STILL SPEECHLESS –
This HB food processor is POW-ER-FUL. It is QUICK! This is the second food processor I’ve ever owned. I purchased a Black & Decker about two years ago. It is clumpy, huge, and very hard to use–so–when I saw this one, I said to myself, “Self! This looks like the food processor you were trying to buy the first time.” I was thinking, ‘What am I going to do with TWO food processors?’ Well, here’s the answer: Use one and put the other one away. That’s what I did and THIS ONE is the one I use EVERYDAY–several times a day. The B&D was used about three times in two years! To add insult to injury, I placed the B&D in the box this one came in and put it away.
What makes this processor quick and slick is 1) Powerful speed! I shredded eight (8) large carrots in less than five minutes with very, very little effort. I also used the slicer side and sliced two red onions–in nothing flat. 2) When using the ‘pulse’ feature, two to three pulses to chop carrots, tomatoes, potatoes, mix cake dough, etc–is all it takes. I haven’t had to use the #2 setting yet because the ‘pulse’ and/or #1 setting performs the task so well.
Now, I’m not saying I’ll NEVER use the B&D processor again. It does have a dough blade for making bread so I will probably pull it out and live tortuously through the noise and clumsiness to get the job done; however, I plan to try with all my might to see if this one will do the job just as well. (I think it will). The reason I think that is because I made banana bread with it just today and everything mixed purr-fect-ly. The bread is moist and wonderful! I just creamed the butter and sugar first. After being careful to scrape everything down to make certain it is well mixed, I just dumped in the bananas, vanilla, and dry ingredients at once. I pulsed it a couple times, then mixed everything on the #1 setting for about six seconds and it was done. It is so delicious.
If you buy this food processor, you won’t be disappointed. It cleans easily too. Of course, the motor is not whisper quiet, but let me assure you that it is no louder than a $24 stand mixer (which I also own)…LOL. It’s light-weight and don’t let that fool you. I was a little hesitant when I took it out the box and realized how lightweight it is. Hamilton Beach did it again. I chopped some pork and made breakfast sausage the very first night. Worked perfectly. Just be sure the meat is cold.
One thing I do miss. The B&D has a little indicator light that stays on when the appliance is plugged in. I really miss having that on this HB processor. The trade-off is worth it though. The other trade-off is this one fits so perfectly underneath the kitchen cabinets on my countertop. Slick! I can hardly wait to make coleslaw with it. Haven’t tried to shred cheese with it and I probably won’t ever because I buy my cheese already shredded. I’m sure if I decide to, though, it will work well.
I received this processor three (3) days ago and have used it more in this short amount of time than my other processor, mixer and blender combined. Happy! Happy! Chop! Chop! Slice! Shred!

I wasn’t sure based on the price, but was more then happy with this purchase. I grind up veggies to make my dog food and it was so fast and easy to use. It may only hold seven cups but it does is so quickly and efficiently is so much better. The smaller cup means no scraping down the sides and redoing. Does it all perfectly with one go. I also got the warranty so even happier. Would highly recommend, oh yes and washes it up so quickly. NO gunk goes down the handle.

4.25 stars
I have owned a Cuisinart mini prep for almost 20 years now. It’s always been handy for things like finely chopping veggies and nuts, but it’s size makes it virtually useless for preparing things like dips (something I do fairly often) due to the small bowl size. I recently decided to look for a larger unit, but wasn’t necessarily looking for something that had all the ‘bells and whistles’. I wanted something mainly just to chop, grind and occasionally, purée. As part of the process of narrowing down my options, I decided to compare prices on Amazon, as well as (of course) read all the customer reviews. When it came to my wants/needs and budget, this one seemed to fit the bill, but it was the positive and informative customer reviews that ultimately decided things for me. For my intended usage I am completely satisfied with what this unit is capable of and how it performs, but there are a few things that would, IMHO, make it more deserving of a full five stars. First: this is extremely loud when in use. I knew that before I bought it and decided that (for the price) it was not a deal breaker, but it IS really annoying and I would definitely prefer something quieter. Second: trying to remove the chopping blade, especially when the bowl is full, can be difficult. The first things I prepared using this unit, was hummus and a spicy black bean dip. The weight of the dips (a full bowl of dip) created a suction that made removing the blade a real struggle. The centre part of the blade, which is made of a smooth, tapered plastic, became very slippery, making it almost impossible to get a good grip. I think some kind of a lip around the top of the cone would help make it easier to grasp. Also, like so many things theses days, this seems to be made almost entirely of plastic which, quite honestly, looks and feels really cheap. Whether or not it is durable, well, I guess only time will tell….I love that the lid can be turned upside down for storage, I find that very helpful and space saving. The suction cups on the bottom of this unit, which prevent it from moving around while in use, are helpful, however, they also make it a real pain to maneuver it in and out of my cupboard.
Bottom line? This is certainly not a ‘perfect’ unit, but whatever flaws it may have (I feel) are relatively minor when factoring in price. I am completely satisfied with my purchase.

Given the chance, there’s no doubt this machine could bore a hole through a brick wall. It’s loud, but with the twin jet engines propelling this beast, it’s going to make short work of anything you put in it. Pretty sure it could powder rocks.
Be grateful for the suction cups on the bottom as that’s what keeps this thing from leaping off the counter and chasing the dog.
The barrel hold a full half gallon.
HALF – GALLON!
That’s alotta freaking hummus and shredded zucchini.
I love this unholy monstrosity!
If you need to do big batches of anything fast, this is definitely worth the money!

My hundred year old processor finally gave out after many years, and actually just the switch gave out, I could still use it by plugging it in / unplugging it but that’s not ideal, so i went on the hunt for a new one in the $40 range. There are pros and cons to this machine. Let me start with the most obvious: IT’S LOUD. If you think you’ll do a little processing while the baby sleeps, think again. Holy cow it’s like a jet engine screaming at you. I think OSHA would mandate ear plugs for it.
But with that noise comes some remarkable power, and 8 cup capacity, double what my old one had in both respects. It’s taller, so it takes more space to store it, but it just made fast work of 10 lbs of potatoes shredded up for the dehydrator. Yesterday it reduced 3 quart jars of dried goldenrod flower (for tea) into one quart jar, a finer chopped up mix to brew and less jars & storage space needed now. I have no doubt it will be able to grind dried onions and potatoes (etc) into dusty powder if that’s your goal, or to puree your own home made baby food, which is always ideal. (you can freeze that in an ice cube tray, then transfer to a freezer bag and just pull out a cube or 2 or what your baby will eat when it’s meal time).
Also, it is dish washer safe here with my dishwasher, that was the first thing I checked straight out of the box so I could return the melted parts if necessary, but it’s also easy to just rinse out at the sink, always a plus.
So really the only con to it so far is the noise, otherwise, I am happy with it’s chopping power.

Great quality product. Just remember it is not an Aussie plug.

I have been using this processor for my food preparation for all these years. Today the plastic core where the attachment’s connects to, became brittle and broke into pieces. The motor still works!
I would highly recommend this product. I’m ordering a replacement today.
