For mainly emergency reasons, I purchased this to hand-feed a pair of baby lovebirds and a trio of baby budgies from three weeks to weaning. In the past, I’ve bought large 20-pound bags of formula and ended up putting most of it in the freezer or throwing it away. This bag is a good size and reasonably priced for taking one group of birds from two or three weeks until weaning. All of the birds liked it, ate well and grew to full size on this as their exclusive diet. And I didn’t have a huge amount at the end to have to dispose of.

This really helped keep our 1 year old Crimson Bellied Conure healthy after having his beak trimmed at the vet. His beak was so sore that he couldn’t eat his mash, pellets, millet, and seed. Started him on this with this and a little no sugar added applesauce for the first 2 days, then this alone for about 4 days, and then he was eating this and his mash for 3 days while introducing pellets. Now back to his regular eating. We just wish we didn’t have to buy a big bag of it as it expires in Nov. 2022 and we got it on 1 day prime. We will try freezing it, but we don’t know if we will need it again.

Exact hand feeding formula has always been a favourite of mine, easy to mix with no lumps. This is the second bag of the High Fat and I personally prefer it, as my birds are keeping better weight with it.

Good formula for helping with medication. However I would rather have the lower fat blend as it works better for mixing up a smoother texture. But if you need this for handfeeding baby birds in a high fat diet I would highly recommend this blend.

Mindy found the baby bird. Freshley fallen from a nest. Almost stepped on her as she lay in the leaves. I came to her and she put the baby in my hand. And it begins.
At home I had the Kaytee Exact powder formula. So I left work and took her home. I added just enough warm water to make a milkshake like thick mixture and with an eye dropper feed the open, vocal and demanding voice with the food of life.
A nest made of a soft cloth in a nest size box that shipped a watch from Amazon and the evening comes. Feeding is 3 half droppers every hour and increases as she grows.
And she grows. God sends his babies to us and expects that we will do as nature’s nurse should.

My birds love this formula! I hand fed my cockatiels 5 years ago and to this day they still like to eat it several times a week and it keeps them healthy. This formula really made all of my birds very healthy when they were little chicks and they loved it. I have never had any problems with them not liking it, if anything they were always very excited during feeding time. Almost 7 years later I continue to feed them this formula and they go nuts when they hear me in the kitchen mixing it up for them. I put in on a dish and they eat it right up like a treat. They also like it when I put it on a spoon for them so they can get on my shoulder and enjoy their treat.
Very recently we had more cockatiel babies hatch and we hand fed them using this same brand and they also loved eating the formula. We purchased the 1ml syringes from Amazon that are wonderful to use and purchased this large bag as well. We have the Kaytee container and just scooped out the formula from the large bag and placed it in the container to keep everything fresh and manageable during feedings. Purchasing the large bags are more cost effecive and the price is fantastic! If we purchased this large formula bag at our local pet store the price would be double.
Making the formula is so easy, just use a scooper or a tablespoon, place it in a glass cup, add hot/warm water and stir it to together. I also like that I can adjust the consistency of the formula by adding either more hot water or more formula. For feeding the chicks I use a disposable syringe, then fill it up with the formula and hand feed them. Afterwards, I discard any leftover formula in the garbage disposal and then make another batch for the next feeding. I use the same procedure when making formula for my adult Cockatiels and Conures. Some like to eat it off of a plate, some like a spoon and some still like to eat from the syringe. For my adults I like to feed them several times a week.
This formula really helped keep my birds healthy as babies and continues to keep them healthy as adults. Would recommend this formula to anyone that is going to hand feed their birds and also to maintain their health throughout the years.
