HP 2024 Pavilion 15.6″ i7 Laptop

I’m a awriter and use my computer for work, many deadlines. I ordered the computer March 7, received it I March 30. Had an issue a week later, my computer was completely frozen on the opening page. I dealt with the service people ( I bought a 4 year warranty from Asurion) They sent me to HP. It took a pretty long time but finally a message popped up saying the CMOS was invalid or broken. I managed with their help to reset it.
The person who helped me asked if the computer was refurbished because this shouldn’t happen to a new computer. I told her I had ORDERED a new computer.
It happened again 10 days later. The screen froze, went black. I couldn’t start the computer or turn it off.
The blue rectangle with the comment about CMOS appeared again.
Was forced to send it to repair, they refused to replace it. When you write for a living it’s difficult being without a computer for three weeks!
Got it back a few days before I left for a month trip to see family in Sweden. Still have dealines, assumed the computer was fixed.
At the airport, the computer froze again. I had to try to fix it when I got to Sweden. Tried to start it. not only does the CMOS code come on but now it also says that it doesn’t have an HP battery?!
They didn’t fix it they made it WORSE. There is no one to talk to or chat to, everytime I try, the chatbot tells me that “Something unexpected happened.”
It’s impossible for me to work having this issue and I’m starting to doubt the computer is new. No customer service from HP or Amazon! If they had any decency, they’send me a new computer and take this piece of crap back. RUN AWAY from HP!

When I purchased this, I realized, not only was I purchasing the HP laptop (my last HP worked for many years so it was my choice of brand) but I was also paying for someone to upgrade it, which left room for errors. I was very pleased with the specifications offered as it was exactly what I wanted, but was a little nervous to order based on some of the comments in the review. The checklist that was included with the laptop from the tech who worked on it and the manager who approved the work, helped to calm my concerns about the quality of the work on the upgraded components I requested. The setup went smoothly, and the laptop is working perfectly. It has only been a few days, and so far so good! It is amazing how other reviews can make you hesitate to purchase something, and I am someone who reads all of the reviews before I purchase. I’m very happy with my laptop so far. Pretty close to perfect!

I really appreciate the illuminated keyboard & touch screen. Those are two great features.

I like the computer — a whole lot! It’s got double the storage and double the RAM compared with my 5-year-old one, and a nice fast processor. Because the drive is solid-state, it boots up in mere seconds. And it got here when they said it would, so no problem there, either. I haven’t tried the tech support, so I can’t comment on that.

But…I’m not completely onboard with Windows 11, though: there were things I could do on Windows 10 that are not possible on 11 (having each active task show up as a separate button on the taskbar, for instance). But I can’t blame that on HP, or on Computer Upgrade King. So, yeah, I give the computer 5 stars.

>>> And now, a little update (a couple of months later) about an update: Apparently I wasn’t the only one who wasn’t thrilled with how Windows 11 was displaying buttons on the taskbar. Windows did an update, and the update solved the problem. So now I like the computer (still a whole lot!) and I’m fine with Windows 11 too. Count me a happy camper!
