Do I notice any difference with it on or off? Not really. I haven’t tested in the sun for glare. The reason I use it is to protect the front element of my better lens. It rains a lot here, and I prefer to clean the filter more over time than the front element. I used Hoya before.

I have been using HOYA filters for decades. They perform exactly the way one would expect a high quality glass filter should. Unless a filter is of a special type that is SUPPOSED to alter an image, it must not impart any discernable image degradation. This is precisely how HOYA filters perform. Mechanically, the filter ring is rigid, well machined and fits perfectly into the front lens threads without binding of cross threading. If you have a high quality optic, then you want to put a high quality piece of glass in front of the first lens element. This means a HOYA filter.
