    Perry Ellis Aqua Extreme
It’s a nice enough scent. WAY more bold than I expected for an aqua fragrance. It’s a dark aquatic – if it’s an aquatic at all, if that makes sense. I have, I don’t know, probably 15 aquatic frags – this is the deepest and darkest – almost misses the aqua part all together. It’s nice! It’s just not what I was expecting.

Initial opening – I’m hit with big spiciness and big tobacco. Deep, robust, SWEET tobacco. That – I think – is what’s throwing me off. Usually, with all of my aquas, at least, initial opening is a blast of bergamot or grapefruit or whatever – citrus comes in hot and it won’t be ignored. Not so, with this scent. It’s spice and tobacco and within seconds, the tobacco overtakes the spice and it feels like a really warm frag that’s suited for fall and winter. Then as the spray dries a bit – I get a mild buzz of the dark aquatics – it’s definitely not the main character in the beginning, middle or drydown. It’s almost an afterthought. Again – this is a nice frag – I was just expecting an aquatic to have more aquatic tones. Once drydown occurs – I’m still left with that bold sweet tobacco – the spice is still front and center but a few steps behind the tobacco – the too subtle aquatics are gone – I’m getting some lavender and herbs – and wood. Not sure which – it’s more of a generic wood profile but it’s there.

Ultimately, I’m not yet done trying to determine exactly what kind of fragrance this is and – it’s gone. It has vanished. If you bring your wrist to your nose, you can still get the tobacco and spice and lavender – but it’s a skin scent. I’m talking within 40 minutes. You’re going to need all of this jumbo bottle to maintain the scent’s presence on you, going forward. I did some testing – sprayed it on paper, sprayed it on tissue and sprayed it on cardboard. Multiple hits. The paper held it the most but after 15 minutes – I literally had to hold it up to my nose to detect it. Aquatics and freshies are known for lacking in staying power but this is a surprisingly fleeting fragrance.

I sprayed it into both of the fans in my room. The room was filled with sweet tobacco and spice – it’s nicer than plain scent less room, for sure. I went and brushed my teeth, washed my face, got ready for a nap and came back to my room 20 mins later at most – and it’s nearly gone. I’m getting a hint of sweet tobacco but that’s all. Kind of amazing that 10 sprays into fans in a small enclosed room couldn’t stick around.

I’m still rating it 4 stars. It’s a decent scent – tho I couldn’t classify it as an aquatic – since that feature isn’t pronounced and is the first to disappear. It’s appropriate for work if you’re modest about application (remember the tobacco and spice is bold). It’s appropriate for casual activities and even a date because it smells mature and sophisticated – but not sexy or sensual. Myself, I would *not* wear this in warmer weather – the sweet tobacco would be too much – even if just for a short while – but that’s a personal preference. I solidly recommend it for a basic frag that comes in a considerable amount. Just keep some in a travel atomizer so you can reapply – often. Maybe experiment with spraying on your clothes and hair, as well – that may help ti to stick around longer.

TLDR: this doesn’t read aquatic to me at all. SWEET tobacco is the most prevalent note.
Longevity is non existent. It’s gone in 40 minutes *if* it makes it that far.
It’s an appealing frag – just different than what I expected. I still recommend it to those who want a warmer, heavier, spicy tobacco scent that quickly dries down to a skin scent.
The bottle is gorgeous and will look good on your cologne display or dresser or wherever.
I personally wouldn’t buy it again because I love aquatics and greens and this doesn’t present as either – but it IS a lovely fragrance that will smell much more appealing than no fragrance.
It is a very masculine scent. For the women who wear mens scents (yes – gendered fragrances are being experimented with in the fragrance community and I love it) – it’s unapologetically masculine with no wiggle room. Choose wisely.

    I Recommend it.

  4. Great Smell!

I got this on sale for $31 and it’s a great smell! Not to mention the bottle is about twice as big as most colognes I’ve gotten recently. I’ll definitely be using this one as my main cologne for a while

Perry Ellis is a well know fragrance which I love (fresh & clean) and at this price you cannot ignore the deal! I bought one for my son and one for myself! This is an intense version so if I love it even more I’ll buy another before the price jumps up!! Update I did just that and purchased a backup bottle!

It smells great and can’t beat $30 price for 6.8 oz bottle. I use this daily at work.

It’s a great smelling cologne but it needs more oil base because the scent doesn’t last long enough. That’s really the only down side.
