Pros: Very easy to set up. Bass is just what you would except from JBL, smooth loud and powerful but not over the top. The true wireless speaker sound good, however I leave mine plugged unless I want to really get that surround effect… The highs and mids sound great as well. Voice is clear. Volume goes up to 30 I believe. For normal watching I’m content at about the 14-18 level, for movie watching day with the fam we crank to about 21-22 with more to spare. The app is easy to navigate Got mine for $699. Which makes a steal of a deal.
Compare: I don’t know if it’s worth 899$ however I did try the Vizio elevate 2020 model and returned it, app was not reliable and there are plenty of features and customizations, I found myself messing with the features to much… the bass was over the top, to much… the highs did sound slightly better than the JBL, but not by a lot…it is currently on sale tho.. for $699. I think I’d still choose the JBL 700, just because its sounds great, bass is amazing and the wireless speakers are truly wireless and recharge when hooked back up to the main bar!!
Cons: I do wish it had a tad more customization options, all you can do is tweak the high mid and bass levels that’s it. But that’s it. Hope this helps.

I purchased this unit after reading a review of the JBL 900. I figured this one was more suited to the size of the room I planned to use it in. First off, the surround speakers have to charged by attaching them to the ends of the soundbar. They do not operate for very long and have to be charged often. Next I was unable to get adequate sound from the surrounds. I spoke to JBL’s tech support and they could not resolve the issue. I returned this model and purchased a Vizio 5.1.2 Elevate for close to $200 cheaper. The sound of the Vizio was equal to if not better than this model and the surrounds operated perfectly.

I really like the sound, very adjustable and the detachable speakers work really well. I have a MUCH more expensive sound system from 15 years ago that is not as good as this sound bar.
It was pretty easy to set up. The app could be better, I missed a step in connecting to wifi (hit enter before I had the password entered) and it brought the process to its knees. Had to delete the app and restart after a bunch of spinning circles.

I give 3 starts because is not so accurate, ones in a wile when we put tv on doesn’t work at all, we have to unplugged from electricity and put back on,,, happens frequently,,, so 3 starts Sound is very good, the room that we have it is not that big

Bought this to upgrade my old LG soundbar, whose subwoofer kept cutting out. This is amazing. Never have any issues with the sub or surrounds cutting out. The bass is CRAZY, shakes the furniture and lamps. Can’t seem to get the ATMOS to work because my TV only outputs ARC not E-ARC, but not a problem, still sounds great. Rear speakers last about 12 hours and recharge in ~3hrs. Would buy again and recommend to everyone. Wish I had the budget for the Bar 1000, but this is still amazing.

My husband and I originally owned a Samsung sound bar and it was good, but it was starting to go out and we wanted something with a bit more power. We went into our local Best Buy to try out some soundbars and they had two different JBL’s. They had a 5.1 (just the bar) and a 7.1 that had the detachable speakers. We decided that the 5.1 was the way to go, but wanted to do some more research before we bought the one at Best Buy. That is when we found this one! It was the same price as the one at Best Buy, but it had the detachable speakers! It was a no brainer! It arrived in 2 days and was packaged nicely! It was easy to install and connect to our Sony TV. We are definitely happy with our purchase and will continue to buy JBL!

This soundbar looks fantastic, sounds amazing, great bass, great clarity with movie dialogue. The detachable satellite surround speakers are battery powered, so totally wireless and can go anywhere, and charge from the main bar and last a number of days before needing a recharge. But plus them into the main bar at night and they’re ready to go again in the morning. Highly recommend.

1st I’ve been a JBL guy for a long time. I expected the quality of sound this system would provide to be amazing. Truthfully, this system is exceeding my expectations.
The sound definition, quality of the Bass, Mids, and Highs are so perfectly balanced in my space.
I am running 100″ UST lazer projector in a 14 by 14 entertainment room. In this space I don’t have to raise the volume above 15 to get the earth shattering bass, and super immersive surround this system provides.
JBL got this one right. I also like the idea of the rechargeable rear speakers on the main bar or by USB C.
Easy to setup and high quality sound. Everything I expect out of JBL.
