KingCamp Bamboo Folding Portable Picnic Camping Table

This brilliant little well made folding table is just the right size for our travels. It stores neatly in a small space in our 1997 RV camper-van. It is lightweight and easy to carry. The design makes it easy to unfold for setting up and putting it back into its well made carrying case. The ability to adjust the leg height is an added bonus. I’ve used it outdoors several times on a recent camping trip, very happy with it.

The box says Made in China which I expected but didn’t see in any of the ad. I deducted one star for a ridiculous implication that it’s suitable to hold 176 pounds. I can see if weighted evenly across the entire surface with no sideways pressure maybe this is possible at the lower height but the heading makes it sound like a person could stand on it and what a disaster that could lead to. The corner angled brackets are thin and they do not securely lock in and would collapse with sideways pressure or heavier weights. The company should use thicker aluminum there and add a sliding piece to slip over the center joint to hold it in place. For pennies, this could be much more trustworthy even if still not safe to rely upon for 176 pounds. Someone asked about use on a hillside and while the legs are adjustable I would think the sideways pressures that would naturally occur in that setting would be unfavorable for anything but lightest use,
On the plus side though it’s very versatile and strikes a balance between form and function. The three layer bamboo plywood is a much nicer looking for picnics or puzzles or light crafts and easy to wipe off. It is very portable and takes up little storage space for such a nice size table. Someone in a studio apartment could use this as a table for hosting someone for dinner or for a desk for a zoom meeting and then fold it out of the way. We will use it for camping, not to hold up a cooler but for lighter items. Short term outdoor use looks reasonable. That’s a lot of uses of a nice looking (for portable) table they should focus on for their marketing.
Edit months later: I put it on it’s side for two months and when I took it out the bamboo slats are separating considerably, like you would not do a puzzle on it anymore. I wrote to King Camp who asked for pictures which I sent. They didn’t have a particular reason for this happening in indoor use but they did honor the wording of the post and replaced it within a week! I was surprised they did replace it. I don’t have to return the first one but I’m not sure what I could use it for either, or how to prevent it from happening with my replacement. But I again have a nice one at almost no hassle on my part at all. I’m relieved it was so easy to replace after so much time.

Recently got into camping and wasn’t sure about whether we really needed a folding table or not. It turned out to be an amazing help when we pulled up to a state park campsite and the provided picnic table looked like it’d recently been drug out of a bog.

For us it served duty as a place to cook on and eat at, but it could just as easily do most any other tabley thing you’d expect.

It’s big enough to hold a portable, two-burner, propane stove (about the size of a large briefcase), a cutting board, a 5-qt pot, a stack of paper plates, and maybe a couple other fixings. It’s a bit short for cooking on if you’re tall, (I’m 6’3″), but the backache is no worse than any you’d get doing dishes for a long time.

It can sit 4 adults comfortably and 6 not comfortably. We don’t have kids, but I reckon you could pack 8 around this thing if they’re smallish.

The table can be setup by just one person and easy to figure out without instructions (it comes with instructions, but who keeps those things anyway). It’s sturdy-ish. The bamboo is solid and the table didn’t budge against 35+ mph wind gusts. Overall an excellent purchase.

We were desperate for a decent table that could actually take a bit of weight but still pack away pretty small – we really take a lot of kit with us so space is at a premium. This table really punches above it’s weight – it has three heights and each foot is also adjustable to deal with uneven ground, it’s perfect for four people to sit round and happily took the weight of cast iron cookware and heavy pressure from the force we have to exert on our espresso machine. All this, and the top folds in four so it’s a long cylinder to pack away, much easier to find space for in the car than a big inflexible rectangle. So good we’re getting another one for next year so we can have one inside and one outside!

This table is the easiest to set up and take down and fold easily to store. It is a nice looking table and very sturdy. There are 4 different height adjustments, depending on your current use. I love it.

I got this table to take with me when I work remotely. I does a great job, doesn’t wobble, supports my 32” screen, and is just the right size for a remote office table. Furthermore it looks nice 🙂 I am so glad to have found a portable table that is not plastic.
