    Always protect your lens investment!
These offer great protection, their true value exceeds their cost. I recently had to replace one because my lens cap of all things scratched it. Thankfully it was the filter and not my lens!

I always put a filter on my lenses, and for good reason. Dropped my camera and the only casualty was the filter. Unfortunately, I’d just bought it, but better the cost of a filter than a lens. Just added another to cart!

Filters have features but I use them primarily to protect my lenses. This one has good quality which doesn’t negatively affect image quality

The filter is coated, always important to reduce reflections. Photos are clear and sharp, and the price is right. This is the brand I go to.

Do I notice any difference with it on or off? Not really. I haven’t tested in the sun for glare. The reason I use it is to protect the front element of my better lens. It rains a lot here, and I prefer to clean the filter more over time than the front element. I used Hoya before.

to protect my costly lens. uv lens are insurance against scratches, dings, etc. don’t really do anything else, pic quality still superb

I have been using HOYA filters for decades. They perform exactly the way one would expect a high quality glass filter should. Unless a filter is of a special type that is SUPPOSED to alter an image, it must not impart any discernable image degradation. This is precisely how HOYA filters perform.
Mechanically, the filter ring is rigid, well machined and fits perfectly into the front lens threads without binding of cross threading.
If you have a high quality optic, then you want to put a high quality piece of glass in front of the first lens element. This means a HOYA filter.
