The bridge was not cut properly, the tailpiece ended up breaking too. It’s worth the money, but expect to replace some parts.

I took this to my local music shop and the professional there went over it, fine tuned a couple of things, found the rosin that I didn’t know was in there, played a little on it and it sounded great….to my untrained ears. 😂 I’m very glad I purchased this.

Looks great, sounds wonderful! The tone of this instrument is absolutely lovely. I have upgraded the strings and pegs, so it is very easy to play. Recommend Pirastro (or Jargar) strings and PegHed geared pegs for this setup. With these upgrades and a fine, permanduco bow, this instrument really sings! I am delighted with my purchase.

I’ve played different kinds of cellos ranging from $5,000 to broken school cello. This one isn’t too bad. Considering that most entry level cellos begin around the $400 range, it’s a good deal. The craftsmanship of the cello is ok, from far away it looks really good, but then you get closer, and you can see drip marks from the paint or lacquer. The bow is cheap, but better than nothing. Moving on to the bridge, you will have to file down the grooves where the strings sit, and you will have to fit it on the instrument (just watch a YouTube video). The tone of the instrument is very harsh and aggressive and requires good bow angle and pressure. It also doesn’t resonate too well, it almost sounds too sharp. Over all, this instrument it really good for beginners to try if they are unsure if they want to continue playing the cello. If you’re past the beginner stage, spend the extra money for an entry level cello

I looked at the reviews for this and was very hopeful I’d receive a cello that maybe wasn’t the prettiest, but could preform the bare minimal. It was an absolute waste of money and I am very disappointed. Besides it being the most “unique” looking cello I’ve ever seen (which I expected for that cheap price), it is not capable of holding a tune due to the useless strings and loose pegs. My bow immediately broke as I carefully tried to tighten it as well. There are too many little things that I would need to pay to get fixed or to get entirely new parts, so I might as well have just gotten an actually decent cello. I didn’t have very high expectations and I certainly have learned my lesson that what you pay for is what you get!

I am an experienced ‘cellist, and an amateur luthier, so replacing the defective tail gut and cutting the bridge were no trouble at all. The ‘cello is well made. Unexpectedly, the bridge feet fit the belly properly. The bridge came with a very weird, unplayable shape, with the C side 5mm too high. The A string is hard to play, but I never intended to use the strings it came with. It sounds like a real ‘cello with a mute.

I expected this to be terrible. When students come to me with purple flutes or green saxophones I just roll my eyes because I know they will never make a sound. THIS FREAKING WORKS! I will admit that the strings were a complete raveled mess and I had to restring the entire instrument, the bridge needed to have its grooves filed down, and the tension pegs need a little “breaking in” (intensely slamming them against the cello) or else they fall out of tune every 10 minutes, but wow, does this make a pretty decent sound! I can’t believe how easy and responsive this instrument is. This obviously isn’t a permanent instrument, but for any adult beginners on a budget who are looking to pick up a new instrument, I would highly recommend this. I had no problems with shipping or damage to my cello either.
