Majority 1080P Region Free HDMI DVD Player

These days most people have a DVD/CD player or two or three, but when I saw the versatility of the connection options with this player, I decided to go for it. The Good: HDMI allows direct connection to a computer monitor or smart TV. The USB connection also allows this. As an amature musician I am always looking for alternative ways to playback my music lessons. This unit precisely plays both the DVD lessons I have as well as the essential CD practice soundtracks. It comes with a very nice easy to use remote that has spot on slow motion and repeat features that are valuable for learning tunes. Play features are HD, HDCD, DVD, Compact Disk/Digital Audio, MP3, and CD Video. Extremely light weight and small in size. It fits well with my other devices during practice sessions and it is easy to pack when I need to travel. The open/close drawer operates very smoothly and all the controls on the unit are touch friendly. However, I find that the remote control is far superior in ease and accessability and I use that regularly. Being able to play CD tracks through my desktop using the HDMI connection is very helpful when I want to play a sound track along with a DVD lesson. I have played many DVDs from Scotland, Ireland and the UK including the Transatlantic Sessions and this unit plays those flawlessly without any need to choose a region. It is truly region free. The unit I received is very quiet and as I indicated, the open/close tray is flawless in operation. I know, I have several other DVD players, but this very compact and versatile unit will get some real play time. I also need to mention that it apparently comes with a three year warranty. Included are all the cables, HDMI, USB and RCA. I do have an older television that I sometimes use so the RCA plugs will be helpful if I decide to use that for playback. I also have lessons that were recorded on CD Video so this unit provides me with another alternative for playback.
The not so good features are minimal: Does not come with batteries for the remote and you need to get 2 AAA batteries (I like to use the rechargeables and they last a long time). Just be ready to add batteries as you will want to use this unit right away. Control buttons on the unit are limited to open/close, play/pause, stop. (But, as I mentioned the remote is superior and quite convenient to use for my music lessons. The slow motion and repeat functions are very precise and easy to use). No other negatives from my usage experience. If you are looking for a DVD/CD player that has convenient versatile connectivity, great picture quality, light weight for packing and travel and exceptional convenience for playback of music lessons, this is a very nice value. Welcomed addition to my music learning journey. Although I have tried to attach some pictures, you really need to see the unit in action to appreciate the true quality. I do own other devices from this company that is, I believe, located in the United Kingdom and I have been very satisfied with the quality of those players as well. Cheers.

Recieved today afternoon on 17.2.2024. packing is very filthy. Even the paper box in which the manufacturer packed the DVD player is very cheap and unprotective during transport. How ever to the good luck of mine item recieved in good condition. Installed today evining and played audio CD and audio DVD and USB 2.0 too. All are played well. Construction of the player is not strong at all and to some extent delicate.should be taken care to place the player on a good protective surface. No karaoke functionality. Remote is plasticky and lite to handle. Can not withstand droppings from hands.Automtically detects CD/DVD and starts playing. I played Indian CDs and DVDs only. My rating is 4stars. I have used blue rigger HDMI 4k cable for soundbar connection.

This was a great bargain for a region-free DVD player. The remote works well, and it sets up quickly. But, the picture seems to be stuck in small mode. My Spidey movie was stuck only in the middle of my screen, with huge margins. And since this didn’t some with instructions, I can’t figure out how to fix it even after combing the entire settings menus. But hey, it’s a great little player for the money!

Needed a dvd player to play multi region dvds. As like many I now stream programs I didn’t want to be paying a fortune. This little player is not only reasonably priced, it’s well made and easy to use. Just plug in and play. What’s more Majority planted a tree for this purchase.
Looking at some of the other reviews I felt there was a need for clear explanations.

1. No, the buttons on the remote control are not small, there are just a lot of them. The Majority controller is the middle one of my three remotes and definitely not too small. I would suggest all you need to do is to familiarise yourself with your new remote’s layout -ergo, no problems.

2. As advertised – the remote does not come with free batteries, but at the very reasonable price of the appliance you can not expect that (next people will be asking for Majority to pay their electricity bill!). It is no hardship to provide your own.

3. Once again as advertised – the package arrives with the player, the remote and RCA cables, therefore it should not surprise anyone when there is no HMDI cable included. You can buy an HMDI cable for as little as £6:38.

