For the money the brightness, programmability, and color is a huge value.

First of all and most importantly the color of these is excellent, the CRI on these I would say is very good, I’m gauging this by eye I’ve seen enough to make a fairly good assessment. Colors look correct they aren’t dull nor do they unnaturally pop. If you cast it on a white wall the wall remains white (a good test for how white the light is).

The light have a factory and custom 24/7 mode or on and off programmable mode, which makes the light very customizable and the 24/7 is pretty smooth.

Pro: If you get multiple lights they all stay programmed together, making adjusting all your tanks easy.

Con: If you get multiple lights they stay programmed together making individual tank adjustments not possible if the lights are next to each other. You can do it if they’re let’s say 25feet or so away but each needs its own remote and you can’t bring one remote near the other light or it will switch to its programming.

To answer the question for the planted tank enthusiasts.

    Tank depth(front to back) 12”
Low to medium/high light- 1 light
High to ultra high light-2 lights

    Tank depth 18”
    Low-1 light
Medium to medium/high light- 2 lights
High to ultra high light-3 lights

If I had to put this light in a competition I would put it against higher end lights and upper mid range lights not lower end value lights even at its price point.

If you’re on the wall, get it. If you’re saying I want to save $30 and get a cheaper light, spend the $30 and you will be more than $30 happy for it. Remember the light is what shows you all the work you put into the tank and you’re going to look at it for years! Realistically the difference between your tank looking good and amazing may be $1 a month over 2 years, why would you do yourself such a disservice after putting in so much work into your tank? Your scenery will look better, your animals will look better, your plants will look better and be happier which in turn makes them healthier which makes them look even better!

    Get it!

Well built light with very convenient & useful features built in. It has a metal enclosure & feels very solid with a little weight to it. There’s plenty of light beads that produce more than enough light for my 20 gal tank. I meant to order 1 size down but made a mistake. It just fit luckily. The unit is also waterproof. If you’re setting your light just above the water resting on the tank this is a good feature to have. Water & condensation are sure to get into the light over time if it’s not completely sealed. The scheduling functions are really nice to have. It comes preprogrammed or there’s a DIY mode. The remote with scheduling is a little cumbersome, but easy enough with a little patience and 15 minutes of your time. The light emitted is perfect for planted tanks. My plants are pearling like crazy! I’m extremely satisfied with this light. If you’re considering a cheaper brand to save a few bucks, don’t waste your time. Been there, regretted & wish I’d gotten this one to start with.

This is the coolest LED aquarium light I ever used. It can produce full spectrum light just like sunlight which is great for my heavily planted tank. It’s short and stands off the top of the aquarium. It can get a little warm.

The coolest feature is you can control it from its very small remote control. The menus are easy to read and has a backlight if needed. You can control the hours of sunlight, % dimming, color spectrum, etc. It has preprogrammed cycles that you can use or that you can alter to your needs. It will gradually lighten the tank in the morning to full sunlight then, in the evening, it will move to a bluish moonlight mode, then gradually dim into darkness after you go to bed. Very cool!!

The 18 W light output is great for my 5.5 gallon tank, and a huge improvement over the floor lamp I was using before.

I appreciate that the remote stores the programming so it doesn’t get reset if the light is unplugged, especially since I have a custom “DIY mode” program set up. Doing that isn’t nearly as difficult as the reviews here would have you believe. It’s not the most user-friendly process (honestly, just nicer and more responsive buttons would help a lot) but it’s not too hard.

The biggest problem I’ve encountered with it has been the included power adapter. Setting the brightness under 10-15% (depending on the color, I imagine because different color LEDs use different amounts of current) causes the power supply to make an awful screeching noise that increases in pitch as the brightness increases until it’s too high for me to hear. I might try buying a nicer one (the included one is 20 V at 2 A, for anyone wondering) and see if it’s better.

Also, the remote has a “lightning storm mode” button. It does exactly what you’d expect: the light flashes on bright white for a fraction of a second every so often. Not sure why anyone would ever want this, and I regret pressing it out of curiosity.

I added this to my fluval flex 15g and it gave me the carpet of s.repens I wanted, really great for growing plants and showing the fish’s color. The remote makes it easy to control any algea breakouts and the daytime and nighttime cycles really useful and nice to look at.
