Had to connect in concert with compatible LG tv speakers to get best range of sound. I tried all of the combinations possible including adjusting the equalizer (best) but then had to keep adjusting it for each type of listening. Really low bass is great at most volumes and midrange improves at higher than normal volume but still not great but OK. I really like how the sound bar looks and fits perfectly with 55โ tv. My old Samsung setup is better overall but itโs a 6 speaker surround sound so hardly the same to compare. Still happy with this purchase and might try adding satellite speakers to get the best sound.

The LG S80QR has good sound quality for the price I paid, $596 US. It paired nicely with my LG OELD55CXPUA using the HDMI-ARC cable included. It has super crisp and clear dialog and fills my 400sqft den with immersive 5.1.3 ch sound. Was easy to set up, however, the enclosed manual sucks so you’ll need to go to LG support and download the info and I highly recommend the SB app for your phone as the remote comes up short on ease of use. The three upfiring speakers on the soundbar make a huge difference when watching movies in Dolby Atmos and the center one during dialog. The rear speakers compliment the sound bar with great surround sound. The huge sub woofer comes up short in bass if that’s important to you. You can tweek dynamics/levels within the phone app mixer. Connectivity is ok, it did drop HDMI-ARC once in past month to where I had to restart both TV and SB after a 2 minute unplug wait. WIFI did kick in when HDMI dropped. Bluetooth works great with my android phone but will not connect to my Intel based PC. All PC drivers have been updated but my PC won’t “allow” the connection even though it paired. Has a lot of useful features and I look forward to adding a BlueRay player next.

Great sound, easy setup.

I replaced an older LG sound bar that had become intermittent.
This model has many more features and works flawlessly. The ability to use AI to adjust the sound effects is great.
Packaging was robust and even though I saw the UPS driver drop the box trying to lift it, there was no damage whatsoever. The remote control gives much more control over adjusting the sound and the Soundbar app works well to control all the features.

Got this item during a boxing week sale. Superior quality especially considering the sale price value. Easily syncs with lg tv

At this price point there should be a comprehensive manual. Nope! It’s a very nice sound bar with good bass. This system will not fill a large room, but it works nicely for my setup. Good build quality and finish, a very good looking package. I recommend it for smaller rooms. ๐Also a better remote than you expect.

Bought a new 65โ LG OLED and decided to get a sound bar and sub woofer to go along with it.
After a LOT of deliberation I decided on the LG S90QY. There were a couple of other units that had more features, but this unit does what I need it to and I could not justify paying more for features I probably would never use.
The bar and sub were immediately recognized by the tv and paired automatically. I didnโt have to jump through hoops to get it working like I had to with my previous tv and sound bar. The audio defaults directly to the sound bar, not the tv speakers, when the tv is turned on, something that was hit or miss with my previous set up.
The sound from the bar and sub is very good, not weak or thin. I let the tv control the sound mode, whether Dolby Atmos or cinematic, etc. and Iโm pretty happy with the results. Iโm not an audiophile but do want a clean, full sound which Iโm getting.
Overall, very happy.

Expected more out of the sound. Use the app to get most out of the sound bar. Once you run the auto config the subwoofer will not be loud and havenโt been able to reset it or get it louder. Other than that the surround sound works great.

I should have trusted the negative reviews! I set it up as their nearly worthless document instructed. I connected it to a relatively late model 55″ LG digital TV using the optical cable so I could connect my perfectly working wi-fi bluetooth transmitter in the loop. After 45 minutes of fiddling with their incomprehensibly useless 2″ wide menu-system on the sound bar (scrolling words), I gave up on the bluetooth xmitter and connected the sound bar directly to the TV. In a word the sound was crap! I also could not correct the latency between the Sony BD player and the sound bar. This is the first time I’ve EVER experienced any kind of latency in my audio/wi-fi systems (I was using a yamaha RX/TX and klipsch speakers, I want to downsize and simplify). I also discovered that all of the AI/other sound adjustment features in my TV are non-op when using the sound bar. They only work with the internal speakers and the sound bar doesn’t have any of that (that I could discern from the instructions)–and I should have to go on line to find a user-guide to do basic setup! Also, even though it was claimed in the ad that I could control both the TV and sound bar w/ the TV remote, every time I turned the system off & on, it would revert back to separate controllers and I’d have to reset the sound bar to work w/ the TV remote. And of course, their menu system and controls are insanely stupidly organized. As I said, I should have believed the negative reviews. As it was I boxed it up and returned it the next day. Hopefully, other companies make sound bars that are better designed and that actually work well. Lastly as a BTW, I generally like and trust LG. Our TVs, washer, dryer, oven, and microwave are all LG. They all work well, but the bells and whistles stuff is a bit flakey sometimes (like the oven wi-fi that you cannot disable), and for some reason they really like stupid, childish music as alert tones. It must be a Korean thing. Bottom line: unless you like spending hours figuring out how to use poorly designed, poor quality sound equipment, avoid this like the plague!
