As a content creator this was a very good buy. Affordable and durable. Get two if you need oneโ

Firstly, the included ball head is wholly inadequate. Itโs made up of 2 parts that loosens the whole assembly when you undo the screw. It rotates even if you tighten it to the 1/4 screw of the tripod. Replace this immediately. I got this because I missed out on the โTripplerโ tripod and this seems to be of similar type. The materials used seem to be of quality. The grip on the legs are, well, grippy. The nature of itโs design seems to be itโs strenght and weakness at the same time. You loosen it to extend it like a selfie stick or shorten to be a vlogger grip. The mechanics of this is where itโs kind of weak. You really have to tighten it down when you are at your desired length or otherwise it will wobble easily. When tighten I mean tighten. But due to this, youโll have to work just as hard to untighten it when you want to change the length again. Basically I wish the lock/unlock mechanism was a bit better.
Due to the lack of options that are similar to this Iโll have to make it work. On the positive side, itโs great as a vlogging grip, the size is packable, and itโs lightweight for what it can do.

I ordered this as lighter alternative to Velbon Sherpa tripod. Since I do not use DSLR much and use Lumix Point and shoot camera most of the time, I do not need Heavy Duty tripod. Instead I had lighter ones including couple different size of Joby Gorillas but I wanted little higher. I bought few lighter alternative tripod but was not satisfied bulky and not light enough. This seems works as pocket tripod with little elevated use. I saw similar but I know Joby quality and their engineering, and I was right. Quality is great. Only hoped it included quick release like Gorilla pod. And make spare camera attachment available for multi cameras.

Locking mechanism is twist so simple side to side movements unlock the mount.
Joby normally backs up their high price with great design, not this time.

Fidgety is the best way to describe this thing. It’s actually worse than the Gorillapod when it comes to fidgetyness. Joby has obviously gone after the vlogging/content creation market for awhile now but one thing they continue to miss the mark on is we want to get the shot, not mess with our equipment constantly. The ball head is garbage and the camera has a tendency to spin on it unless you loosen the knob and retighten it. The extensions are never secure so it will flop from side to side, you have to extend the bottom extension just to use it as a tripod, when it is being used as a tripod it only works with the legs fully extended because they flex too much in the middle position with nothing more than a Sony ZV-1 on it. I don’t know why “thickness” is a rating on here. Thickness isn’t a good thing. If anything it’s way too bulky and long. I would NEVER put a mirrorless camera on it doesn’t need this much girth for a point and shoot…or maybe it would be even worse if it were thinner. Major miss on this one Joby.

Nice looking product that could benefit from a bit more heft. It does the job, but max height when something is attached is probably unsafe. The legs need to be fully splayed out to avoid tipping. Locking by turning the rods can also be activated accidentally when grabbing. So overall, it’s still a good looking and worthwhile product, but wish for some things to be a bit sturdier and reassuring.
