    1. Easy To Clean & Decorate

I absolutely LOVE this cage. The full sized doors are one of my favorite features of this cage. All I have to do to clean up is open the doors and wipe the trays down. Boom, that simple. No taking apart cages, no lifting up bars off of a plastic base, no more sticking arms through tiny doors to redecorate, none of that. It is so super easy to get in there and clean from corner to corner without the frustration and pain of jamming your arms through small doors, or lifting the whole top off of a plastic base.

    2. The Space Is Awesome

The amount of space in this cage compared to other cages I’ve had, is fantastic. Having 3 ferrets, they need quite a bit of room to move around and play. This cage gives them a lot of room. Not only do they have 2 full floors, but also the 2 half floors. Inside this cage I have two 3 tier hammocks, a cozy cave hammock, a critter space pod, 2 midwest stainless food dishes, a double cat food dish, 1 large dog water bowl, 3 lock crock dishes (I use for treats), 1 large tunnel, 2 corner litter pans (Bandit loves to sleep in them), and the bottom to their old cage which I use as a giant litter box.

    3. No Potentially Dangerous Falls

With the 2 full sized levels of the double unit, there is no potential for dangerous falls. Ferrets like to jump around and play. Some of the cages out there have half tiers going all the way up the cage. If a ferret falls from that top tier and hits the bottom of the cage, it could potentially be fatal. This cage doesn’t have that issue.

    4. Sturdy, Solid & Escape Proof

This cage is a beast, not only in size, but in sturdiness. This thing is heavy and solid. My ferrets are true escape artists. First off, they will scratch/chew their way out of anything if they can. They will find a way to open doors or squeeze through bars. Especially Booger, since she is much smaller than my other two. Which is why I got the critter nation, because of the smaller bar spacing. There is no way she is opening these doors or squeezing through these bars. The only time they “escape” is when I open their doors.

    5. Happy Ferrets = Happy Owner

My trio of ferrets is happy in their new, much bigger cage. They have plenty of dishes, plenty of napping spots, and plenty of space to jump around and tackle each other. Smokey loves that she has so much space to scatter her food. She’s my messy girl. Bandit loves that he can nap in any part of the cage. He’s my lazy boy. And Booger is just happy to be with her friends in a nice big cage. She’s my sweet girl. My ferrets are happy, which makes me happy.

I would absolutely recommend this cage for ferrets. Especially if you have a smaller ferret, as I do. Easy to clean, Spacious, Safe, Solid & Escape Proof. Perfect.

I bought this 4 floor cage for my 3 Guinea Pigs and woah, they LOVE it. Whoever said guinea pigs can’t climb? They love climbing the angular ladders in these cages (designed for critters to climb easily), and it is quite a fun activity for them to climb up and down. Also keeps them fit with the exercise.

When I first kept them in, they were popcorning and having Zoomies for a long time. They absolutely loved it.

The cage is spacious for my 3 pigs, and a lot can be done with the cage in terms of going creative with toys, houses, food, hay and water bowls/dispensers, games, hanging hammocks, etc. The ladders come with a soft covering which is great on my piggies’ feet. Whenever I take them out, they can’t wait to go back lol. The size of each level is also optimum as you can find a lot of base pads for guinea pigs made for that exact same size.

In terms of assembly, it took me 2 hrs to assemble the cage, and I had one more person to help me.

The assembly is great, and the cage is sturdy. It has a base level when you can also store guinea pig stuff like food, toys, houses, etc. Also comes with wheels so it is easy to maneuver while cleaning/moving. The doors lock nicely and the cage feels like it is made of good quality metal.

Since I got this cage, my guinea pigs have been very happy and active.

I would definitely recommend this cage for guinea pigs.

Double Check Before You Buy This
I bought what was supposed to be a critter nation under this listing. It is called the critter nation (at least currently), and described as model 161/162, which is also the critter nation. However some of the questions and answers under the product refer to the ferret nation, and the pictures in the description and customer pictures are of both. I’m not sure if they use this listing for both and switch between them or what, but it makes things very confusing and they should fix it.
I received the ferret nation instead, I couldn’t exchange it from the seller since they didn’t have the other in stock, so I had to send it back and reorder it for a higher price. I suppose I should have been a little suspicious because I had never seen the critter nation that cheap before…
But the point is, whether you want the CN or the FN, as long as this listing is still confused with the pics and description, contact the seller and make sure you’re getting the one you want before you buy it.

As for the actual cage itself, it is a great cage. This is my second one, and I attached the two double cages side by side to make a quad. It is spacious and the design is decent. I would highly recommend it, but wait for it to be on sale. The CN is great for rats, the bar spacing is small enough that they can’t get out and they are horizontal so it does allow climbing. The layout is made so you can hang things almost anywhere, and if you want to separate the top and bottom sections of the cage (either for cleaning or separating the animals) you can by hooking the ladder up. If you want the separated at all times you can also switch the top and bottom pans so the hole is covered. The wheels also make it easier to clean.

It does have some flaws though. It can be hard to put together because the pieces don’t always line up perfectly and you will need to hammer them into place. The new shelves are a bit uneven as well. The old shelf pans clipped under the shelf, and they were very nice but more difficult to clean. The new ones fixed that, they are much easier to clean and have a lip now, but they are not quite as secure and sometimes they sit on an angle, though it shouldn’t cause any problems.
And some people do not like that the cage doesn’t have a pan for bedding/litter, however liners are much easier and if you really want you can buy pans that fit the bottom.

I love this cage for my rats, but I’m not so happy with amazons listing at the moment, if they fix it I will change this.

I finally upgraded from a single to a double when I bought the upper level this week. Building the top was so much easier than the original single just because I struggled with putting the bottom shelf together alone. The cage is perfect with the wide opening doors. It makes cleaning very easy. The trays slide right out the front. The horizontal bars have such a small margin of spacing that this cage can house any rodent.
The good parts being said, both the single and double that I ordered months apart, both came from Amazon with damages. Nothing that couldn’t be handled. I did contact Midwest over the phone because the single arrived with both plastic pans having huge cracks. The shelf pan had a busted corner and wasn’t usable, and I had already built the cage, so Midwest sent me replacements for free after I sent them photos. Their customer support is top notch and even though the pans could have been a bit better protected in the packaging, Amazon crushed the corner of the box.
Last night I took the double out of the box and all seemed well at first. The pans were perfect this time but when I put the back cage wall up I noticed one of the metal squared peg holes was bent with the red plastic protector still inside of it. Luckily it wasn’t something a hammer couldn’t fix. I tapped on it enough to reposition it where it belongs, and used the claw of the hammer to pry it back into a square shape, then I was able to hammer the side wall down so the peg fit into the square, so all is well and it’s a tight fit.
When it comes to pet homes, bigger is always better. My 2 rats are loving their expanded mansion.

This cage is absolutely amazing for housing your furry friends, in my case specifically: rats! This cage provides so much space and the bar spacing is perfect for providing security and allowing my rats to explore their cage safely. It also makes arranging your cage, hanging items/beds/hides so much easier and makes whatever you fit to the bars more stable. It was fairly easy to put together by myself, and the instructions were very handy. Maybe if you struggle with pushing things into place or need to be careful about how much strength you exert, it would be a good idea to grab an extra pair of hands to help you! I can’t compliment this cage enough, the wide doors now allow me to clean with so much more ease, and the removable base allowed me to add a deeper section using a plastic base for bedding. I also love that I could stack these cages however much I wanted to (and plan to, when I get more space!). Overall, my rats are very happy with their new space, as you can see in the video!
