With 300 watts per channel this sound bar has great sound for the area it’s in. It was delivered earlier than expected.

I’m using this for a TCL Roku TV. The TV is not particular expensive and has truly horrible speakers. But, it has a very nice screen.
I tried two different optical cables (different brands) — and neither would seat properly in the optical port on this soundbar; I could not use them. When the first would not fit, I assumed it was the cable — but I now blame the soundbar (and accordingly removed one star in the review). (Both cables seat just fine in the TV’s optical port.) That being said, the included HDMI cable worked fantastically, once I figured out which port to use on the soundbar. (The included manual is largely useless.)
The wireless subwoofer paired with the soundbar so effortlessly that I did essentially nothing — and it works great. (I may have pushed the pairing button once.) The included remote cycles among roughly 4-5 sound levels on the subwoofer; for me, the middle level worked the best.
fwiw, I have to use the soundbar on the floor; the TV is in an armoire that is simply not wide enough to insert the soundbar. But it sounds excellent on the floor, so my main concern will be to keep it clean. I am ordering a longer HDMI cable to route out the back and around the side of the armoire; otherwise, I cannot shut the front doors without unplugging the cable.
Bottom line — this soundbar (with its subwoofer) transforms a mediocre-sounding TV into a near-high-end sound and movie system. Highly recommended.
Note — I just got this, so I cannot say anything useful yet about the product’s longevity.

Remote is decent size and not one of those credit card remotes. The sub woofer although lacking enough base at lower volume does improve with increased volume. The remote has 3 selectable levels for bass not an adjustable range but I found the low, medium, and high to be acceptable. Overall it’s all working good and a big improvement over the TV speakers. I would buy it again.

Great compact home speaker for movie lovers, for music it was not great just ok. I guess only one way greatness and I wanted just for TV, so that is consider great. Easy straight forward setup. That very good, compare with my Yamaha. A lot easy.
One month and one week, my home speaker doesn’t work ๐ก๐ก So I bought a Optical cable to replace theHDMI, well it finally work again but with it own remote. Please improve your cable because the set of speakers were not cheap. From 4โญ to 2โญ. Also buyer has to consider if the system wasn’t working after a month, it was a little hassle to contact and replacements that is my point of view after contacting the dealer without responding. Thanks to the review mentioned the cable problems. I have it sorted ๐คฏ.

In August 2020, I bought the first version of this soundbar named “JBL Bar 2.1”. That was during the COVID lockdown as I was working from home _which is a rented house. Fast forward 2022, I was able to save enough money to buy a house located two hours away from my workplace _as my weekend getaway. I still kept the rental house though, because it was only 3 miles from my workplace.
For my new house, I bought a brand new 55″ TV. Having been spoiled at the sound I was getting from the previous JBL 2.1 soundbar, I decided to buy another one for this new TV. Surprisingly, there is a new version! There was nothing wrong with the first model so I was wondering why JBL came up with this new model. There were hardly any information on the internet about it as Amazon was just releasing it on February 22, 2023. So I took a chance and bought one!
It’s been just over an hour after I unboxed and tested this new model. This time, it’s named “JBL Bar 2.1 Deep Bass (MK2)”. In appearance, it looks almost the same as the first version. However, the MK2’s soundbar has a slight extrusion on top. The bar logo and controls are raised and the subwoofer is taller. After plugging the HDMI cable and power cords, the subwoofer automatically paired with the soundbar. The remote control looks different too. It’s simplified and very intuitive. This time, when you press the Bass button, there are only 3 settings: Low, Mid, & High _as opposed to the 1 to 20 bass levels of the previous model.
Testing the unit:
Sound perception is very subjective, depending on one’s background and taste in music. So my comments on this section is my own, having been a musician in my younger years (playing guitar, bass, and keyboards) and currently being a hobbyist as a saxophone player. So I turned to my proven bass tester song which is “Mystery” by Anita Baker. This song has a sliding bass note after the 8-bar intro. The bass notes are very clear coming from what I assume a 5-string (at least) bass guitar. I was blown away by the sound! The soundbar was tuned so that the mids and highs are very clear and not drowned from the bass sound. I tried other songs from Steely Dan, David Bowie, and other YouTube Bass Testers and they all come alive. The lows are very solid. The 3 bass level settings are very practical. At low volume, I could still hear the bass!
I could go on but I’ll leave it up to you guys to decide yourself if this is a good upgrade (if you currently have the previous model) or a good new soundbar for your TV. Within a day, you should be able to make a decision, as Amazon has liberal RETURN POLICY, in case you’re not satisfied.
In transparency:
This is the second unit I got from Amazon. I received the first unit when it first came out on Feb. 22, 2022. The soundbar wouldn’t turn on! I tried all the suggested troubleshooting guides from JBL. Still no power! Looking back, I noticed it was delivered without being enclosed in a protected box. So the photos of what’s inside the box were visible. Inside the box, the soundbar and the subwoofer were only being protected by the hard Styrofoam they were enclosed in. Immediately, I returned the unit to Amazon and asked for a replacement.
Three days later (today Feb. 25, 2023) I got the replacement! This time, the original JBL box was enclosed inside a bigger box, surrounded by bubble wraps. Within 5 minutes after unboxing, I was enjoying the much improved version of this JBL soundbar!
Conclusion:
I highly recommend this unit, especially for musicians or those who are totally into music. Of course it sounds great watching movies, YouTube, etc.! I’m not a gamer so I would think this would be great for that purpose too! For now, everything is great! I’ll write a follow-up review in a few months.

Just wow ! Impeccable sound and quality perfect packaging and fast shipping.
This sound bar paired with 6.5 subwoofer is truly a pleasure and a whole new cinema experience to watch movies on.
The sound quality out of this sound bar is second to none compared to the competition at this price point
The remote is simplified easy to use doesn’t have many options like no EQ but it’s like the sound bar is programed from the factory for immersive sound experience.
I really can’t explain it here. It just works with no complaints.
Consider it like a smart already out of the box tuned system so say…
The remote is able to adjust 3 different BASS levels from LOW/MID/HIGH with zero distortion even at its highest level.
No echo ! Like other brands. I paired it with Special Vaydeer Speaker stands at an elevated position and trust me does not need to be wall mounted. When all mounted it will vibrate the walls and you will hear it. Make sure whatever solution you choose (similar to my set up) that sound deadening is involved.
So listening to music via Bluetooth on this thing is again outstanding I’m astonished by the sound this bar set up is able to produce. $300 is a steal I highly recommend this sound bar sub combo from JBL.
Every JBL product I have is always very good quality this one comes at no exception. IMO JBL is the leader in sound I would say them or Denon but yea those are my TOP 2 when it comes to cinema experience and full immersion around you.
BTW right out of the box first time turning on SUB connected in matter of seconds to the sound bar and gives a chime to let you know it’s connected.
The only drawback I could think of it doesn’t have Dolby Atmos but honestly it’s not needed.
If you can tell from my pic it shows set up in my master bedroom.
Unbelievable will definitely be buying more JBL products in the near future.
I highly recommend this sound bar
Hope this review has helped you in making your purchase decision ๐ซก
