This is my fifth set of white nylon tape wounds. I am a senior-senior, have carpel-tunnel and arthritis in both hands, wrists and most fingers. Just playing (let alone practicing) is painful; yet, these strings are so easy on my fingers, I truly can play longer with less pain. They don’t have a lot of tension-no they aren’t steel flats and don’t growl, yet they produce a mellow and quite deep tone with surprising range if I shift to the bridge more than the neck. I have sets on a P-Bass, Shectors, 2 Yamaha’s and putting a set just in on a Peavy Grind. And equally important: I large shout out the provider: Sweetwater Music & Pro Audio. Every set of strings comes with a little bag of sweets, and a big and most genuine thank you. They appreciate your business. The strings always arrive on time or early and never damaged. They sound just “sweet”-mellow or growly on any of my basses. They are easy on my fretboards (I don’t really dig in a lot) and can jump on them hard when the fingers don’t throb. The white strings are unique and seem to fit/blend in on each of my basses just fine (No, they aren’t neon, thank goodness). I heartily recommend these strings and the distributor, Sweetwater. I’ll be ordering another set soon.

I have been playing bass for 35 years and I have to say that these strings are the best I have ever used, no question. They have the brightness and tone of roundwound strings but have the smoothness of flatwound strings. Yes they are more expensive but are well worth the money. I have had a set of la Bella black tapewound on my other Jazz bass for over a year and they sound as good as the day they were first put on (I usually change my strings 3 or 4 times a year so have already saved money), so assuming that the white tapewound will last as long they are good value.

I have used D’Addario flats for over a decade, but decided to try these on a bass that has higher string height/tension. These are the lowest tension strings I’ve ever used. Sound is great. Feel is smoother than D’Addario tape wounds. They are fun to play.

These strings are great. They’re versatile, very easy on the hands and on the fretboard if you’re playing fretless. They have a low tension feel, but can be tuned down a lot further than other strings. I was able to tune a 4 string bass to drop A with them, and they handled it surprisingly well. These are definitely my new choice of string for fretless bass.

These strings are not really white…the only reason I bought them! The tape is a white(ish)/gray(ish) somewhat transparent material. I guess calling it white is better for marketing purposes though. Other than that, I have no issues with the product or the seller.

It’s the first time I’ve used this brand.
I’m very pleased with the qualirty, feel and I suppose most importantly the tone, I’m using them on a Status Fretless and the tone, volume and tension is perfect for me.
I’ve even opted to purchase a set of La Bella flatwound golds for my thunderbird on the strength of how these have performed. I’ve not received those yet but I’m looking forward to receiving them.

Las cambié por unas ernie ball flatwounds, que sonaban metálicas… pero una de las cuerdas llegó defectuosa. Después de meses de esperar la garantÃa, me desesperé y me decidà a probar con Tapewounds, y elegà éste modelo de LaBella…
¡Y acerté de lleno!
Una muy agradable textura lisa… un sonido cálido, muy suave, pero que conserva ese brillo de instrumento electroacústico.
Es el complemento ideal para mi bajo acústico fretless.
En conclusión: Valen cada centavo que pagas por ellas.

The short review: IMHO if you’re looking for tape wounds for your bass, D’Addario ETB 92s are the way to go. And here’s why: The Labella’s are quality strings and are bright, as advertised, but the DAs seem to have more body, punch and output. My biggest problem with the LAs was the surface was TOO slick and the tension was ridiculously rubbery. The DAs in comparison are smooth but with enough texture and the right amount of tension so that you’re not sliding all over the fretboard. Just my thoughts. Cheers.

If you don’t already know, tape wounds are typically pretty dull sounding. That can be a great thing in the right context, but limits them. These white tape strings have a much clearer sound than normal tapewounds. They do a great job of cutting off the high frequencies that are going to get lost in the mix anyways and focus a nice thick sound while still retaining lots of bright character.
The strings are extremely light. I tune my 4 string up a step to F# and on a 34in scale it provides a very nice solid feel. I couldn’t bear them in standard tuning. The strings are well balanced.
