As someone who gets analysis paralysis, it’s difficult for me to decide sometimes when I feel I’m making a decent investment, and parting with my hard earned dollars. I was looking for something that could do everything I needed and them some, without robbing the bank, and here I am writing the review.
Pros: Value – it’s under $100, has 21 pieces, and fits comfortably in a nice, but hard shell case. Battery – lasts up to 6 hours which is great because I don’t want it plug it in every time after I trim. Not to mention as batteries age, they lose capacity to hold a charge. So if something can only last 45 minutes now, imagine in a few years when it’s a race to beat the clock while trimming. Quality – stainless steel body, comfortable to hold. Norelco (Philips) is a brand name and has been around for a long time, and they wouldn’t be if they produced crappy products. This thing is built to last. Allegedly, it’s maintenance free, but I still clean it as I go to prolong it’s life.
Cons: Charger – the proprietary cable is crazy nowadays. With everything switching to USB-C, just join us in the 21st century. Also there is a cable but no power brick, aka the thing the plugs into the wall outlet, and it will need to be a USB A compatible to charge this trimmer. The Manual – it’s as large as classroom map on the wall. It’s a little over kill. Storage – while I applaud the use of the rugged case and not a pouch, the plastic guards are just tossed in a mesh pouch in the case, makes finding the specific one you’re looking for a pain sometimes, although the guards are marked and easy to read. I’m really just nit picking at this point. Travel lock – didn’t see that it had one so will be interesting to see how it does traveling. The case should prevent accidental engaging but anythings possible I suppose. No Stand – at almost $100 you’d think they could add a stand for it to sit. It does stand on its own and looks sturdy but if I’m shelling out $100, I would like to have it displayed nicely on my bathroom counter in all it’s glory.
Final thoughts: If you want options, a quality build, something you don’t have to worry about charging frequently or storing it safely, and not breaking the bank, then this is for you. If you don’t care about a trimmer, or it doesn’t matter much then I wouldn’t spend $100 on it. As for me, I wanted to put my money into something I’ll have for the next decade at least, and it looks like I made a smart investment.

No me gusto que no trae el Extra-wide hair trimmer ni el steel precision trimmer, al no traer este no puedes usar los cortadores para cabello porque no quedan sujetos por el cabezal de la maquina ya que son muy grandes, por lo que tendrรกs que conseguirlo aparte entonces pierdes funcionalidades, yo optaria por comprar otra con menos piezas pero que en verdad venga completa. Ahora hay que buscar donde conseguir el cortador mas amplio, quiza pida devolucion.

This rides to do everything but unfortunately doesnโt do any of the, very well. I mainly purchased this for beard trimming but the beard attachments are very limited in length options and they are too narrow so it takes an age to get even trim. The hair attachments work much better but unfortunately they do not have enough options with this attachment as the 4 is the only one short enough to useโฆthere are so many attachments you end up spending ages swapping and changing ing bits everywhere and itโs a hassle packing them all away againโฆ.added to this that you have to add on different blades before you add on the attachments and often the blades stick on when you try and take it off. Iโm amazed at the reviews hereโฆa very poor beard trimmerโฆ.due to silly attachments.

I was using a collection of three other pretty good clippers/razors for a short beard. I had a routine that was working, but went browsing on Amazon. This particular Philips razor and accessory set really popped with good reviews, complete tools, and case. I decided to give it a try.
WOW. Small but hefty, quiet, quick-charging, long-running, effective motor, ever sharp blades and excellent tools. The cut is clean in one pass, the feeling and the resulting look are precise. A terrific upgrade that is fast to use, and inspires confidence to get the beard just right. Almost fun.
An unexpected HIT is the precision screen razor for trimming around lips. The mouth can be difficult to do well, but this tool is terrfic. Youโll see. The finely adjustable clipper guards are compact, feel great and work well. Pleased, pleased, pleased.
This particular set had the highest rating among Philips machines, which have a deserved following.
I wear my beard short, and have no experience with long beards, but expect most people will be delighted.
