I upgraded to this from a Neewer NW-700 and the difference is amazing. Paired this with a cloudlifter and a Motu M2 and every recording is crystal clear. Surprisingly heavy so get a good mic arm. And for my voice, it works way better than the Shure SM7B and costs less than half. Right now it’s on sale for ~$100. GET IT! for that price the quality is insane!

I’ve used the Presonus PD-70 in my setup for over two years. This thing is a heavy tank of a mic, but it does sound good. It’s nearly identical to an SM7B with both the high pass and presence switches on (the PD-70 has no switches itself). It does take the “big muff” windscreen for an SM7B if you need more plosive protection and to dull it down a little to get that podcast voice sound. The single yoke works great. There is a good bit of handling noise and does not make a great stage mic for live music, but if you have a strong enough boom to hold it and don’t touch it then this will work great. I’m using this as my daily driver for all Zoom meetings through a Behringer UMC204HD and it handles the mic just fine with the gain at 3 o’clock no problem. Recorded female vocals with it through a Presonus Revelator io24 into a Mac and sounded great. For the money, you can have two PD-70s, a Revelator Io24, and cables for around the price of some other broadcast mics. Bonus: the Revelator has onboard processing to eq your mics if you take a little time to set it up. Double bonus: the Revelator has some pretty advanced routing if you’re teaching over Zoom or Twitch streaming. I know this is not a Revelator review, but it does pair nicely. I bought two more PD-70s because I got tired of borrowing the one from my daily workstation.

This is really up there with other dynamic mics you might consider, like the SM7B, at a fraction of the cost. Iโm really impressed! Sound quality is great – clean signal, minimal design. Tone might vary based on voice and thereโs no adjustment on-board, but great to route into a preamp or boost with OD on a DAC.

Whenever I mix this mic (or sing into it), it has a weird sound to it. And it never sounds good. But just doing normal talking into it sounds fine. Great buy, but would not recommend for vocals, or trying to mix vocals.

I have used this for work and some music-making over the past few weeks. It’s solidly built and looks great. It sounds really good on my work calls and webinars I’ve been hosting recently. It’s not really set up for music from the sounds of it, but I use it for demoing because it’s always plugged in. I have other vocal/music-specific mics for that need. Great value

I bought this first without buying any In Line Pre Amp. I have a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen. I highly and 100% recommend buying a Pre Amp with it. I had to put the whole gain all the way up without the Pre Amp and yeah it worked but the gain was so loud, static, etc. I mean unless you have a more powerful Audio Interface you should def be okay. The Scarlett Solo DB maxs out I wanna say to 45DB? I suggest 55 or higher unless you wanna pay a little more to get a Pre Amp. I bought the Fethead and it works wonderfully. I mean I’ve only had it now for a day, tested it out for a bit and my friend in discord/stream said it sounded more louder and clearer then my old AT2020 XLR. Other than that, the mic is a TANK. Looks good, sounds good. I don’t have any complaints right now. If anything changes I will update the review.

Most important thing to note is that this microphone is EXTREMELY HEAVY (over 800 g) and will probably need you to buy a new microphone boom arm to support its weight (I ended up ordering theย
Samson MBA-38
)!! So factor that cost into your equation.
I only just got this mic today and did a little bit of testing with it, hooking it up to myย
Audient Evo 4
. The sound quality is very good & felt extremely natural to me (dynamic mics often have a very “broadcast-y” sound to them). This mic does require a lot of gain though: I had to set my EVO 4 to max gain (+50 dB) and even then I could get decent levels only if the mic was about 7-8 cms (~3 inches) from my mouth.
Background sound rejection is good, but not great.
Will update this review later with detailed impressions after using the mic some more.

Klanglich ein gutes Mikrofon, aber da ich es nicht in meiner Handhalten konnte, war es am Ende fรผr mich nicht geeignet.

I took a chance on this, having been after a good quality but affordable broadcast dynamic mic for quite a while. The “go to king” is of course the Shure SM7B but I didn’t want to spend that much and went for the PD-70 instead. It’s a brilliant sounding mic and on par with broadcast microphones that cost far more. It’s a solid build as well, heavy and feels like it can take quite a beating. You definitely don’t want to drop this thing on your foot ! My only criticism is that it’s a little light on the low end, but nothing EQ can’t fix. Overall, it’s an excellent option if you’re after a broadcast dynamic that not only looks the part but also sounds amazing.

So, I bought this microphone to improve the audio quality of my twitch and YouTube content. I’ve got it plugged into an Audient ID4 MK2 audio interface and I am blown away by just how good this microphone is.
Build Quality
Just from picking this microphone up and holding it in my hand, I can tell its well built. It’s solid and very heavy. Can’t complain at all.
Set Up
Setting this up was a breeze for me. Just plugged it into my audio interface, altered the gain to my liking and it was done and ready to use in OBS. The thing I like aswell is, you don’t really need to apply any filters in OBS either because it doesn’t pick up background noise (from what I can hear at least) and already sounds great out the box.
Sound Quality
Again, really good. Very clear and very natural sounding. I used to hate how my voice sounded through microphones because it would either sound really high pitched or really low pitched, this sounds perfect.
Final Comments
I honestly feel bad for people who have bought a more expensive microphone when this exists. When paired with a high end audio interface, it sounds just as good if not better than something like the SM7B from Shure. Presonus once again have proved that you don’t have to spend loads of money to have excellent quality, I will definitely be making more purchases from them. So yes, I absolutely reccomend this microphone to any kind of content creator out there.

I recently acquired the PreSonus PD-70 Dynamic Vocal Microphone, and I must say that it has left a lasting impression on me. With its exceptional build quality, impressive sound reproduction, and competitive performance, it has quickly become a go-to choice for my broadcasting, podcasting, and live streaming needs.
First and foremost, the build quality of the PreSonus PD-70 is outstanding. The microphone feels solid and well-constructed, exuding a sense of durability that inspires confidence. The robust build ensures that it can withstand the rigors of regular use and transportation without compromising its performance.
When it comes to sound quality, the PD-70 truly shines. Its dynamic vocal microphone design captures the nuances and richness of the human voice with remarkable precision. The microphone delivers clear, crisp audio with excellent clarity and minimal background noise. This impressive sound reproduction enhances the overall quality of my recordings and broadcasts, ensuring a professional and immersive experience for my listeners.
Unfortunately, the microphone’s weight is a notable inconvenience. It feels heavier compared to other microphones in its class, which can become a burden during extended recording sessions or when using the microphone handheld. The added weight may lead to fatigue or discomfort, especially if you need to hold the microphone for an extended period.
Despite the weight concern, it is worth mentioning that the build quality of the PD-70 remains solid. The microphone feels durable and well-constructed, ensuring longevity and reliability even with regular use.
