When I first got my hands on the 20L Waterproof Dry Bag Backpack, the durable 500D PVC material immediately stood out. This is a roll top dry bag with an exterior small pocket and a sleeve pocket inside in the back wall.
The material for the main bag is a fairly heavy rubberized material to which straps and attachments have been connected by use of additional rubber patches, which keeps any stitching from breaking the surface of the material. The shoulder straps are attached using carabiners, and are fairly basic. So you won’t be using this for any long distance hiking, but suits just fine for transporting the bag to and from your mode of transport or maybe a day hike where you intend to get wet.
20 liters is plenty for a couple changes of clothes and some other essentials. It is essentially just one large pouch, so pack carefully or be forced to unpack to get at something g you put in first.
The closure is two semi-rigid bars at the top of the pouch that you roll over a few times and secure both with side straps and a strap that goes over the top from front to back. There is also a thin, clear hoop of plastic inside the mouth that I suppose is to be folded over on itself before folding the main closure. It’s not mentioned in any of the information, so I’m not sure.
I got this because I prefer to be on two wheels and sometimes that means you get wet. This will get my stuff and some dry clothes to my destination safely.

This is a decent drybag for the price. There are better drybags available but they come with a higher price tag. The bag says “Waterproof” but in my experience, there is no such thing as a completely waterproof drybag. “Water resistant” would be more accurate. That said though, in its brand new state, it does keep water out and I feel confident that my gear will stay dry. The bag has a big main pocket that is sealed in typical drybag style by rolling the top of the bag down and then clipping the rolled part in place. The bag has one very large pocket for your main gear and a small pocket for small stuff that you don’t want to lose down in the bottom of the big pocket. The small pocket uses a zipper closure that will be less water resistant than the main bag (even less so if the zipper gets sand in it or you aren’t diligent in closing the zipper ALL THE WAY!) It’s not a place that I would store a phone or an electronic car key but should be OK for other small things.
The material used is lighter weight than other drybags that I have of this size. Depending on how rough and tumble your world is, this may be a problem as the bag wears. The seam at the bottom of the bag is protected by a narrow seam protector. It’s kind of crudely installed (see photo) and it is one area of concern I have for the longevity of the bag. These bottom seams are one place that tends to get a lot of wear as one sets the bag down and shifts it around as one would do in normal usage. Other bags that I own have a sacrificial “bucket” layer at the bottom of the bag to protect the integrity of the water-tight seams. So I worry that, over time, the integrity of the bottom seam might be compromised.
Another area of concern is the plastic that seals the “lips” of the bag. In this bag, this plastic is attached at the top (at the lip) of the bag (see photo). Other bags that I own have the plastic bonded to the bag so that it will stay in place. This plastic does seem work very to seal the bag, but I worry that the plastic could get scrunched in a way that the seal is impaired. (Mind you, I haven’t actually seen this happen and I think that if one is careful when sealing the bag, this concern can be mitigated.)
The backpack straps of this bag are a nice feature. They aren’t something that you going to want to use on a long hike (and I wouldn’t use them to wear the bag while canoeing as shown on the Amazon page for this bag) but they do serve very well for getting your getting your gear from the car to the boat ramp, for example.
To sum up, brand new, this bag is a good drybag at a good price. Brand new, I have no hesitation in using it. My concerns are for the longevity of the drybag function (a concern that is, at this point, only potential and may or may not actually become reality). I will try to update this review as time passes and I have more information on how the bag performs as it is used (and abused).
