PIONEER BDR-2212 Internal BD/DVD/CD Writer Description
- SUPPORTED WITH M-DISC: compatible with M-Disc, a special disc that is treated with a super hard coat to prevent scatches and resist fingerprints for long-term data protection
- SMOOTH MOVIE PLAYBACK: PowerRead feature enables the drive to bypass obstructed areas of a disc and attempt to move forward quickly to the next available data point, resulting in smoother playback
- A SMARTER DRIVE: Enabled with Auto Quiet mode, the drive monitors and adjusts accordingly to high speed for fast data transfer and low speed for stable music/movie playback
- LONGER PRODUCT LIFE WITH IMPROVED DRIVE SOFTWARE: high-dustproof hardware and improved drive software reduces disc reading deterioration issues due to dust or cigarette smoke and prolongs the life of the optical disc drive about twice that of other conventional models
- POWER READ: Scratches, fingerprints and other abnormalities on the surface of a disc can sometimes cause Blu-ray and DVD movie playback to stop. When a PowerRead enabled drive is not able to read through obstructed areas of a disc, it will attempt to move forward quickly to the next available data point, resulting in smoother Blu-ray and DVD movie playback.

Its a sturdy piece of equipment and performs really well. A bit expensive but worth it so far
Ryan Dahari –
The drive arrived on time and it works very well!

I archive to M-Disc Blu-ray and DVD discs and had to replace an old Blu-ray burner that was wearing out. I first bought the Asus BW-16D1HT/BLK/G/AS burner but out of four discs I tried to burn only one burned successfully. So I figured I try my luck with the Pioneer Electronics BDR-2212 and have had no coasters (yet). It was a little more pricey than the Asus but at least this works reliably for Blu-ray M-Discs.

First one I bought turned out to be only a Player! I was kind of pissed off and couldn’t return it. This one is what I needed. Seems to work. Easy to install. Seller was quick and easy to deal with. So far so good. Cyberlink Software is Consumer Grade, and not very useful. Won’t let you burn discs or Import 4K until you pay for Full Version.

This is an excellent product. I purchased two units to replace two Pioneer BDR-2200 units that I have been using in my PC for the past 7 years, not because there was anything wrong with them, but just to retire them and install new Pioneer brand equipment. The quality of the video and audio reproduction is optimal. With the right combination of video editing programs, one can even create high quality 4K dvds effortlessly.

I’ve replaced older DVD players with this BDXL blueray burner to enable my home computers to read/play/ and create nearly every optical format that exists. Its a universal reader/player/ burner. If you have read errors from your optical drive, get this one.

I installed this Pioneer BDR-2212 in external housing NexStar DX NST-536S3-BK USB 3.0 enclosure. It works great. I haven’t tested speeds or anything like that, but most of the time I set something to burn and do something else in the meantime so that’s not all that critical for me. Rough estimate is it burned a full Blu-Ray M single layer disk in about 25 minutes over USB 3.0 in the housing I mentioned above.

Last week I upgraded our HTPC from 2013. It’s now running Linux Kubuntu 18.04 LTS and Windows 7 in a Virtual box with a Ryzen 5 1600 CPU. Great for watching Blu-Ray movies and DVD TV shows. The case is a Silverstone MILO 3B circa 2013. I like being able to use as much of the old hardware as possible. The HTPC has access to both our public (Internet) network as well as our private (Intranet) network and we use the BDXL feature to burn quad layer disks of our backups which we like to keep on at least 3 different formats.

I hope this drive lasts longer than the last one (different brand). It lasted several years but was only used about 50 times.
Luis –
This product is just a blu-ray burner not a 4K bluray player

works fine good luck finding an enclosure for it. Nice if there was something annotated for that.
