eyes. I work on computers all day and do programming at night. I don’t play video games and these glasses are geared mostly to the video game crowd.

I took a chance and ordered them here knowing that if I didn’t like them I could return them. After living with them for a few weeks, I’m not going to return them. This particular style is light-weight and I like the shape of the lenses. It takes a few hours or days to get used to the slight yellow (bronze?) tint of the monitor, but now I barely notice it. What I do notice is my eyes feel less sore and less tired at the end of the day. It’s a bit strange taking them off and looking at the screen after wearing them for a few hours. Without the glasses the screen looks too bright and ‘harsh’.

I’ve used f.lux on computers in the past and that was a good solution for me back then. Now, I feel like the glasses do more for me than f.lux. My headaches, which I had when using f.lux too, are gone, for the most part. My eyes don’t feel tired and they look less bloodshot at the end of the workday.

If you’re on the fence about spending this much money for glasses (without a prescription), give it a try. If they’re not for you, you can always eBay them for more than you paid.

Lamento no haberlas comprado hace años. Las gafas tienen además una buena estética, lo único negativo quizás es que las lentes son demasiado pequeñas.

I have been an IT professional for 15 years and wish I had purchased these all 15 years ago!

I recently started working in an office with direct flourescent overhead lights and i noticed that i had severe eye strain. The strain was great enough to cause headaches and I was having issues sleeping.

From the first day I put these glasses on, the eye strain is completely gone! The frames are very professional for an office environment as well!

I also play PC and console games on a bright LED TV. These glasses have extended the time I am able to play by reducing eye fatigue there as well.

Absolutely worth the money if you have strained or dry eyes at the end of your workday or game playing sessions.
