Generally all cat toys are hit and miss, depending on the individual cat. My cat is terrible at entertaining himself and isn’t bothered by motor noises, and so any motorized toy I can turn on and keep him occupied is a win. Otherwise, it’s me he’s clawing at when he’s hyper. While he isn’t so much about actively playing with the PetSafe Cheese, he definitely likes it a lot. It keeps him mesmerized, and runs to stare at it when I turn it on. The perfect “cat TV.”

But more importantly, unlike other motorized cat toys I’ve tried, this one seems well-made. It appears rather durable, comparatively. The moving mice are slick plastic and shaped in a way that’s not easy for them to hold onto. It means they’re not really able to hold on and burn out the motor, which is not true of many motorized cat toys. He’s destroyed other motorized toys like Hot Pursuit in a week by sitting on the wand while the motor struggled to keep going.

All cat toys tend to eat through batteries, so invest in rechargeables. But another great feature of the cheese is that the door to its battery compartment does not have a screw. A ridiculous amount of cat toys that require batteries have doors that are held in with a screw, which makes it a chore to change the batteries all the time.

Lastly, I love the feature that the toy has a mode that it will turn itself on for fifteen minutes every two hours over the course of six hours. It’s a feature all of these toys should have.

Excelente funcionamiento y durabilidad. Únicamente me hubiera gustado que la base fuera más amplia. Mis gatos a menudo suelen voltearlo de costado.

This device is somewhat noisy, and more than one person has asked me why the cheese is white and mice are yellow instead of the other way around, but the cats do come to investigate when I turn it on. They don’t so much play with it as stare at it and carefully “probe” the mice with a cautious paw, but hey it has their attention, so they’re getting something out of it. It remains in use.

There’s a setting where it will come on 3 different times (you can set it and leave the house, and it will “entertain” your cats periodically).

It’s a bit noisy. Not as much as you’d expect, but you can definitely hear it when it’s on.

My cat is entertained by this toy, he tries to get the mice as they stick their head out. It’s fun to watch. There is a timer of sort but when it goes off he walks away and it will come back on when he’s not there. I would rather have a motion senor instead. That way it would stay on as long as he’s playing with it. He will stand by it sometimes and meow for me to turn it on or other times I’ll catch him staring at it like he waiting for them to come out.
All in all it’s worth it.

Warning-toy presents risk of eye injury!
My cat wound up with a scratched cornea in her right eye from this toy.
When the mouse is retracted the cat will place its eye against the hole to look in & thats
when the danger happens as the mouse shoots out striking the cat in the eye unexpectedly.
Buy & use at your own risk.

I got this because of the ability to have it turn on and off at intervals. It look more sophisticated than it is. There are 2 pointed “mice” that seesaw back and forth out of a single opening on each side. My cats were quickly bored, as this was too predictable. I really thought there was more variety in the “pop-up” action. It takes 3 AA batteries which run down quickly (definitely use rechargeables). The battery section does open with a clip rather than a screw, so that’s convenient. I gave it three stars because it’s well-made, even if a lot dorky.

My cats LOVED this toy. I had to keep turning it on after each cycle because they wanted to keep playing with it. It kept running even when it got tipped on its side. Kept their interest over an hour at one point. So cute watching them. Well worth the money.

Meine Katzen waren leider garnicht an dem Spielzeug interessiert. Die Maus kam zu langsam raus. Dadurch dass es nur 2 Löcher gibt aus denen die Maus raus kommt, wurde der Jagdtrieb nicht animiert .
