These are very, very nice for the price. The condensers get a very nice quiet noise floor and capture the tone of my cymbals very well. I play a bit darker-sounding cymbal set than most and I like to get a bit more upper-mid range in the condensers. These have the warmth to capture that. Actually the two condensers and the kick mic are a pretty adequate rig.

The kick mic is not a Beta 52. Don’t let your imagination go crazy. With inside the drum micing it particularly shines – middle of the drum aimed at the beater impact point. Give a steep parametric boost around 8k and keep the rest flat for a nice tap and punch. There is plenty of body and low end. You may want to roll some of that off for certain types of music. It does particularly well outside the resonant head without a hole. It is very “present” in even a crowded mix because the low frequency boost is a wide spectrum. Be careful to EQ out some space for the bass guitar or you will have a VERY muddy mix with this mic. Like I said…it isn’t a Beta 52. There is no “set it and forget it” here. With some care this is a useful mic and an improvement over using a vocal mic (or SM57).

The mounts aren’t my favorite as they take considerable space above the drum. Some setups would be more forgiving with this but space is tight on my recording rig. They do, however allow the placement that I like to use with a boom stand -1″ above the rim aimed at the impact point. The tone is fine. Tune your drums and you will get nice sounds out of these…comparable to the Shure PGs or most decent dynamic vocal mics. I still prefer the SM57 on the snare. It’s a bit hotter and at the same gain captures more of the instrument.

I’m really cheap in this wonderful age of budget music gear. I don’t have a lot of expendable $ for microphones. Do you? If you do, check out the set with 3 SM57s and a Beta 52 and add two SM81s or get all fancy with a pair of AKG 414s. You will get in that setup for $600-$2000. Your four-piece kit will be in heaven and you can spend less time EQ-ing your mics and more time driving your 911 Turbo. Otherwise, pick this set up, check out some YouTube vids on mic placement and using a parametric EQ and start saving up for your 911 Turbo.

Didn’t really know what to expect from these, but I needed to mic a real kit for a project (usually run samples on a e-kit), and bought these to at least get use through the first couple of tracks. I figured at worse I could use them for live gigs, and not worry about racking up expensive mic’s.

They have nice build quality, as well as the case. The clips could be a little sturdier, but they get the job done, and can accommodate SM57’s if you have the right style mic clip.

The mic’s themselves sound fantastic, especially considering the price range. Used the full setup on my Yamaha stage custom studio kit, with great results. Would definitely recommend for someone on a budget.

I used the kick mic a few times live, to boost the kick a little. It worked great for adding a little thump.

I will probably end up upgrading the kick mic to a D112, and continue using the rest of the kit until I get a few more projects out the door. Will definitely keep these on hand as a backup.

    I highly recommend!

I bought 2 of these packs, one in 2011 and another in 2014. I use these mics to record ONLY, so if you need a live sound review, look elsewhere. I’ve had these mics on my big maple toms as they didn’t sound that great on my snare which is primarily a 14×10 mahogany beast with wood hoops. It sounds fatter than Kim Kardashians back side. As of February 2020, one of the mics started picking up this NASTY distorted buzz. After unscrewing the cap, I found that the glue had come undone and the internals were rattling around in the grille. That is the first and only problem I’ve had with them after 9 and 5 years, respectively. Tit. entire kit costs around the same as ONE sm57 or Audix i5. That’s a pretty good return on investment.

I compress my drums pretty heavily and run them through some mild distortion and a bit of reverb. These mics handle that scenario very well. I also hit my mics sometimes and they hold up to the abuse from the rock sticks I use.

The sound quality, imo, is pretty darn good so long as you like a warm, fat low end with decent mids and muted highs. It works for me. As long as you have a decent sounding mixer or interface, you can get clean recordings. Is there a difference between these and more expensive boutique mics? Of course. But if you’re on a budget and don’t mind experimenting with compression and eq, these boys can hold their own in a recording environment.

I have to say for the ultra low-price, you are getting a METAL CASE FOAM PADDED with LOCKING HATCHES, HIGH QUALITY MICS MADE OF MAGNESIUM METAL HOUSING AND GOLD XLR PINS, VERY TIGHT AND EXCELLENT DRUM MOUNT CLIPS WITH METAL SCREWS, MIC STAND ADAPTER (with convertible size from mini to a 5/8th standard mic stand diameter)…

The attention to detail on the mics are great. At first, I thought the mics were plastic housing with plastic mesh… ONCE I RECEIVED IT, I KNEW I WAS WRONG…. ALL THE MICS are magnesium body and are quite weighty for their size. the metal body is actually quite thick, and feels rugged. All the XLR pins are indeed gold plated… The meshes are all metal with built-in windscreen on the under-side of the mesh…

For the price, the construction and durability of the Pyle Pros seems to be top-notch!

The quality of the mics are very similar to the 7-piece AUDIX drum mic kit, but at the cost much much less…

EXCELLENT QUALITY for recording with the right EQs and recording settings.. With all the mics, it really give an excellent soundstage playing it back… (((*** I am using an AKG Q701 and AKG K702 and AudioTechnica M50 for playback)))

The only mics that NEED PHANTOM POWER are the overhead condensers. All the tom/snare and the bass drum mics are dynamic mics and can run with out phantom power. Having said that, you can run the tom/snare and bass drum mics with either XLR to XLR cable or a XLR to 1/4″ cable….

I also found the condenser mic to be bit multi-functional… (Since I don’t use the included overheads for my drum recording (I used my old pair of SM57s), I am using the Pyle Pro condensers on my PC as a general Skype conferencing microphone, and it works GREAT as a speaking microphone…

The drum mounts are VERY EXCELLENT… It is EXTREMELY TIGHT snap on your drum rims… In my case, I am recording my Yamaha Birch Custom Absolutes which has die-cast rims, and it clips on extremely well. I also tried the mounts on my Yamaha Recording Custom which has the triple-flanged Dynahoops, and snaps on just as well as my Yamaha BCAs…

The only downside with the mic mount is that taking it off require a bit of a force…. And since I constantly changing my drumkits for recording different genres, getting the clip off can be a bit troublesome… (If you are using the mics on just ONE drumkit, then it should be no problems….

I really like the metal case.. It feels good, and I do not have to worry about bumps and putting my drums on top of the case in the back of my trunk when I go for a live gig (Yes, I also used these for Live as well)…

For the price, getting the metal case is an ultra-bonus. From other competing brands, you are only going to get a soft case or a plastic molded hard case and it would actually cost around $200…

With the price of the Pyle Pros approx $120, you are getting High-Qualty Magnesium Mics, Good Designed Clips, Metal Case etc.. is a STEAL

    FORGET ABOUT THE BIG BRANDS…

Get the NOBODY KNOWS BRAND : Pyle Pro, and snicker at other people who spent loads of money on getting the BIG BRANDS, but SAME QUALITY!

Higher Price DOES NOT EQUALS TO Higher Quality

The Pyle Pro PDKM7s are CHEAP and are EXCELLENT QUALITY…

    My recommendation is BUY NOW!!!!

Spiele oft mit Kopfhรถrer, was ja zu verstehen ist, und hab alles was Mikrofon ist genommen was ich zu Hause hatte, sogar die von der Playstation ๐Ÿ˜‰ .
