I find this works great for rat litter, they seem to like to use it. It doesnt have any dust, which is great.

I wouldnt say its absorbent, but its easy to clean up, and seems to work quite well for rat litter. It doesnt mask smells. So I might try something else in future, but im still learning what works for the little girls.

Well, Iโ€™d give it 5 stars for bird owners! Absorbency and scent arenโ€™t really issues. The litter itself has no odor so thatโ€™s a real plus, because birds are sensitive. This is a safe thing to use on the bottom of my parrots cage, under the grating. It catches his wastes and clumps it and catches good that drops, preventing it from rotting. If his play stand was designed differently, scooping it out would be easy. As it is, I just dump it and scrub it. Itโ€™s great to have something natural and safe to use that doesnโ€™t have dust or irritating scent. Great products for birds. Iโ€™ve used it for finches, canaries, and parakeets as well.

I really like this to use as bedding for my pet mouse. I usually put a thick layer of this, and then a lot of timothy hay on top for my mouse to nest with. I have to say, after trying different beddings over the years for mice ( like shredded newspaper, paper bedding, wood shavings) this definitely is the best thing for odors ive tried. As long as I wash the wheel , the cage wont stink for over a week. Would definitely recommend for other small pets.

My only downside is that i have to get a new bag every 3 weeks or so, so the price bargain is not the greatest. But maybe subscribing will bring the cost down to a better price for me.

I like that Kaytee Kay-KOB Bedding is lightweight and very absorbent. I used to use paper towels in my extra-large birdcage and minutes after I cleaned the cage and put down new paper my keet or tiel would have a poo and here we go again. I love animals, but I don’t like my house to look or smell nasty. Now I just use a litter scoop to clean up the mess and top the area off with clean cob bedding! No need to be embarrassed when someone admires my birds!

I’ve had birds for years and have used many different bedding. I don’t use the metal grates on the bottom of the cages because I like the birds to sometimes be able to walk around on the flat–it’s better for their feet. I need a litter that will keep the cage dry and is easy to clean. I also want a litter that the birds don’t want to pick up and throw around and it needs to keep things odor free. The Kay-Kob fills the bill, in addition it doesn’t add a lot of weight to the cages if they are on hangers. Cleaning is as easy as scooping kitty litter, there is no mess and it’s a nice, safe natural product.

My pet fancy rat, Sir Hermey, started sneezing shortly after I got him. I had him separated immediately from other rats and on antibiotics, but after several weeks of no improvement we started to worry he was going to just die on us during the night. He started getting lethargic, cranky, pushing his bedding and food out of the cage, hiding in the corners and running when you tried to pick him up…it was frightening because I’ve never had a rat act like this before!

A friend of mine had some of this kob bedding for her birds and she pointed out that Hermey seemed to be having trouble breathing whenever he was in the cage – but that his sneezing would virtually stop when he was outside. On a whim we completely emptied his cage and put a few handfuls of kob bedding in…his sneezing stopped almost immediately. Now he’s got a few snuffles here and there, but he hasn’t had any sneezing fits like before!

Rat allergies DO happen, and if unchecked can kill your little buddies! ๐Ÿ™ I only use a small amount for litter in his ‘potty spots’ but he loves this stuff. I’ve noticed a decrease in his cage smells, and it doesn’t stick if it gets wet like paper bedding. It also cleans up really easily, and he likes playing in it. Haven’t had any trouble with him eating it and getting plugged up, and several sites recommend kob bedding (this particular brand) for all types of small animals (except reptiles).

The only ‘con’ I have is that it’s not very warm. I noticed the paper bedding in the other cages produce warmth when they’re snuggling into it, and it’s easier for them to drag paper bedding into their nests. The kob bedding doesn’t really allow for my rats to use their imagination. I’d recommend using this as a litter and to absorb smells in the cage, but get them a pre-made nest with lots of things to gather. I can’t use anything with paper in it because he sneezes too much, but he loves his little fuzzy hammock. I even gave him an old ankle-sock that he made into a sleeping bag. The kob bedding doesn’t seem to cause him any trouble as far as sleeping comfortably, in fact he likes to drag his ‘sleeping bag’ into it and lay on top of it while he plays.

Definitely recommend. Smells nice, easy clean up, absorbs urine odors, great for pets with allergies to paper or hypersensitive to dust, doesn’t get sticky when wet, and very colorful! Thanks for such a great, quality, product at an affordable price!!!

I have been using the crumbled paper litter for my finches cage and have not been satisfied with it at all as it didn’t absorb odor well and I was cleaning their cage way too often, but it was recommended to me by a well known Pet Store. While looking on Amazon to see what they offered and to order my regular supplies for my babies, I came across this Kay Kob Bedding and all the wonderful reviews and statements that had been made by customers who were using it so I decided to start with the 8lb bag and give it a try. This bedding is AWESOME. I will never use anything else for my finches cage again. I’m fixing to order a larger bag. No odor. I’m not cleaning their cage all the time….my babies love it. I would highly recommend this bedding to anyone with birds. IT’S WONDERFUL!

We have a small antique bird cage. Have been using the crumbled pine litter for years but recently its much harder to find so gave this a try. It’s fantastic, works just as well & maybe even better as there is no dust in this cob litter like we had in the pine. We’re switching to this stuff!
