These shoes do not have a wide toe box! My big toe was rubbing on the side of the boot with thin socks (I don’t want ingrown nails).

Ended up going a half size smaller than the Amazon suggested size and that ended up being perfect. These boots are pretty darn comfortable right out of the box and the outsole does provide some cushion. Super thick but maleable leather, the gusseted tongue is very well done and doesn’t poke into your foot. Compared to my Redwing Iron Rangers, I’d choose these Jim Greens everyday of the week, such a better experience.

My original purchase was US size 10.5 in natural. I did my best with the sizing guidelines based upon my bannock size and how my other shoes and boots fit. My foot was swimming in the 10.5 and the color was not what I was expecting. I also tried a Superfeet foot bed to take up some of the extra room… I decided to return the 10.5 and order US size 10.0 in walnut. I tried to contact Jim Green before and after the original purchase for advisement, no response yet.

Not the fault of Jim Green, but there was an issue with the original delivery. One day it showed in transit, then damaged and on route back to the vendor. Again, not the fault of Jim Green, but Amazon mixed up the drop off of the walnut pair with a package being delivered to one of my neighbors.

I am much happier about the fit and color of the US size 10 in walnut. Currently I am in the process of breaking them in. Not gonna lie, they are stiff. Each day is getting better and better. I will post an update in a few weeks.

I have a pair of african rangers, and these are much much more narrow. Overall, about 1/2″ narrower, and the tapered toebox is pretty narrow and restrictive as well.

They are extremely well built, and very nice looking, but the narrowness just kills them if you have anything but a narrow foot. I’d advise at least ordering a 1/2 size up.

So I’m already biased in favor of Jim Green boots. I have two pairs of rangers I wear for work and I love them. Bought these Numzaan size 10 on Amazons size recommendation. I’ve never worn a β€œheritage” boot. First impressions when I put them on was Lord what have I gotten into. Stiff. Tight across the bridge and toes. More narrow toe box than the rangers. Good fit in the heel. But the leather footbed reminded me of the Navy steel toe chukka boots I was issued in boot camp. Unforgiving beast of a boot. I ordered a pair in walnut 10.5 for comparison. Better fit across the bridge and toe but a little loose in the heel. And no room for an insert. Back and forth between trying on the two I noticed the 10s were already becoming more comfortable. Decided I’d go with those and wore them for the day and realized that leather footbed was not really uncomfortable even though it’ll take some getting used to. The frog sole is grippy. Provides a slightly spongey step akin to a christy sole. And the few times I’ve worn them I’ve noticed each time they are more comfortable and the footbed’s already taking the imprint of my foot. I was hesitant about the cost but the quality is unquestionable. Honestly they are an excellent example of true craftsmanship. As for the other pair I’m trying to talk myself out of keeping them. I mean they have room for a pair of winter socks for cooler weather.

Simply cannot be compared with anything else sub $600. The best comparison would be Red Wing Iron ranger or blacksmith and these are heads and tails better built. Beefy leather mid sole, leather insole and fully leather lined along with full toe cap. Just amazing. The outsole is as interesting combination fo firm and soft, but more soft. Doesn’t feel squishy under foot but definitely WAY more forgiving than my iron rangers. I’m sure it wears fairly quick but time will tell and resoles should be dead simple.

As for fit all I can tell you is I bought the same size as my barefoot African Ranger and the fit is EXCELLENT. Slightly longer and a bit more snug.

JG hits one out of the park on this boot.

So I have worn many many boots and shoes I have wide feet most of the time my brannock size is nowhere near the size that fits I end up going a half size or more up these are 100% true to brannock snug firm handshake everywhere but plenty of toe space. These boots are perfect need to be broken in but on first wear comfortble for me I wore them for 10 hrs at My factory job right out of box no issues they are already molding to my feet these are better than the other boot I was looking at and over 100$ cheaper sole is soft grippy and durable leather is very good fit is perfect for me

I was searching for a boot that could do it all. Kick zombie ass, hike werewolf castles, and look handsome enough for dinner with the vampire overlords. This boot does it all. Break in has been pretty easy. Fairly stiff boot. Leather is beautiful in walnut. Fit and finish is impeccable. Construction is sturdy yet refined. The new frog grip sole is perfect in this material. Didn’t like the JG green lug sole. Absolutely love this boot. I wear an 11 in Bare foot African rangers and ordered 11 in numzaans. JG killed it with this one!
