Unit is on the cheap side but has worked fine for occasional use. Need to flatten chicken breasts first with something as this unit will get stuck in a thick breast. Definitely makes a chicken breast way more tender.

I did a not so scientific test. One side with the hammer and one side with this device. Results will vary of course but for my test this device seemed to win. My guess the holes let salt and other additives work in the meat which I put on before and after tenderizing. I can’t say that is the best way but it worked for me.

The spring on the inside of the handle I feel is probably not going to hold up. If you are using this for commercial use or lots of cooking all the time I would purchase a more expensive brand. But for the amount of cooking that I do this will work out fine. The spikes are very sharp and went right through the meat clean and easy. The only thing is you need a fork to hold down the piece of meat because when you pull up the tenderizer the meat comes up with it. Other than that it works great for the amount of use that I’m going to need it for.

I use this to make holes in meat for the sauces to penetrate. It is esay to use, and I just put it in the dishwasher to clean. It has held up well for the past year. Getting two was nice but the first one has lasted so long that I have not even opened the box of the second one.
