We have a pea gravel patio in the back yard with a fire pit and picnic table. Despite having used landscape fabric under the gravel, for the past few years weed grass would grow in the gravel. No matter how often we would pull it or try to use a scuffle hoe, it would grow back. Tried horticultural vinegar and salt/soap mixture twice, the grass laughed it off and came back. Tried torching it with propane, came back again. Finally identified the grass as nutsedge using iPhone camera, and realized it was rhizome/root-based. This product is the first I had tried after realizing what the grass was. It took a few days for the grass to really start browning. But after 2 weeks, the nutsedge has remained DEAD. I have one more canister ready to use if it ever tries to come back. This is in central Texas. I’ve got a bit in my lawn but haven’t tried spraying into the st Augustine. Mainly wanted to clear the gravel patio.
I like that it is easy to use with a garden hose. The spray is kinda random but usable. I used gloves and safety goggles.

I tried multiple multi-use weed killers and nothing would touch the nuts Edge grass. This is very effective for treating it. I’ll admit that sometimes I have to go back a time or two because it’s really hard to kill the roots but this is as effective of a solution as I have ever found.

This is the only product I have found effective on Nutsage. Easy to apply and it works. Sometimes needs more than one application a few weeks later. One star off because it’s expensive and doesn’t come in a concentrate you can mix yourself

It really works! I had a big problem with nutsedge in my lawn, and within just a few days of using it, those pesky weeds started to disappear. My lawn looks so much better now. Plus, it’s incredibly easy to use. You just attach the bottle to your garden hose and spray—no mixing or mess. In just a few minutes, I was able to cover my entire lawn.

Another thing I was worried about was damaging my grass, but this product only targets the weeds. My Kentucky bluegrass is still looking green and healthy, which is a huge relief. And if you’re concerned about the weather, it’s rainproof after just two hours, so you don’t have to stress about rain ruining your efforts.

Overall, I’m really impressed. It’s effective, easy to use, and doesn’t harm my lawn. If you’re dealing with nutsedge or other tough weeds, I highly recommend giving it a try.

    Pros:

    • Really effective on nutsedge
    • Super easy to apply
    • Safe for the lawn when used correctly
    • Rainproof in a couple of hours

    Cons:

    • You need to be careful not to overuse it

I should have stopped and returned this (as well as complained) when my package arrived. The box was a little bit wet… When I opened it, I realized it was the product leaking through the bag and box and onto my kitchen table. That was disaster number one.

I am experienced in terms of working with these types of hose connected sprays. With that being said, when I flipped the container to the on position, the spray seemed to not be right… It didn’t spray in a uniform pattern the way I’ve seen other products, it was more like holding your thumb over a garden hose. I walked at a moderate pace, doing my best to evenly distributing the product throughout my yard. At that point I was too far in.

It’s been four days… Half of my lawn is dead/dying. Being a guy who takes tremendous pride in his yard, this is embarrassing. I was intending on spraying a thin blanket layer to knock back the nutsedge and wild violet in my yard, instead it looks like I sprayed poison all over the place. I have a northern lawn that consists of an equal mix of bluegrass, fescue and perennial rye. It’s not just the tall fescue like some people report, it’s wide spread to anywhere the chemical went down too heavily.

On a good note, the nutsedge and wild violet both look sick. On a really bad note, the grass does as well. Given the fact that this is a class 14 herbicide (it soaks into the roots as well) I am at a stalemate. I can try and rinse this chemical below the root zone, but the watering might spread and encourage my roots to take up more sulfentrazone (the active ingredient).

I guess I just have to spend the next month or more with a yard that looks awful. At this point I’m hoping this application won’t impact overseeding in the fall. I wasn’t planning on overseeding because my lawn was so healthy and full. Thanks to “Nutsedge Killer” oversseding is an added expense I’ve inherited.

Every spring, it seems like I had more and more fluorescent green patches of Nutsedge in my fescue lawn. After applying this product, the Nutsedge was killed within one week. He did such a great job, however, I ended up with spots in my lawn needed receding. The receding operation hasn’t gone as well as I was hoping but I don’t believe that has anything to do with this chemical.

Bought this with the expectation that it would take a couple of weeks to see any difference. Boy was I wrong. The nutsedge has turned yellow-brown already.

    Very satisfied with this product.

I did get some of it on regular grass and it has turned brown too but hoping this is temporary and the grass will grow back aoon.

    Thanks Ortho.

It completely eliminated the Nimblewill from my TTTF lawn without harming the tall fescue. I had heard it damages TTTF but that must be only certain varieties, or maybe people used too much of it. I plan to try it out on Poa Annua this spring to see if it has any effect. I would have given it 5 stars instead of 3, but its a hassle that it only comes in a hose-end spray bottle, I’d much prefer to mix it myself and use it from a pump spray so there would be much less overspray and waste… but maybe they want you to use a lot of it.
