UPDATE – I was contacted by seller after several weeks & my purchase price refunded for this product, which I do appreciate. As a result I have bumped the rating up 1 star, not for the product, but because I did receive a refund.
I have been buying this product for quite some time & am very familiar with its appearance, texture & smell. This batch from this seller was ‘off’ – arrived sealed but with no lid & product had a very strong chemical odor, unlike previous purchases. I left the product out overnight but the odor was still very strong the next day. As I was uncomfortable giving to my dogs, I disposed of the product. I contacted the seller using Amazon’s contact inquiry, but received no response. I might try purchasing this product one more time, but will not buy it from this seller.

I bought these for my dog as he was always itching and scratching and these work great. He hardly scratches anymore and he feels a lot better. I took him to the vet and he gave him a shot called cytopoint for allergies and didn’t do anything and it was 175.00 and these work better. I would highly recommend these if your dog has allergies.

These are definitely a little on the expensive side but it’s worth it. Our dog is sick and has a hard time using the bathroom. They don’t have much smell, they’re good quality, he hasn’t had any side effects, and the ingredients look pretty good. He pretty much takes them daily and they really help him. They’re worth it we’ve bought a few now.

I always hate writing reviews for “wellness” products for pets. They can’t speak, so any pros or cons are strictly from my observation, and bias can play an overly HUGE role in how effective we believe a product to be. If my allergy-ridden dog stops itching, is it because of some expensive new therapy I’m using, or is it because her allergies just aren’t being triggered as much right now? Because we’re so desperate to provide our fur-babies with relief, we often try several things at once… so is it the medicine that’s working, or the baths? Is she really no longer itchy, or is she now going to another room to scratch herself silly because lately I’ve been watching her and making weird concerned-parent noises like some sort of freak whenever she has a scratching fit?

My dog is allergic to all of reality (no, really… I’ve had her tested, and two of the top allergens she responds to are human dander and mesquite trees… the only two things other than sand we have in the Southwest), and has been on Cytopoint for the last few years. It is the only therapy that *semi-reliably* relieves her itching. But as I have exhausted my options for local vets I trust, and my preferred online pharmacy no longer carries Cytopoint, I’m back to square one trying to find something that relieves my baby from chronic debilitating itchiness.
These chewables… it’s really hard to tell if they’re making a difference or not. Believe it or not that’s a compliment, as other products I’ve tried were apparent in their ineffectiveness, and in one case actually made things worse! (DO NOT USE PRODUCTS WITH TEA-TREE OIL FOR ATOPIC DERMATITIS!!!). She’s been eating these for a few weeks now, and her itching *seems* to have subsided? Not as itch-free as she would be with Cytopoint, but less so than with no treatment at all… maybe? Again, hard to tell; maybe this is our new normal (to which I would joyfully shout, “Yay!”), or maybe this coincided with a natural lull in allergens, and come Spring my poor baby will just explode from dermatitis.
I don’t see how the ingredients are really effective in treating allergies; seems more like they’re trying to promote skin health to cover the symptoms… kinda like buying extra boxes of tissue instead of a medicine like Benadryl or Zyrtec, if you will entertain the analogy. But at ten bucks for a month’s supply, it’s worth a try. Certainly cheaper than $75+ for monthly Cytopoint. And if nothing else, well… my girl seems to love them as an afternoon snack, so that’s good. If I can use these in combination with medicated baths and homemade food to keep her from chewing herself bloody, that’ll be great. We could live with that.
Will try and keep this updated as time goes on.
Update: Yeah, she’s been through two containers of these things, and her itchiness has only gotten worse with time. Maybe they help with dogs that have skin conditions from diets lacking in nutrients, but they don’t help with actual allergies.
