My parakeet loves this swing. It is small so definitely only good for parakeet or finches
Jaymo –
This is a great little swing… just right for a small canary cage or parakeet’s cage. The hook it came with was not need in our cage as the cage has its own hook hanging from the center and the swing is bent at the top where it fit perfectly and swings perfectly and our precious little bird just Loves it!
Who cares about the color our bird does not – and most animals do not see in color anyway!

The media could not be loaded.
I was not impressed by the looks of this plain Jane swing, but we had just taken in an abused & neglected Lovebird – our smallest bird ever – so we needed all new supplies in βBaby Birdβ size. Because we did not yet know her preferences as far as favorite toy types, and we were buying all new everything in a wide variety we decided to save a little on the swing, plus her nails were a bit long. She had before us been abused, and neglected by new parrot owners who did not understand hormonal parrots behavior (even though she has been laying eggs) for what it is, & to just be patient with her. Hormonal changes eventually reverse themselves, itβs just a matter of time. In the meantime you just have to continue on like all is normal, and never get angry at them for something they can not control.
Anyways -we wanted to make sure she had everything she needs from mineral blocks, various forms of calcium (to prevent egg binding she actually needs even more than normal while producing eggs) different types of shred-ables, and destroy-ables, plus bells to beat around when her temper gets up, getting her switched over to Harrisonβs Super Fine, etc.
We werenβt even sure she would play on a swing right away because she had been forced into being a bite everything nasty little thing with no sense of security. Poor Baby had taken to stamping back and forth across the bottom of the cage, and trying to bite anything that came near the bars, and slamming her dishes up and down. We have actually lovingly nicknamed her βEvil, The Baby Birdβ so she knows we are thoroughly impressed by her big displays! Lol!
However it is amazing how quickly animals can actually get over abuse! (Now if only her over shortened flight feathers would)
She loves the swing so much she preens herself on it, hangs out on it, naps on it, same as any colorful swing. Plus the swing has been one of the best things for her nails because the swing moves while sheβs on it, and the movement of the swing wears down those nails a little bit on the long skinny sharp parts each time she used it from the natural friction created by her hanging on. She also has sanded swings, calcium swings, etc that also help, but I think the swing gets singularly the most use.
Itβs been a couple weeks, and her nails look great! I am actually going to order a couple more of these, and send them with her when she leaves. (No worries- when sheβs ready she already has a wonderful home with close family friends).
We are going to include a video so you can see how 1 puffed out (she isnβt exactly trusting of the camera being pointed at her) Lovebird fits on the swing.
Definitely Lovebird, Parrotlet, Finch, Canary, and Parakeet sized. A Cockatiel wouldnβt be able to sit up straight on the swing, but may enjoy it as a 2nd, or 3rd swing.
We DO recommend this swing for the smaller birds, for mental stimulation, & nail maintenance.
We also hope our review is helpful to you!
Amazon Customer –
So far my budgie hasn’t been able to destroy this swing (like she did her last one)! She seems to enjoy trying, but after several months it’s still going strong. Good little inexpensive swing.
Fiona –
Bird will not use the swing
Debra Tydd –
A little smaller than expected, but still fits one budgie, not my birds favourite since they like a bit more space around them but they still enjoy sleeping on it at night!
PatrishaVenegas –
Every time my bird tried to use it, it spun wildly & she couldn’t keep her balance. Had to replace with one that hangs from 2 bars instead of 1 loop
Bridget –
The product is fine but I canβt get the damn bird to use it . Heβs a selfish little dude but it was like two dollars or something so whatever at least itβs a decoration. Also a little small for anything bigger than a parakeet or a canary . Just letting ya know.
Melissa –
Nice little budgie perch with the rough surface that helps your birdieβs feet. Good value. More mobile than double-hung perches (this has a single clip).
TheBowdens –
I wanted a basic swing for my parakeets & this was perfect! Not too big or bulky & itβs safe. Read a lot of other reviews on diff swings before purchasing this one & it hasnβt disappointed. Birds have not gone on that much but also havenβt had that long so they need some getting use to.
Rick B –
Itβs so simple and looks like itβs flimsy but my birds like it so much. If they like it, I like it. Theyβve had it for a couple months now and I need to buy a new one cause theyβve worn it out. Definitely will recommend and repurchase
Debra Tydd –
βFalsely advertised as cement swing. In actuality it is a wooden swing coated with some type of grit. It lasted less than 2 days.β – some nice Amazon reviewer guy
Sadly I saw this review after I purchased my swing, which is totally correct!! This is NOT cement!! It is a plain wooden dowel coated in something (a tiny layer of sprayed cement???) then covered in crushed seashells. Overall quality is okay, but I was placing this in my outside small balcony cage used for my best buddy to get sunlight on his feathers when we hang out together out there. Since it will be exposed to the elements at all times I needed it to be actual cement and stainless steel only. Penn Plax why you lie??? π

I’ve bought this same perch several times over the years for my parrotlet, replacing them as they wear and age. This is a fine perch, but the one I received was bright yellow and not blue as pictured, although all of the ones I’ve bought in the past have been blue. Small issue, I know, but my parrotlet won’t go near the yellow one, as it’s not what he’s used to. If the item has changed and the product color is now yellow, the photo should be updated. And if this now comes in various colors with no guarantee of what color you’ll get, this should also be stated for the buyer’s information. This is a good product, and for that reason I’m rating it in the middle and not giving it a bad review, but if you’re expecting one that’s blue, you — and your bird — may be disappointed.