4. Yet again – as advertised this is a slim mini dvd player. If you wanted a bigger one, don’t go buying a slim mini.

Set up.
I did receive a leaflet concerning the basic setting up, but actually this is so simple. It’s literally plug in and play. I connected the dvd player to the TV using an HMDI cable (from my previous dvd player), plugged the electric plug into the electric socket and turned on.
I have not accessed the online manual as everything on the remote control is self explanatory.
Mine was set up to show English subtitles, used the obvious button on the remote control ‘set up’, went to subtitles and selected off.
Picture was very clear, but wanted the 16:9 ratio, so once again going to ‘set up’ selected TV and chose 16:9 ratio.
All set up, running and ready to play within five minutes of taking it out if it’s box.

Performance.

Plays all dvds (I have not tried CDs yet and will probably not use the USB port).
A very faint, gentle purr is heard when the disc is initially read, certainly a lot quieter than my older, larger and more expensive machine. Once initial reading has taken place, there is no additional noise from the player. Picture and sound are both clear and crisp. No problems loading the disc into the slot, this slot is no more fussy at accepting a disc than any other appliance I’ve had. You just have to be respectful of both the disc and player and look what you’re doing. The remote control works quickly and effortlessly, no lag from pressing buttons, no problems pressing buttons and clear indication of which button is for what purpose, as I said before, just use your common sense and familiarise yourself with your new gadget.

As an added bonus it came well packaged in its own box, which in turn was inside an Amazon brown bag to hide the contents and it arrived within 30 hours of ordering. I can definitely recommend this dvd player.

 Firstly, I have been asked to review this DVD player for Majority. However, this request will in no way sway my review, which will be my honest opinion of the product. Secondly, the price point. When I purchased this from Amazon it was listed at £24.95, that makes this a cheap purchase, but at the time of purchase there was a 20% discount available, bringing the price down further. If the DVD player is any good (more of that later, but five stars certainly gives an indication!) then it is a bargain. Finally, why buy a DVD player? Well, in the age of streaming, bluray, 4K, and so on, those of us of a certain age have a plethora of old DVD’s that aren’t available to stream, have never been upgraded to bluray or are simply our own home movies. Although bluray players are backwards compatible, there are plenty of situations where a DVD player will be ideal. Do you want an expensive DVD player in the kitchen, caravan or holiday home, or child’s bedroom? The unit is small and neat. It could easily be used on the kitchen TV, then taken to the caravan for the weekend, as an example.
As with all products from this company, the product is well packaged and includes a remote and RCA cables. This is handy to connect to an older TV or where all HDMI ports are in use. The remote has many features, which I will come to in more detail later. The instruction manual is online, which is a good move today, where people are so much more aware of the environment and the amount of paper that is wasted. Let’s be honest, a quick flick through a manual and then it sits at the back of a cupboard until it’s thrown out. A twelve-month standard warranty can be extended to three years, and at the price of the product that is truly excellent; the DVD player is less than the price of an extended warranty for high end items.
The picture quality is exceptional for the price. The DVD in the video is ‘Acorn Antiques The Musical!’ by Victoria Wood. The picture is sharp, the colours good, neither saturated nor washed out. The sound is also good, dialogue is clear, the music sounds excellent. I have tried several genres of DVD, from musical, comedy, drama and all are equally good. Laughter, which can often show signs of distortion at higher volumes, remains clear.
For a budget price, this is not a budget player. It has a USB slot for playing media from a USB stick. It can play DVD’s, CD’s and is a multi-region player. I don’t have any multi-region discs, so have not been able to try that aspect, but I cannot imagine a problem, everything else works so well.
The remote has many features and is easy to use. The obvious, chapter skip, fast forward, and rewind I had up to x64 speed, and it was easy to follow whereabouts you were if you were trying to locate a specific point. It also has a zoom feature, which enlarges the picture to enable you to see more detail, and you can repeat a particular chapter if you missed something or it just happens to be your favourite part. That is also useful if you use it to play CD’s of course.
The unit itself is compact and well built. As it is very light it is easy to move from room to room. The power cable is built in, which means there is no chance of losing it. It is easy to use, and an excellent quality, feature rich, DVD player. It is ideal for those rooms where streaming isn’t available and is recommended for anyone who has gone down the streaming route and is now wondering how to play all those old DVD’s that aren’t available.
Although I have been asked to review this product as part of a demo, I am astonished at the quality and features it possesses at this price point. I would have expected (in fact did expect) a basic DVD player that did the job. It does do the job, superbly well, and but with bells and whistles as well. I cannot recommend this highly enough.
