Purchased this POS to allow my PC to have WiFi access. I used the sodlftware disk that came with the product and my anti-virus blocked a port scan attempt. Once I restarted my computer i found that 80% of my files had been deleted.

I put this on my test PC, which doesn’t have wifi, and shuffled a few terabytes of data between my NAS and the PC – it seemed a reasonable task!
This dongle uses a Realtek chip, which compares well to the Intel one present on my main PC. The Realtek control panel is clear & easy to understand and provides sufficient useful information about the connection. The unit defaulted to wireless ac and maintained a connection of 867 Mb to the router. the quality of connection varies between 100% and 60% – something that appears to be common when the router is more than 3 metres from the device (mine is at 10% power – the quality may improve with higher output from the router)
I put this unit on a PC running Windows 11 and the software installed without issue.
TLDR: It is fine, works well, and is reasonably small.
Be aware that the driver is provided on a mini-CD so an optical drive will be needed to install – although a link is provided to download it direct…
It would be great if the unit was also provided with Bluetooth, maybe the next version? That said, this little device does its job well enough, with transfer speeds, for me, matching the Gb ethernet connection on the PC – but it had exclusive access to the wireless network so was able to use all the bandwidth available from the router. (I’d anticipate it being faster again on a modern router with wifi 6x)

The USB Wifi adapter is supplied with a small printed manual and even a mini CD-ROM with drivers. I havent seen that for a very long time, so I was expecting ther might be problems getting it running.
In fact it was truly plug and play. I turned off my W10 laptop built-in WiFi and plugged in the USB unit. In just a few seconds the laptop recognised the device, and I could choose my preferred network just by clicking the WiFi icon in the icon tray at the bottom right of the screen. Then I was ready to go – as easy as it could possibly be. I now realise that the CD-ROM was to enable backwards compatibility, so it can be used on much older setups – but I dont have on old PC so cannot confirm how easy the CD-ROM drivers are to set up.
I was very happy with the speed and simplicity of set up, as well as the network speed attained from this device. At a price when reviewed of around £20, its a good value five star product for me.
