I was told by the locals in Barbados to use this. I swim in the ocean where a lot of boats and jetskis are. I am visible and I have peace of mind swimming with my valuables.

If you plan on using the sturdy tube, in which the Swim Buoy arrives, to pack away the buoy when it is not in use, take note of how you unpack it. I didn’t really pay attention and I had to fiddle with it a bit to get it back into the tube.
I took the buoy out for a trial run; now I plan on using it the rest of the summer, and I fresh-water swim several times a week. The buoy is visible to approaching boats. I had people go out their way to approach me to chat during my two-hour swim, so it seems that it is a bit of a magnet, too.
Instructions are not included, so I found a video on how to put it together, using the key words, ‘Hiemal32 Setting up your Swim Buoy”. This is a must-see video because the buoy arrives packaged in such a way that the belt may be left tethered in the wrong place. As well, the video recommends placing your items in the bag before inflating it. Once the buoy is properly put together, in the correct order, it becomes a breeze to put it together again the next time and it is a cinch to dismantle. (To make the next time I set-up the buoy, quicker & easier, I leave one end of the belt tether attached to a ring, which will hopefully make sense once you watch the video.)
The Hiemal 32 Swim Buoy is not a life saving device, but it does have enough buoyancy (certainly without items—I have not tried filling the buoy with items yet) to hold your head up over water if, say, you have a cramp or accidentally swallowed water and need to cough. Unfortunately, it does feel as though the seams can open up if the buoy is squeezed too hard. However, it really does take up to about four out-breaths to inflate.
Swimming against the waves may take more energy, but the buoy stays behind and doesn’t get in the way. While swimming with the waves, the buoy did get caught in my arm when I changed swim styles. I suspect this is likely to be the same issue with all, or most buoys, of this style.
Overall, I am very pleased with the buoy, even though I recognize the care needed to ensure the seams are not pulled apart.

El material es muy bueno y resistente. Solo la correa es corta pero se puede acomodar para que quede lo suficientemente larga y no pegue en los pies. Por todo lo demás, es muy buen producto

La boya es bonita y el material se siente de buena calidad. Funciona bien para nadar y es bastante cómoda, pero no se le puede hacer uso a la bolsa para guardar cosas, ya que se le mete mucho el agua. Me confié de que se podían guardar cosas adentro porque en la descripción del artículo dice que se puede, pero se le filtra el agua. No funciona para guardar teléfono o llaves electrónicas.

This buoy is made so well! I’ve bought others that weee cheaper but plastic at the edges.they leak and need to be resealed. This one is sewn at edges and cannot leak! Worth the money!
