Great strap wrench. I bought this so that when I over tighten the chuck on my keyless chuck drill that I can remove the bit. This does the job without out destroying the chuck surface like a regular pipe wrench would. It does take a moment to understand how to wrap the strap so that it grips, but once you do, it locks in place and you can reef on the pipe, or drill chuck.

Works well the strap could be made with a stiffer material so it would hold its shape sliding up onto the filter.

I bought this to replace a shower pipe, but I couldn’t figure out how to get enough torque on the pipe to tighten it down. The strap kept on slipping when I tried to turn it. I ended up having to resort to wrapping the pipe with a towel and using vise grips. I personally would not recommend this tool as I found it frustrating to use.

Both packaging and wrench itself clearly and explicitly said “Made in USA.” Description on Amazon product page incorrectly says “made in China.”

Work perfectly! Nice quality
Amazon Customer –
Despite the great reviews and the manufacturer recommendation that it is perfect for smooth surfaces, which I interpret as the slippery Delta shower arm I am currently working with, this wrench was unable to grip the pipe. I tried every conceivable configuration without luck. If you want to see completely different takes on the one proper way to use a tool search for “how to use a strap wrench”, and find them used with apparent success in all the configurations I tried. Even the two videos I found specific to this particular wrench don’t completely agree about how it should be used. I did finally have luck by putting double-stick tape under the strap and configuring everything as shown in the first Rigid video that google turns up.

Perfect

I did not realize how useful a full-size strap wrench could be! The extra length/leverage makes the tool much more useful than the tiny rubber strap versions.

The wrench and strap looks a little different than they show but it works well. They don’t advertise this but the cloth seems resistant to high temps, I use it to remove hot suppressors.

Nothing to fault with this product other then the strap doesn’t grip as nice as nicely as others I have used ie. Reed.So if your a plumber or in my case work in Aviation field stick with a good quality tool, this is strap wrench is fine for light work at a good price .

Rough quality product with noticeable wear out of the box. Pretty cheap feel overall and not an effective tool. Strap fabric was frayed. Not the quality I expected from Ridgid.

Good product

I used this to install and remove a 1.25 inch hand shower backflow preventer as well as the under 1 inch shower hose that attaches to it. This thing has the grip of Hercules and with 1 foot of leverage you can tighten as much as you like. But more than this, I felt that I could still delicately determine how tight I wanted to adjust the fixtures so that there was no fear of over tightening them. And best of all, no marks on my chrome!
The construction of the tool is totally solid: solid aluminum bar with steel pin to attach the burly strap.
If you’re having trouble getting it to grip onto something, adjust your slack probably by adding a little more strap to the circle. You should see all strap on the cylinder you’re trying to turn. If there’s a strap gap, and your handle is pointing away from the cylinder, add strap to the circle and turn the handle more in the direction you’re trying to rotate to engage the added strap. When you have the right amount of strap in your circle the handle will create unbelievable grip after which you can apply further torque to tighten or loosen your object.
I can’t wait to use this on my first impenetrable jar of pickles previously nearly impossible to open without breaking the glass.
