Lauren Dygowski –
A few months ago, I bought a value for money guitar and everything was great apart from the tuners. When tuning the guitar, the standard tuners would ‘jump’ making it difficult to be precise with the tuning.
I was apprehensive about swapping the machine heads and worried about whether the screw positions would be in the same spot as the originals. Also would more expensive ones be a better buy.
I need not have worried. The Guyker machine heads are well made, quite solid feeling and fit perfectly on my guitar. The locking mechanism makes changing strings a lot quicker and hold the strings in tune as you would hope the would.
I went from some 11 gauge string down to 9 gauge and it took a little while for the guitar to settle into the lighter gauge. The following morning was delightful, picked the guitar up and all stings were still ‘spot on’ in tune.
I’d have no hesitation in recommending these tuners, great value for money and an ideal upgrade to the stock tuners.

I used a set of these 3+3 locking tuners on the prototype for one of my recent builds, and there are some clear pros and cons:
The Good –
* The price is definitely great!
* I really like the screw locks which hold the strings. They’re extremely easy to use!
* Once the strings are broken in (3 or 4 days), they hold tune quite well thereafter.
* They look pretty nice on a guitar, and
* They are fairly smooth for such inexpensive machine tuners.
The Bad –
* One of the six bushings on my set was very rough to get it threaded onto the tuning peg, and it was excessively tight to turn. It did not strip on me, thank goodness, but that was my fear the whole time.
* I said above they are smooth. That’s so long as you’re tuning in one direction (tightening string tension, for example). As soon as you reverse direction (loosen string tension), there’s very noticeable play before it catches on the gear again and resumes smooth movement. A higher quality tuner has no play in it.
* The tuner with the tight thread above also has an extremely tight turn to it. Ironically that one is on the high “E” string, and I’m always thinking it’s going to snap the string which it did with the first .09 I put on. So far the second .09 has held up.
Time will tell, but I’ll update is anything changes.

Definitely better than the stock machines on the Grote 335 style semi-hollow body I bought right here on Amazon.
These locking tuner machines fit right on to the above mentioned guitar with no modifications at all which I was not expecting! Pleasant surprise indeed! So if you’ve got the same guitar as me, go for it! The black looks so sweet on this model instead of the silver/chrome. Looks quite more elegant and expensive in my opinion.
The machines are very stable, silky smooth and feel quite substantial. The locking bit is quite nice and doesn’t feel rough when tightening. I didn’t notice any sharp edges on the clamping pieces where the strings go inside as others have mentioned though it’d be a good idea to check first.
For under $40 I’ve got absolutely nothing negative to say!
I would recommend to any family or friends with no hesitation.

I love these locking tuners. It speeds things up when changing strings and action is fairly stiff—even without a string on it. Allows for very precise adjustments.

I bought a black 6 in line set of these for my new Ibanez and they are fantastic quality and precise with little to no backlash at all . Gears feel tight and I love the 1:21 gear ratio that these offer . I bought this chrome 3+3 set for my Ibanez GAX 70 lefty and will be installing them this afternoon . I don’t see why anyone would spend $100+ on a set of elite locking tuners when these are just as accurate at a fraction of the price . I highly recommend GUYKER tuners. I think they are the best value on Amazon for a high quality affordable set of locking tuners and the locking pins lock down tightly on the strings with no slippage whatsoever . Great product , great price !!!

I’ve used these tuning machines on 2 other guitars with great results. The last set I received would not hold a high 9 E string. It seems the post is too short. The thumb screw bottoms and the string slides out when you try to tune. I tried switching the thumb screw with a machine from another string with the same result. I simply wound the string several time like a conventional tuning machine but that really defeats the purpose of locking machines. Not sure I would purchase again.

Great upgrade for my epiphone lp had to make the holes a bit larger, doing that didn’t take much effort and I already knew I had to. The comment below talking about the high e not holding is not true I’ve put 3 sets of strings through these (trying to find what I liked) and all of them held you just have to look at the post and make sure you’re pulling the tension towards the side that clasps onto it better I decided to sand two of them a little and I mean thousandths of an inch just to make the tip more flat basically creating more surface area for the string to find but I didn’t have to just personally thought it would help.. they hold a tune fairly well and as you can see in the photos some of them don’t even have a quarter wrap I think it looks clean and they are quick to tune. Make sure if you’re tuning down to watch your strings and pull/form the thinner strings they can and do break if you’re not careful. They hold tight on the strings and i haven’t had any issues with them coming loose. I did learn to watch the hole as you clamp them just to make sure I got the strings firmly. I do recommend these if you’re going this route (budget wise) plus these looks great and have slightly smaller knows than stock so they just look cleaner. Finally these are well built I’ve had them for about month playing a couple hours a day and I haven’t regretted purchasing in any way!

As many buyers I presume, I start by looking at the bad reviews and it of course got me worried!
Well, I’ll tell you now, I have only good things to say! Installing is super easy, didn’t have to drill, screw holes aligned perfectly.
I measured and they geniunely have a 1:21 ratio, precisely.
The main reason for changing the original locking tuners on my Ibanez – other than the ease of putting on new strings – was that I hoped to improve the tuning stability. The current Ibanez tuners would go drastically out of tune after a playing session or even over night…not anymore! 🙂
Despite it being winter now, meaning that the differences in temperature are really high between when the heat comes on and off at night, it stays very much in tune! (of course a very slight tuning is always necessary, as it would with any guitar tuners, but it’s very much playable immediately).
At this price point, there is definitely nothing better and I wonder if there is really any worthy improvement with some of the more expensive and established locking tuner brands out there?

My Ibanez Iceman IC500B was one of my favorite looking guitars, but the stock tuners were terrible. When asking around, people insisted it was the nut. But I filed it and kept it lubed… I knew it was the tuners. I took a chance on these. They were rated well, but I’m not familiar with the brand. I’m glad I did! They were essentially a drop-in replacement. They look great and feel great to use.
My only issue is that my guitar has always had a heavy headstock, and I replaced the original metal buttons with ebony, as they’re much lighter. Unfortunately, these Guyker posts are too thick, and ebony buttons (which have a standard sized hole) won’t fit.
I suspect these will last the life of the guitar. If anything changes, I’ll be sure to update this review.

I upgraded some tuners to lockers and these have proved reliable and nice to use.

I looked for these for a while.Nothing fit my Firefly Doublecut (w/P90,s) until I found these.I’m glad I did.Made my guitar 100% better.Love the 1:21 gear ratio.Amazingly precise and a fine product all the way round. It’s really nice to find this kind of quality for a reasonable price.
