I’m not an avid reviewer when it comes to providing feedback on products. I’ll keep it simple and short. I wanted to cover slow/dead spots in my 3k square foot house. I knew the At&t gateway wouldn’t cover when I switched from COX internet. The plan was to find a mesh system to work with all our devices, including our Ring Security system. I’ve done plenty of research and went with this choice. Between balancing cost along with functionality is why I picked it. I have At&t’s 1GB fiber internet, speeds test from the Orbi router to the gateway hit 950+ for both up and download speeds. Though I only have AC devices on the network, I can walk anywhere in the house and outside and hit speeds at or around 500+ Mbps. This helps provide coverage for the external wifi Ring cameras. I wanted coverage and this delivered. It was easy to set up, maybe took 20 mins to complete. I would definitely recommend the RBK753 if you have the money. I did research and wanted to future proof the house for WiFi 6 along with bandwidth consumption. I no longer hear the kids complain about playing Xbox anymore. So buy it if you have the money.
*** One show stopper maybe for some – no parental controls. You CAN pause devices but there isn’t functionality to build out schedules to lock down devices like the att or cox router/gateways has. Just remember this is all software. So eventually this could be an option.

Love my new Orbi Mesh system! I have 30+ connected devices in my home (Alexa, Ring, SmartThings. AppleTV, GoogleTV, etc) I cut recently cut cable service for streaming (YouTubeTV) and needed faster Wifi. I needed to replace an old Apple Airport Extreme system with 2 Airport express satellites. I originally bought Linksys Velop Mesh but was so unimpressed with setup and connection unrealibility that I returned them to try the Netgear Orbi. The Orbi setup was super easy and WiFi performance is 3-8x what I was getting in some areas of my home. My home is older, ~3,500 sq ft with very thick plaster walls, stone foundation and a brick fireplace in the center. I opted for model 753 (base router + 2 satellites) to get broader coverage. Good choice! I set up the base unit in the basement next to modem in center of house and placed satellites on first floor on either end of house (North and South). These collectively cover entire 2nd floor. I subscribe to 900Mbs internet service from Xfinity and get all of that on my wired devices and b/w 300-800Mbs over WiFi depending on my proximity to base unit or satellites. Best performance is next to base unit as expected. Range is great. I even get WiFi in my Shed now which is ~250ft from my house. I had planned to use wired ethernet backhaul to maximize performance as I already had the cables in place, but WiFi performance was so good, I found it better to move the satellites around for best WiFi coverage rather than where I had the cables. The units are not unattractive but are quite large. iOS app is clean and covers most needed features. I particularly like the feature of knowing which Satellite devices are connected to. Sometimes devices don’t initially connect to closest satellite but that seems to resolve itself over time (or with restart). Included speed test function on App seems to only show speed from router to ISP/test server (i.e., always ~900 Mbs) , not from end point devices, so I use 3rd party app instead to get more realistic results (300-400 Mbs). Web admin is available but not necessary for most users/setups. Have not yet needed technical support so can’t comment. I am current evaluating security features and so far am impressed with some of it’s findings and recommendations. I highly recommend!

I like you, read many, many reviews before I make a purchase, especially on a higher dollar purchase. Do yourself a favor and find Zekes review and read it. His review is what sold me and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. My house is around the 3150 sqft, 2 levels and this Orbi system is probably over kill since it says up to 7500 sqft coverage. I have the main router on the first floor in the office by the cable modem and 2 satellites on the second floor at opposite ends of the house. I pay for 600/26mbps cable internet and now am getting every bit of it and some! My old system was a tri-band Linksys system that was a few years old. I could barely get half of what I was paying for on a good day. I had a Linksys extender upstairs, we’d be lucky if we got 100mbps up there. What really annoyed me was the constant dropping of devices, switching from 5ghz to 2.4ghz to the extender. It was almost constant, smart TV would lose signal or buffer. It was ridiculous. I finally pulled the plug and bought this system which I feel is middle of the road for the Netgear Orbi mesh wifi 6 systems. I mean there is WiFi 6E out but I feel this is a great compromise and way cheaper than the latest greatest system that our devices aren’t even capable to take full advantage of.
You have to download the Netgear Orbi app on your smartphone to set it up. I felt it was straightforward and very easy to set up. You can change your new Orbi wifi name to your old name and password and your devices will connect automatically after set up. You have to set up a Netgear account and verify your email, typical stuff if you don’t already have an account.
I think the router and satellites look very nice, kind of contemporary looking. They come very well packaged in the box. They have a QR barcode on the bottom as well as plastic sleeves on the router and sattelites which you will need to scan during your initial setup.
The speed is amazing and no dropping of devices at all. I have had it for going on 3 weeks and continue to be impressed. The worst speed is in my living room which is about 50 feet from the main router. It’s all wireless so it is to be expected to not get the full advertised speed the further away from the router you go. Not complaining at all, it’s still over 500mbps. I have the other satellites in my bedroom and my son’s bedroom. When I check the speed up there I usually get 670 or higher, it blows my mind! Remember my old Linksys extender I barely got 100mbps. So major, major vast improvements all around. The most important to me was no dropping and switching to other channels constantly. Do yourself a favor and buy it! You won’t be disappointed.
If something changes I’ll update this review, hopefully not!!
