The latching mechanism has 2 serious design flaws:
1. The lack button is a different color which draws the babies attention to it
2. The button is in a place that allows baby to use gravity to open the latch
Our baby was able to open the gate at 11 months old. This gate is blocking our stairs, so if he gets through it is a serious safety hazard. The button should be less obvious or the unlocking mechanism should be more complicated.
Sturdiness of the gate is good. Baby just stands there shaking it trying to get through and it hasn’t broken yet.
Installation is a bit of a pain because you can’t screw in the brackets when they are attached to the gate, and it is a little tricky to get the 2 brackets to align properly when they are not attached.

The metal feels a tad flimsy, but other than that I’d say it’s a good and useful gate. The locks work well, it’s been difficult for my toddler to figure out. It has tabs on the bottom of the door so it can swing either way, one way or not at all it’s easy to install. Looks decent (as far as baby gates go).

This gate nicely fit the entrance to my country deck. The gate keeps my dogs in and other critters out. I like the side supports, which provide 4 screws each side to secure the gate itself. Admittedly, I would have liked them better if the screw holes had been provided with caps to keep the rain out. And I like the bottom “locks”. The gate is well made. I recommend it if it fits your opening.

Our first gate came with part of it snapped but the merchant sent us a new one. We have gotten it installed and absolutely love it! Such a great price point for such a large baby gate. It does its job and gates off stairs so baby can’t get to them. It’s mounted into the wall and seems very sturdy. We have a lively toddler who hangs all over and it is holding up great. The lock feature slides over and is manual. I wish I would have seen that because I was expecting it to be able to be swung shut and automatically click the lock. But that’s okay! It doesn’t take but a second to slide the lock over.

This worked out perfectly for our front entry. Two small Yokies love to run to the front door every time we open it. This will help keep them inside and safe. I was fortunate that the gate sections matched pretty close to the borderline of our tile entry. See photo and video.
My only complaint is that the installation is rather permanent. The only way to remove it would be to unscrew the wall brackets. Not a big deal, but I had an older gate that could easily be lifted away from the wall brackets. I may try to figure out a different method to attach the gate to the wall so it can be removed and reattached without any tools. Then again I may just say “un-screw it!” One nice feature is that the door can open in or out. There are small tabs on the bottom of the gate that can be set so the gate opens only one direction, or it can swing both directions. Nice gate, fairly flexible design and is pretty sturdy. The latch on the gate is fine for our needs, but a toddler might be able to open it without too much difficulty. Just push down lightly on the button and slide the latch.

I purchased this gate for a 72″ opening. It fits well and was easy to adjust. I’ve noticed that several reviews indicate that installation was difficult due to the gate getting in the way. You can unscrew the knobs at the top of the gate and pull it out of the brackets until install is complete. This makes it very simple and the bars are nowhere near you while mounting the brackets.
The walkthrough door is simple to operate, and has a lock so that my baby won’t figure it out anytime soon. My dog is very thankful that her water bowl is no longer being dumped every time I turn my back.
Update: I’ve had this gate a little over a year now, and my son recently learned how to open it, so we now tie a piece of fabric around the handle to stop him. One of the top brackets cracked due to attempting to adjust the gate while it was too tight, but that was easily remedied with a couple of zip ties. Overall the gate has functioned well and held up beautifully in a house with 3 growing boys and a big dog.

You definitely get what you pay for. We got this gate for a large opening between our living and dining rooms. It was about $60 cheaper than the next cheapest option and even $75-$100 cheaper than other options so we went with it to save the money. It serves its purpose, but is very cheap/wobbly. The latch is so easy to open I can open it with one finger so I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before my child figures out how to open it too. It also didn’t come with any directions for install, however it is pretty self explanatory. It serves its purpose and for the price it definitely meets the expectations. Just hope it holds up!

I love this baby gate. We got it for our front door as our cat doubles as an escape artist. It’s very sturdy, sets up easily and accommodates various spaces comfortably. The gate is super easy to open and close with just one hand which is an added bonus.
