This device works as expected, so far. It plays DVDs, and my attached external hard drive reads as it should. Though not needed by me, the USB-C/A cable was included.
The only slight caveat? There is no DVD label on what is an unmarked front panel (As illustrated above!), despite one displaying on this item’s Amazon photos. Weird.
Update: The DVD burning function also works as expected. The only two speed options for burning DVD-R’s that I was given was 2x and 8x, with nothing in between. Perhaps, this could be a mileage may vary scenario, according to OS and/or the Disc Burning app (Mine was the built in Windows 10 burning tool) that’s used?

I had several hundred CDs that I wanted to upload, so I used this. It worked instantly as soon as I plugged it into my Mac. No need to download software. The connection cords are integrated, including a USB-C cord, which is handy. The device is very slim and lightweight. It did glitch a few times, which required unplugging and restarting the upload, but this was a very minor issue considering the price I paid and the number of CDs I uploaded. Upload speed was very fast. The device does feel fairly flimsy, but it survived this task, at least, which isn’t bad for the price.

The first time I used this disc player, it was great. However, after trying to use it for about 2 months now, it only works 1 out of 3 times. Granted, it does work. I have to push the open button then actually pull the tray out to get it to open, it makes a LOT of weird sounds, and doesn’t register when there’s a disc in it about half the time. Does it do it’s job? Eventually. Is it my top choice? Not at all. What makes it better, is I was given the chance to get a free $25 gift card if I give them a 5 star review.

Only read about half of my existing CD and DVD collection of photographs and video and most of the ones that it could read the mechanism was very noisy and stopped intermittently, like something was jammed inside.

I picked up a refurbished Lenovo M910 “Tiny” computer to use as a controller for a Laser Engraver I have but the “Tiny” doesn’t have any drives other than the internal SSD drive so installing programs from a CD-ROM or DVD would require an external drive. My main computer has it built in, but that doesn’t work for the “Tiny” so I checked for reasonably priced external drives here on Amazon. I found this one for a VERY decent price and was very pleasantly surprised when it performed extremely well, with great speed and didn’t miss a beat when used to install the software. I also installed a program to play background audio and to view movies from DVD’s as well and they worked perfectly with no glitches when I used them.
This is one of the best low price External DVD drives I’ve had over the years and it’s compact enough I can set it on top of the M910 “Tiny”, connect the built in USB cable (a longer external cable is also provided) and the drive is powered from a USB 3.0 port on the computer. It don’t get much better than that for less that $30 US.
