I have used K&N filters for many years and have never had an issue with any of them.
This filter was installed in my 2018 Ram 3500 with the 6.7l Cummins and I am seeing a big improvement in mass air flow and a bit better throttle response.

Installed on 2019 Ram 2500, went across Canada to the Rockies towing a 35 ft trailer. Filter makes a difference when pushing the truck hard. Good purchase.

Took 3 times before I got the correct filter! When I got the correct filter it is great and fits perfect.

Ordered the 33-5005 and kept getting a 33-2460 delivered. The box had 33-2460 on it in two different spots but one of the spots had a 33-5005 sticker covering it. Had two separate filters shipped like this, third time as the charm and I got the correct one!

I got this cabin air filter to help with alegeries and to keep the cab air clean works perfect for both of those. It fit a 2020 ram powerwagon 2500 it should fit other models. It’s easy to install and easy to clean. I would recommend a cleaning and oiling kit.

My former profession was an Accounts Payable Auditor for the phone company.
Here’s my documented facts so far.

Was able to document a (1.9 & 2.2) MPG increase in diesel fuel mileage after installing my K&N Air filter into my deleted 2013 Ram 3500 dually truck.

Price of diesel has changed from $1.89/gal on 4-24-20 to now costing me $5.45/gal on 2-24-23. I have the receipts showing the price paid per gallon since 1-28-20. They’re loaded into an Excel spreadsheet documenting my travels to 23 states (post retirement) collecting travel fuel receipts towing my 5th wheel. Excel doesn’t lie or deceive.

I like facts, not manipulative marketing pitches, glossy brochures, nor any baloney. I was raised in the “Show Me” state called Missouri. These are the questions I had to get answers to for my comfort spending $119.99 on this part:
    – Did I want to save money on my fuel costs?
    – Did I want to quit buying air filters?
    – Definitely wanted to help my truck breath.
    – Would this purchase accomplish these? Yes….. check!
Well, I finally got those questions answered and I purchased my K&N 33-5005 filter on 1-24-2023. Wish I had in January 2020 when I bought the truck.

Now it’s your choice. You decide, what you know is best for you.

Direct fit into my 2020 Ram 2500 6.4 HEMI.
Dropped it in screwed down the air box and went for a test drive.
It opened up the throttle response, you can now hear the intake. Opened it up quite nicely.
I also took off my resonator and the truck sounds better.
Not sure of the MPG’s yet. Holding the same for now. 12.3 thru 13.5, I live at 7000′ in mountainous terrain.
    Enjoy

I had changed out my filter and noticed a huge increase in DPF Regen cycles, about every 30 miles. Did some reading and found that some trucks don’t work well with the filters that have the glue strips holding the pleats. These filters can collapse and cause restrictive air flow which increases soot.

I also read that some Cummins don’t like the K&N filters, either. They will throw a CEL for underboost.

I put mine in this morning and just finished an hour and a half drive. Truck immediately went into Regen (it was already at 50% when I put the filter in). I noticed a 2-3 mpg increase on the fuel use indicator, less lag in engine response going from a stop to moving at about 10mph. And absolutely no climb in the DPF full indicator. Still no CEL at this point. Seems like the Cummins may be hit and miss with the air filters. Some like the paper elements with the glue strips, some like the K&N.

Edit: After driving a while, my truck did start regenning, again. Not as often as before, but still way more than it should be doing. Ended up hunting down a MOPAR filter and was able to go from 30 miles per regen with Doc’s, to 95-110 miles with K&N, and MOPAR is getting 250. Still more than double normal intervals that should be expected, but way better than before.
My conclusion is that unless you tune for a different filter, you’ll see problems with the 5th gen Cummins.
