It was time for my old Oster blender to go and I wanted to get a good food chopper. Enter this Hamilton Beach 2-in-1 and I get 2 appliances in the same counter space footprint. A little more storage for the chopper accessory. My expectations for a food chopper are pretty basic and the chopper accessory with the included “S” blade does all I am looking for. The blender side blows away my 20 year old Oster blender easily. No shade on Oster; it was old and pretty tired.
So I’ll start off with saying I’m pretty darn pleased with this blender with a chopper accessory. I don’t really use the travel jar so it’s nice if things change but not important to me.
This unit has a 950W motor which is a lot more than my old Oster. It makes quick work of ice cubes; frozen margaritas are delightful on a warm summer day with friends! All the other blender usual uses I have are very well met. Mostly smoothies with frozen berries and fresh fruit. They all fully meet my satisfaction.
The food chopper has made quick work of garlic, herbs and anything I’ve thrown at it. With a light touch it makes a killer salsa which is an excellent complement to the aforementioned margaritas. Yum.
The whole thing is well designed for disassembly and easy cleaning. I have no complaints with the design. I like that the main blender glass. It has that good solid feel I like. The chopper and travel cup are plastic but seem well made. Perfectly fine for their purpose.
As I have come to expect Hamilton Beach manuals are very basic and not very helpful. This unit’s manual met that expectation. Parts and buttons are pictured and labeled, very basic “how to use” for blender, travel jar and chopper, tips for blender, travel jar and chopper, and cleaning instructions. NOTE: the base (obviously) and (less intuitively) the chopper adapter should not be immersed! There is a cleaning tip for the blender jar and travel jar to clean without disassembly I found interesting. I wish Hamilton Beach would invest in some better manuals. I think people would enjoy and appreciate the capabilities of their products a lot more with good documentation.
For me this blender/food chopper has be a true two for one proposition. It is clearly well made and so for works great in either of the 2 modes I use. That’s 5 stars for me.

We purchased this blender for our kitchen. Unfortunately, it came with a defective food chopper lid (please see photo) and the food chopper does not come apart as it is supposed to. Since the Hamilton Beach service calls line is.not functioning, we’ll probably ship it back to Amazon!
