I bought the Ibanez QX527PB “brand new” as the price reflected and received a heavily used/floor model of the guitar. When I ordered, there were 2 left in stock and there was no indication in the order of it being either used or on display.

When I opened the shipping box, I immediately noticed that the official ibanez manufacturing tape had been cut. Maybe it was cut for inspection purposes, I thought. Then I took the guitar out of the gig bag and noticed that the jescar evo gold frets, which are supposed to be gold, were discolored in multiple places throughout the fretboard where a player would typically “bend” their notes. Based off that, anyone could reach the conclusion that this was a heavily used guitar.

If that wasn’t enough evidence, I plugged the guitar to at least tune the strings. As it turns out, the strings were tuned to a whole tone down on every string AND the high E string could not go beyond D#, which means that this guitar had been set up to accommodate a down tuning playing style.

In conclusion, I was charge for a brand new guitar and I received a used and battered guitar instead which cannot achieve its factory setting tuning.

I am appalled by this store trying to sell off their used equipment as “new” and you bet I’m going to do everything in my power to fix this.

I hope this was a mistake, but the fact that this was packaged as a new item (I’ve ordered another Q series from Ibanez before) and I know what a brand new ibanez looks like, so this leads me to believe that this store knew EXACTLY what they were doing.
