I’ve been using this thing for quite a while now and I’m loving it. It’s a bit fiddly setting a custom time routine but not that bad once you wrap your head around it. Very nice customizability and all the light phases are beautiful. I liked that this one had nice blue light for the evening. Kind of corny I know but I like that look and a lot of similar lights had no blue or an odd looking blue. The gradual on and gradual off at dawn and dusk are great. And it’s been going for months with no issues. I had some incidents with my plants and no longer have plants but this light was great for the plants while I had them. Plenty strong enough for plants. I think I dialed mine back a bit from 100% even if memory serves.

On top of an 18x18x24 terrarium. This is both the cheapest and best light I’ve tried after buying at least 10. It’s powerful for its size, doesn’t run hot, the white looks natural, it has a 24hr timer that saves your schedule at power loss, ramp timer for lighting changes, you can schedule 5 different lighting scenes per day, and it has combined RGB lights instead of those goofy indivual red, green, and blue LEDs that reflect off the top and make weird colored spots at the bottom.
Programming is a little awkward but simple once you get started and the remote makes it much less frustrating than other lights with awkward programming. You can hit the demo button after making your schedule to get a fast-forward preview of a day.
Just buy it if you’re considering it.

I purchased this light on the recommendation of my brother in law who has 4 of these on different types of tanks. My previous light which was in use for 5-6 years was the standard low quality type LED attached to the tank lid which came with the setup. I ran it from 10-12 hours/day; too long, I know. That encouraged algae growth but we wanted to see the fish. I did not want to spend much on a new light but after much consultation w/B.I.L. decided I needed to do better for my fish or stop the hobby.
This new light is really sturdy, straddles the tank top on top of the glass lid. Keep in mind you need to size it exactly before straddling the tank. I purchased a light that provided full length lighting rather than a shorter version. Yes, the different sizes can be straddled over a longer tank but only buying enough LED surface to light part of your tank won’t provide full tank illumination. I recommend getting a glass lid so light can shine through but be protected from water; you don’t want to take the chance of dunking the light because it’s a tenuous attachment if you’re not careful. Interesting fact: I’ve had a dramatic reduction of black algae in my freshwater aquarium since getting the new light. Also my live plants are growing well I’m sure that’s due to reducing the bright white light run time vs previous light. The cycle I have set up is 2 hr sunrise, 6 hour bright white, 3 hr sunset, 4 hr moonrise. The fish seem much calmer & are schooling with more natural behavior. The different lighting adjustments possible are a real bonus so you can set the lights to your own preferences. The timer works well so far with only 1 negative problem IMO; if there’s a power outage or even a quick hiccup in electrical flow, then entire light timing program I set up auto deletes and I have to reprogram. That’s annoying because I’m a tech failure & have to wrestle through the program. What’s worse, however, is if you’re out of town & whomever is watching your fish can’t figure out resetting the light cycle. The timer needs to be redesigned to overcome that problem. Other than the timer glitch I am very pleased with the build quality, the lighting option’s effect on my fish & beautiful visual effects.

This light really isn’t bad at all and the IR control can be used to control multiple lights at the same time by using a IR repeater.
You could also use any learning IR remote to make a spare more powerful remote.
So the bug I found is if you set the ramp time to 15 or 30 the end time ramps down the previous light phase and ramps up the current one from 0 which gives a nice transition from one phase to another, however if you stop the 24/7 cycle while it’s doing this it cancels the prior phase ramp down and just goes to the current phases ramp up. Not a huge deal but if you click the max button while it’s doing this it messes it up.
Maybe for version 3 they could make the module further from the light and maybe add a 3.5mm jack for a IR receiver extension so the module could be hidden behind the tank.
So it’s kind of like a finnex 24/7 but with a actual clock you can set.
The IR reciever/controller module is a bit too close the the light as others have mentioned.
