LAUNCH OBD2 Scanner CRP123E Elite, Lifetime Updates

The LAUNCH CRP123E OBD2 scanner is an outstanding tool for car enthusiasts like myself or for a mechanic shop. This scanner is great at diagnosing and troubleshooting the most common engine issues. It can also read fault codes and resolve issues with the transmission, srs, and abs modules. I was able to read the transmission fluid temperature, and successfully re-learned the throttle body for my Acura. One of the features of this scanner is its ability to read live data and provide detailed diagnostic reports.. This is a very nice and easy to use vehicle scanner. Really like how it has auto connect to get the vehicle vin# and that you can also choose to have it send the scan report to your e-mail. The touch screen is a good size, responds quickly to the touch and is easy to read. Also another bonus is that it doesn’t just give you a code to look up, but it tells you the issue and you can also go to the data library and put the code in and it gives a nice detailed report on what the code means. I highly recommend this scanner. It’s also compact enough that you can take it with you on trips for the just in case something happens.

Using this OBD reader I was able to resolve my airbag warning light problem on my 2009 Mazda 3. Using the codes from the reader and internet research I was able to fix the problem which in my case turned out to be a burned out bulb for the Passenger Airbag Disable warning indicator light. This OBD reader was easy to setup: time zone, WiFi and email address. I like the feature of being able to send the diagnostic report to my email. And the ability to clear codes. Also, doing the updates is easy on this model using the built in WiFi. It was definitely time to replace my outdated OBD reader of over 10+ years and I would have paid around $200 at the dealership just to have the diagnostics done. Now I have this amazing ODB reader for future car maintenance. I did not rate Tech Support because I did not need to use it.

It read and cleared the faults on my car which enabled me to drive it to the garage, to get it fixed. However the fault made it not economically worthwhile. 😭
But it’s a nice bit of kit, maybe overkill for what I needed, but I liked that it updates it’s software. And it even emailed me the report. If you repair cars, you need something like this, I’d say it’s worth the price, it’s nice portable size.

I have a ‘03 Jetta that is a surprisingly great little car considering it’s age. Only problem in the last 5 years is some EVAP stuff which is causing me to fail CA smog check. I really got this scan tool to scan for emissions readiness so I can see which monitors are not ready without running to my auto shop every few days. Yesterday I got my check engine light though, and I used this tool to scan DTC. It told me exactly what my mechanic had suspected last time I was at the shop for the purge valve repair, “very small leak in evap system”. So I knew my mechanic was correct and honest, I knew what was wrong with the car, and I knew I needed to get the smoke test next to find the leak all thanks to this scan tool. It’s AMAZING. Very easy to use, lots of features, and really will save time and money. I am a blonde female so I am immediately pegged by some mechanics as stupid and easy to trick. With this scan tool, google, and my Chilton manual, I can speak to them in their own language.

When you get this scan tool just charge it up; CHARGER IS IN THE CARRY CASE! Then connect to your WiFi and update! Then plug it into your port in your car and turn on the ignition. You can get a full health report. My VIN was not auto-detected, that was my only disappointment but no big deal. I was able to clear an old airbag code that was due to my battery dying, and then I found my leak. Everything else checked out.

wish I got this sooner, actually, it is sooo informative. You can leave it plugged in when you drive and get live data too. I’ll do that when my car is back from the mechanic. I’ll update my review if anything changes, but I highly recommend you try this scan tool.

Update: one month later I finally got my monitors ready and the photo shows the live data report for my car. Took it for smog and passed. Those monitors are a main component of smog check. So if they all pass, you will probably pass (they still have to inspect, and check tailpipe output, but monitors are main thing). In my state it’s legal for them to charge you over and over even if you fail. So knowing you will pass or fail ahead of time really adds up savings. My mechanic charges twice EVEN IF THEY do the repairs. Sux but never again!
