Meinl Cymbals HCS Cymbal Set Box Pack Description

  • MAJOR UPGRADE FROM “STOCK” STARTER CYMBALS: these are not those distractingly cheap, flimsy prop cymbals that come with most drum sets; Meinl HCS cymbals have impressive sound and sturdy feel geared toward beginner/intermediate players
  • WHY IT MATTERS: playing HCS cymbals will sound more like what you hear in actual songs, making the drums even more fun to play; plus, they aren’t going to fall apart, dent, or bend after a few uses like stock cymbals
  • WHAT’S IN THE BOX: includes 13โ€ hihats (top and bottom), a 14โ€ crash, a FREE 10โ€ splash, and 1 pair of FREE size 5A hickory drumsticks; plus, you’ll get access to online drum lessons recorded by renowned educator and Meinl Cymbals artist, Mike Johnston
  • DRIVING THE SOUND: made in Germany with MS63 brass alloy for a clean, bright, and crisp tone; substantial thickness with well-formed surface grooves and hammer marks give you a defined sound without clangy or ear-piercing overtones
  • CATCH UP QUICK: HCS exceeds expectations because Meinl brings experience crafting cymbals since 1951; we make HCS and other lines in our German factory, and our top-of-the-line professional Byzance cymbals are hand hammered in Turkey from cast B20 bronze
  • ZOOM IN: the surface shimmers and shines under light, which is a bonus if you like your kit to look beautiful; HCS cymbals also feature the same logo treatment as our professional lines, including a small laser engraved logo and serial number
  • OF NOTE: you can find any sound in the seemingly never-ending selection of cymbal types in the HCS line; all essentials in multiple sizes are covered along with effects cymbals that let you expand your sound with variety
  • THE BOTTOM LINE: these are German made, top-quality entry level cymbals that resemble more high-end models with their crisp, bright tone and musical feel; they have a long lifespan, even for hard hitters, and fit any musical style

The hi-hats I used to have were super screechy. These are a game changer. I wish there was a bit more body to these, but that’s on me for buying 13″ instead of 14″ or 15″. If you’re a drummer on a budget, beginner or professional, these are hard to beat. See what I did there? Drum… joke- never mind.

After playing the cymbal for a few months, I’m still trying to like it. The bell sounds okay, but the cymbal drops off to a muddy metal pretty quick. Perhaps if you like a dark cymbal, this is the one for you.

Great price, great product, great maker, great sound. This is bright little splash with good attack and super-fast decay. I bought it for an effect in a Broadway musical but will find many other applications.

What a great little accent when ya need it… And for the amount of times it gets hit… Not often… The price is great. Good quality cymbal…. Not cheap trash.

I bought those to upgrade from the awful cymbals that came with my first drum set when I was beginning. Granted this is a VERY good price for a cymbal set- the high hats sound more like a cowbell than high hats when you’re trying to play them close. These are VERY THICK cymbals. They don’t have a nice hiss/chatter to them, they go from 0-10 the moment you open them up a millimeter, and sound very loud… and not in a good way. If you’re looking for something to smack for practice these are perfect for you. If you plan on recording any music or using these to play a gig, even a small one- look elsewhere. I’ve since purchased a few cymbals from Zildjian, and I’m much more pleased with the quality. Perhaps I was expecting too much and I’m being too harsh in this review, please feel free to comment, I’m by no means an expert. Just giving my honest opinion. TL:DR- this package gives you quantity but lacks in quality.

I needed a little splash cymbal to complete my kit, and this little one provides just the right tone
