For those that love to cook or cook enough to just get by this mandolin is an excellent addition to every kitchen. It makes prep work so quick and easy and no more trips to the hospital for finger amputations. It is safe and easy to use even though the instructions aren’t the greatest. Clean up is easy and folds down to store. The reason i’m giving it 4 star instead of 5 is because of the fact that once the blade dulls it can’t be changed/replaced but hopefully it will last a while.

What I liked, it did work well, as per slide mechanism.
It did slice as per instructions.
Dislike first could not easily remove from box, would it have really cost that much more to add 2 cm.
Have to move slide rather quickly or slices won’t come out uniform, not for looks but for pickling.
I sliced off part of my finger, through the nail. No wasn’t using the pusher, was trying to dislodge vegetable pieces. Blade is very sharp.
Cannot get slicer to go back in box, to store. I like the demo on side of box, so I wanted to store all together, just won’t fit. Could it cost that much to make box 2 cm larger??
Overall did work well for intended use. Just mind the blade.

I like kitchen gadgets, and I’m an avid backyard gardener. Each year I have loads of hot peppers that I can or dry. Because of the pain and tears of chopping peppers by hand, even with gloves on, I was using the food processor slicer to make my canned peppers, but they are prettier if you make little disks, rather than haphazard slices. A family member turned me on to this gadget. It is amazing. It makes perfect slices. On the peppers, I found that it’s important to fill the slot full (e.g. with 6-8 serranos or jalapeños) so they are tightly packed. That way the chopper keeps the disks round all the way down with very few odd sized slices. It was fast and easy. I gave away my other mandolin slicer after buying this. I appreciate that I don’t have to worry about slicing my hand.

This is by far the best mandolin we have used. The directions are easy to understand, it is simple to use, clean, and a variety of cuts. I would definitely recommend this. Product well made and safe to use.

Bought this mostly to make super thin slices for Fennel bulb (salad) and onions. Does an excellent job, is easy to use, and folds up flat so it doesn’t take up a huge amount of storage. It will dice as well, but I’m pretty good at chopping, so unless it was for a very large amount of chopping, it isn’t worth the time to take out, setup, and clean for those kind of small jobs. But for thin slicing it’s fantastic. Cleaning is not as troublesome as I thought, and it is very nicely engineered to come apart easily, and allow cleaning access to all areas. Very happy with it.

I don’t have anything to say that hasn’t been said in other reviews, but wanted to add my voice to the chorus, because this is a REALLY good product. It is well-thought out & engineered. I have carpal tunnel and arthritis, so I needed something that would really make chopping veggies easy. I’ve tried a lot of tools for that purpose; this one is the best.
VERSATILITY: It makes slices and strips/fingers/julienne from very thin to about 1/3-inch. To dice, you’ll need to run it through again, which is easy to do.
CONSTRUCTION: It’s sturdy and easy to put together, take apart, use. It collapses for storage. It’s easy to clean.
SAFETY: It’s pretty much impossible to cut yourself while using it (I suppose if you really try, you could cut yourself while cleaning it, after it’s taken apart, but a minimal level of care will prevent even that).
CLEANING: Taking it apart for cleaning (removing the slicer assembly from the frame) is very easy. I think there’s a version that doesn’t come apart, but I’d definitely recommend spending the extra few bucks to make sure you get the take-apart model. Cleaning is easier than any other chopper I’ve used – and **infinitely** easier than my top name-brand $300 food-processor-with-dicing-attachment. You may need to pry a few pieces of chopped veggie out of a crevice, but the inconvenience is minimal. In theory, it can go in the dishwasher, but I’m afraid that could warp the blade, and doing it by hand is easy enough that I don’t need the dishwasher. I *hate* cleaning kitchen utensils, but this really is a breeze, as long as you don’t wait until the chopped stuff has dried on it. If you do, it’ll take more elbow grease, but still doable with the included brush and a pair of tweezers.

I have always enjoyed chopping onions, potatoes, squash, zucchini…whatever. One day I came across this while perusing the kitchen tools. It looked so effortless and quick to slice anything, I thought ok, I’ll bite. Holy cow!! I used it for the first time yesterday, and it was so quick and easy, I just about couldn’t stop at three onions!! I REALLY wanted to slice the entire bag! And NO TEARS!! That was worth the price!! I love the speed with which you can slice!! I have a Kitchen Aid food processor, but it’s just such a pain to drag out of the cabinet, and it has so many moving parts it a pain!! This thing is a breeze to clean and put away! I can’t wait to use it again!! So glad I gave this a chance! I LOVE it!

I am impressed! So far I have only used the mandolin once, but it worked wonderfully. This is the first mandolin that I’m not afraid of cutting myself on. It was easy to set up, folds down nicely for storage, comes with a cleaning brush/pick, and slices easily….I mean, look at how thin the ilred onion is in the picture!!
Safe enough that I would consider letting my 8 year old use it (supervised, of course) when he helps me in the kitchen.
