JBL Bar 300: 5.0-Channel Compact Soundbar

This obnoxious message will flash at you every single time you turn on the soundbar. This sort of behavior needs to stop. Life is full of too many notifications, popups, and disruptions we don’t need. Whoever at JBL thought this was a good idea should be fired. I PAID for this product, please don’t harass me with messages like this you can’t remove. I, like most people, have no desire to connect an appliance like this needlessly to wifi. And I don’t need devices saying “hello” to me just because they have a display, and can.

Other issues:
1. midrange is severely lacking, voices are not clear. My 10 year old cheap soundbar did better.
2. One of the screws broke in half, shockingly cheap metal.
3. Clearance between cables and wall mount is poor, there is stress on my HDMI cable because of this. Plugs should be more recessed or at an angle like other soundbars do.

I hate to have to leave a bad review like this but expected better from JBL.

Don’t like the remote- instructions for use not that clear and seems like I have to double click the remote for every function. Also not happy that the system sync’ed with a separate TV remote that I did not want the system to sync with.

The Purevoice technology does not appear to work with television programs. I get no response when selecting or trying to select Purevoice using the remote control. The speaker is nicely, compact, and I like the way it works with my Verizon FiOS remote in terms of adjusting volume. However, I purchased this sound bar to hear the dialogue more clearly, however, in this regard it is disappointing.

This unit surprised me with its clear, rich sound. Easy setup and nice app too. No..the bass will not blow your socks off like an amp powered sub. But it’s more than enough for daily use. Speech is crisp and the sound modulation feature smooths out every moment of action. All this + Atmos makes it a well worthwhile purchase. But I recommend getting it on sale as the original ticket price of 600 is too steep for what you get.

Terrific sound out of this soundbar, especially dialogue from TV shows and movies. I haven’t heard dialogue this good for many years, ever since they dropped CRT TV’s and their forward-firing speakers. Really, it’s very good for watching TV and I’ve had high-end TV’s and sound systems for years. People who complain about the lack of a subwoofer output or inadequate bass must like incredibly loud, booming bass cause I’ve got the bass turned down to 1, the lowest setting, and it’s just right for a natural sound. Turn it up to 5 and it’ll rattle the windows. Hooked it up with the optical cable and it’s the best soundbar I’ve had.
