I’m a service plumber and have been dragging cords around for a while because I didn’t want to replace all my Dewalt batteries. I was never crazy about my Dewalt tools. I’ve been asking around if anyone wants to buy a Dewalt sawzall and drill and everyone just laughs so I think the general consensus is that the yellow tools suck. I don’t want to turn this into a Dewalt bash.
This Milwaukee set goes above and beyond what I expected. The batteries hold a full charge for days until I need it. I don’t use them all day, just here and there throughout the week. The sawzall just rips through everything so far. I can’t believe I never owned an impact driver before, but it is quickly turning into my favorite tool. Haven’t had a need for the hammer drill yet, but the drill works just fine.
Everything feels solid and runs smooth. I have a corded Milwaukee sawzall and that thing has been destroying everything put in its way for 8 years now. That tool has been beat to hell and still running like the first day I got it. That was a major selling point for this set.
    Could not be happier!

I have always had good lick with Milwaukee tools. This set is no different. I have has these tools for over three years and they are still holding up like the day I bought them. Granted I only use them around the house and not out on the jobsite. Still they are heavy duty and high quality. The hammer drill feature was a selling point for me since I had a project that required drilling into cement block. The drill performed well and I finished the project in no time. Having two batteries included speeds up this process.
CONS: For me there aren’t very many cons. These sets always seem to include a flashlight. In the 3 years I’ve owned this set I think I’ve used the light MAYBE twice. And even then it was only for a few minutes.
It is nice to have the case to hold all of the tools but it is just a soft-sided bag. So you basically just throw the tools in there and carry it off. Something more rigid would be better in my mind but might add more weight.
Lastly, I have had occasional trouble getting the batteries to connect properly in the charger. I’ll put the battery in and come back to the charger when the other battery dies only to find the one in the charger didn’t make a connection so is also still dead. This happens only occasionally but is still frustrating to be put on hold while waiting for a battery to charge.
PROS: Two included batteries. Batteries have a button to push and will show how much charge is left.
Sawzall has lots of power to get through a wide variety of materials.
Heavy Duty and durable tools all around.

I work for Austin Contractor Services and I’m a fireplace service technition/installer/sheet medal production for chimney caps, fire stops, and custom shrouds for anyone/so on so forth. We install fireplaces, insulation, garage doors, and gutters for houses and spray foam for commercial property. My co-workes had bought these kits about 1 1/2 years ago.2 sets bought at Granger with a trade in deal and one compbo bought at HomeDepot when when they sold them that way.Now HomeDepot changed and they sell them one tool at a time, and so did Granger. Can’t find a set for under 500.00 retail so I’ve been holding out with my 24volt Dewalt sawzaw and my Ridget 18volt combo kit.My tools had been good for 4 years and this is how I make my money.Last weekend I charged my Dewalt sawzaw batt and Ridget batts and only one held a charge. All I had left was my drill.Lost money on the deal.Well… got mad and bought this when I saw it.Amazon rocks. These people came to my recue.Fast shipping with no charge. So happy! These tools are amazing.Even when new my Dewalt and Ridget could not keep up.These Milwaukee tools are so much better it’s like night and day!In a way not cool because I spent more on my old tools then I did for the entire Milwaukee kit….:)

This is probably the best 18v cordless set available. When I was shopping I narrowed it down to lithium-ion sets by either Makita or Milwaukee. I ultimately chose Milwaukee because the batteries got slightly better reviews.

    HAMMER DRILL/DRIVER
    PROs
    -All metal chuck
-LED light above the hand-grip illuminates the work surface and stays lit for 5 seconds after I let off the trigger. This comes in handy for dimly lit corners.

    CONs (nothing noted)

    IMPACT DRIVER
    PROs
-Compact size is very helpful in tight spaces.
-LED light above the hand-grip illuminates the work surface and stays lit for 5 seconds after I let off the trigger. This allows me to see what I’m doing as I position the next screw.
-The pull-out collar allows for quick bit changes.
-Its great to bore pilot holes with the Hammerdrill, and drive screws with the impact driver without having to change between bits on a single drill.

    CONs
-This Impact driver doesn’t have a clutch to prevent driving fasteners too deep, but the veriable speed trigger allows for good control. I haven’t yet had a need for a clutch, but I’ll be cautious when screwing into soft finish-grade material(Think ‘a sheet of cork, as a dart-board backer’).
-I found it to be a little under powered when removing 4″ trim screws from stair treads which were glued down. The driver removed 90% of the screws successfully, but there were a few that it couldn’t budge. For all other jobs its had plenty of torque.

    SAWZALL
    PROs
-The quick release for changing blades is the easiest I’ve ever used.

    CONs
-It drains the battery rather quickly.

    WORK LIGHT
    PROs
    -Surprisingly bright
-Fold-out hook is bound to come in handy one day.

    CONs
-I would have liked an LED light instead of Xenon incandescent. That would have made for longer run time on a charge and the LEDs themselves would have lasted much longer than the traditional bulb.

    BATTERIES and CHARGER
    PROs
-The fuel gauge feature on the battery packs is a definite plus. Just push the button on the battery and it lights up with either 1.. 2.. 3.. or 4 LEDs to show the remaining charge.
-Batteries fully charge in one hour.

    Cons
-Occasionally, the battery does not ‘seat’ properly on the charger and I need to gently push it down for the light on the charger to come on.
Note: When I first received this set in the mail one battery charged properly, but the other caused a “faulty pack” signal when I put it on the charger. I returned the set to amazon and they promptly mailed me a replacement set.
Just remember to pull out the charger and batteries try charging both of them before unpacking the rest of the set.

    Conclusion
Overall I am very pleased with this set. I highly recommend it for both Professionals and Home owners.
You can plan on spending about $40 to $80 on drill bits, Sawzall blades, screw driver bits, nut drivers, spade bits etc.
Note: Avoid driver bit sets labeled “Impact Ready”. The 1 inch bits go into the extender easy enough, but removing them requires brute strength and a pair of pliers. Stick with buying small sets of 2 inch philips, square, torques, and nut diver bits and combine them in a generic case. The 2 inchers are designed to fit in the impact driver without an extender.
