Many decades ago when zinc batteries were the norm, battery leakage was also the norm. I had so many flashlights, radios, and other electronic devices damaged or destroyed by leaking batteries. So frustrating.

When alkaline batteries were first introduced, the biggest improvement was no more leaking. I quickly made the switch to alkaline batteries and enjoyed decades of leak free use.

Then something changed. Eveready Energizer batteries started featuring a little green pine tree on the side of the battery (supposedly for a more enviromentally friendly battery). Well, these new batteries started leaking. And now I am going through more batteries, due to shorter lifespan, as well as having to throw away battery powered devices due to leak damage. Not so enviromentally friendly after all.

In short order, all alkaline batteries started having the same leak problem. I tried everything I could find. They all leaked. I purchased a Princeton Tec headlamp. The Duracell batteries had leaked right in the blister pack. Duracell batteries claim leak free. They leak. They leak a lot.

I have purchased Costco Kirkland batteries, Ray-o-Vac, and Duracell batteries by the box. All leaked, without use, in the box, well short of the expiration date. Always stored cool and dry.

For devices that sit a lot, like flashlights and camera flash units, I have mostly switched to Energizer Lithium. I have even purchased 4AA to D adapters, so I can use AA lithiums in my Maglite flashlights. In decades of use I have had only 1 AA lithium leak failure.

A couple of years ago I gave Panasonic Batteries a try. So far, no leaks in the box or any devices.

I also have one flashlight with 6 year old Energizer Max C batteries without a leak.

Overall, D an C batteries have been more reliable. AA and AAA have been very prone to leakage.

If battery leakage has been an issue for you, give Panasonic Alkaline and Energizer Max batteries a try. The rest are leaky garbage.

Replaced two year old Duracells after finding my label maker quit working. The Duracells still had 1.45 volts, but one started leaking and almost destroyed my appliance. Iโ€™m switching all the batteries in expensive electronics and things that sit for more than year with Panasonic batteries. Iโ€™ve lost several flashlights, lanterns, electronic toys, and controllers due to leaking batteries.

This particular Panasonic AAA, if you read the description on their web site, goes into how theyโ€™ve put in a special layer of some zinc compound or metal, plus a way to allow gases to escape, rather than forcing the liquid out and leaking. I take this to mean that they will never destroy my electronics even if I leave them and forget about them for 5 years. The other famous brand has basically resulted in a 100% destruction rate and Iโ€™ve had enough of that. I will report back again in a few years with (hopefully) a positive update.

These batteries are on par with energizers or duracell. Maybe even a hair better.

I have batteries for sometime and use them without leakage issue. Stay far away Duracell batteries because they are super leakage damaging few of my expensive Maglite flashlights.

I’ve used Panasonic batteries before but First time using the platinum, I’m a loyal Energizer user for years but decided to give these a try and honestly there pretty good as much as the Energizer if not better using them on heavy draining Hobby’s and there working great.

Panasonic’s parent company has been making batteries for a long time. Because they don’t have shelf space in the local supermarket and ad space on television, the public isn’t aware they exist. This is too bad, as their chemistry and build makes them excellent batteries that I’ve never seen leak. This is a quality product that has never let me down.
