You get a lot for your money with this blender. Makes perfect green smoothies. I don’t really use the other food processor bowls and blades that come with the set, but it’s nice to know they’re there.
After reading other reviews, I always handle the blade by its top, and give it a spin to make sure the blade is centered on the spindle. The same sharpness that makes it dangerous makes it effective! It hasn’t cut me yet.
I was surprised at the quiet power the Ninja has, it is really remarkable. Best blender I’ve used. To me, it is better than a Vitamix. The motor-at-the-top arrangment is clever and logical. You pop in the blade, fill the pitcher, put on the lid, pop on the motor, and blend (quietly) away.
My brother had talked about the health benefits he’d seen from drinking green smoothies. I’d seen Fat Sick and Nearly Dead, and wanted to try a diet change. Bought a juicer and this blender to make hybrid smoothies. Your taste may tend toward Margaritas, and I completely understand, but these days I’m trying out the green smoothie way.
Here’s a typical morning smoothie:
For the liquid, you can use water, or fresh veggie juice. I use fresh veggie juice, perhaps to justify the purchase of my Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite 1000-Watt Juice Extractor- juice 3-4 large carrots and half a cucumber or zucchini. Sometimes if I have an extra apple or orange, or want a lime or ginger flavor, I juice those as well.
Pour the water/veggie juice into the Ninja, along with…
1 cored apple (not peeled), one peeled orange (keep the white skin, lose the outer orange), 1 1/2 cups of Kale or Spinach (fresh or frozen), 2-3 teaspoons Spirulina, 1 banana, some frozen pineapple, peach, berries, or mango, 1/4 avacado, protein powder (I combine Rice Protein with Vega Vanilla is best), and sometimes frozen shelled edamame (soy beans). I vary the recipe depending on what’s on hand, and rotate the kale and spinach.
The blender keeps all the fiber of the kale/spinach, apple, orange, and fruit… along with the nutrients from the juiced veggies. Hybrid.
The Breville juices fast, and cleans up fast. The Ninja blends it fast and well, and also cleans up fast.
Tip 1: Pulse and blend. Do both and it will thoroughly all ingredients. If you only blend, it won’t all mix.
Tip 2: For weekday speed, move prep time to Sunday afternoon. You can prepare a series of smoothies using frozen spinach/kale, frozen fruits, and add-in-powders. Store them in the freezer in individual freezer containers. On a weekday morning, just pour a Ziploc into the Ninja. Add the apple (cored) and orange (peeled) fresh. If you have time, juice the carrots and cucumber, and add the juice. If you don’t have time, add 2 cups of water.
Tip 3: Freeze you Bananas! – Buy/wait for peak freshness. Peel whole bunch. Cut, and lay separated segments on wax paper in the freezer for an hour. Store in a Ziploc.
Highly recommended blender.

We picked this blender because it was rated number one on consumer reports and it was pretty cheap compared to spending $300-$600 for a much higher end option. Basically we were skeptical, but figured for the price what did we have to lose?
First the motor is very powerful and really have no concerns about it’s ability to do just about anything. You do have to hold the button down while it is working, so there is no ability to turn it on and walk away for 2 minutes. However because of the multiple blades it tends to be faster than a normal blender so hasn’t been an issue.
Actually it is quite a benefit for the motor to be on the top for a couple reasons. First you cannot blow the lid off or even run it without the lid on so you will never spray the contents of the blender onto the ceiling. Because the the push button design you tend to have a decent hold on it so it also won’t disconnect or become unstable when running.
The other benefit is that the containers do not have any holes in the bottom or any way for liquid to leak out of the bottom – gravity tends to try and make that happen. So they are super easy to clean – take out the blades and pop in the dishwasher. Not screwing the bottom on or off, no gasket or blade assembly etc etc…
Amazingly this is also a great set – it has 1 large, 1 medium, and 2 small containers. There are enough lids for all of them at once, plus a large and small lid for the motor plus the motor of course.
There are a few downsides which could be fixed with future version or just take some getting used to. First the containers are plastic. That isn’t too much of a problem for most tasks, but I didn’t quite feel comfortable putting 200 degree tomato soup in there to puree.
Another design problem is the handles are hollow and some water and stuff gets in there from the dishwasher and it seems impossible to really clean out. Another dishwasher problem is the bottom of the containers is very concave and the large one probably holds a cup of water when upside down. They are also not stackable which is a slight pain for storage. I wouldn;t be surprised if they fixed these issues in future versions though.
The last issue that really could not be fixed and is inherent to the design is that since the blades are in the middle you kind of have to pour or drop in our ingredients around the blades and shaft in the middle of the container. This actually makes it a bit tricky to even get the ingredients in sometimes. We make a lot of shakes with frozen fruit so you spend a bit of time dropping things down the sides. Also since the motor is on the top, to add ingredients you have to remove the motor and lid to put anything else in.
Overall it basically works better than a regular blender, solves some of the problems with normal blenders, comes with multiple size containers which is very useful but has a few quirks to get used to. We bought it figuring it was worth a shot and have to say we have really started to love it.

I was so looking forward to using this machine but it only lasted 5 seconds before it started smoking! Turns out that it won’t work in the UK because it is rated for the USA. Why sell it in the UK?

I like this blender or chopper, works great! This is the second one I bough, my first one quit after at least five years if not more. Great!

I am absolutely thrilled with my Ninja Master Prep Professional! This powerhouse of a kitchen appliance has revolutionized my cooking experience. From chopping and food processing to blending, it handles every task effortlessly.
The patented Ninja Blade Technology is truly remarkable, effortlessly crushing ice into snow in seconds and transforming frozen fruits into creamy smoothies with ease. Whether I’m mincing, dicing, chopping, blending, or pureeing, this machine delivers consistent and perfect results every time.
What I love most is the convenience of the interchangeable and ergonomic 450-watt power pod, which seamlessly switches between the 16-oz chopper bowl, 40 oz processor bowl, or 48-ounce pitcher, offering unparalleled versatility in the kitchen. The large chrome pulsing button ensures ultimate control and precise results, while the wide, no-slip bases and splashguards keep everything steady and clean.
Cleanup is a breeze with the dishwasher-safe removable parts, and the included storage lids are a thoughtful addition to keep food fresh.
In summary, the Ninja Master Prep Professional has exceeded all my expectations, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and versatile kitchen companion. It’s a game-changer!
