Purchased to update 4 yr old LG Smart 4K TV (was having wifi connectivity issues and slow lag time). Have unit connected to modem via ethernet cable. Pro’s: Easy to install. Very quick app load times. 100x more apps to choose from over the LG options. Bluetooth remote works well with TV and Roku (line of sight with TV). Cool screen savers. Better picture quality (true 4K when available). Better sound via TV speakers (which are poor to begin with). No monthly cable bills and I can watch local channels!!! Cons: more $$ than other wireless options, but I wanted a hard line into TV to leave more bandwidth available for other home use (using shaw 300 mbps). No complaints. Great purchase.

The product built with quality. main reason getting this player is it is one of the brand that supported Disney+, but unfortunatedly it does not work at Singapore. There is no news at the moment when Disney+ can be installed on this palyer (had verified with Disney+ Singapore customer support)

If you are looking to stream HBOMAX, amc+, Hulu, STARZ, CW, cwseed , peacockTV, imbdTV etc, then this is for you. It supports Dolby Atoms and Vision. Please note you canโ€™t install VPN so you will need to configure/ install on router itself. It has LAN, recommended to use LAN so it wonโ€™t buffer. Quality of video is excellent and in-par with Apple4kTv. Packing was good and got genuine and sealed product.

I have always used Fire TV Sticks and been happy, mostly steaming Netflix, but then I cut the cable, went with Direct TV Stream and purchased two (newer compared to my older model) Fire TV 4K Max Sticks. My satisfaction level then immediately dropped to the point where my continual frustrations, unfortunately for my wife, were not suffered in silence. With very little in the way of program usage, I had to constantly force-stop and delete the cache of my apps to work and the only thing worse than the painstakingly slow pace of its response to remote input, was the unbelievably poor accuracy of its cuing when fast-forwarding through commercials of recorded programs or even backing up when watching live TV. When I researched alternative streaming devices, Roku units were always highly recommended so I took the plunge after communicating with their customer support people over several questions and I am blown away by every aspect of the Ultraโ€™s abilities. It is intuitive, lightning fast in response to input, the remote is exponentially superior to my previous streamerโ€™s remote, it cuing is precise, its free live-TV is an incredible complimentary benefit and my only regret is that I waited so long to replace my agonizingly incapable 4K Max units. I will replace my two other streamers with the Roku Ultra units by the end of the week. I had no idea how well a streaming unit could actually function and perform until I installed this Ultra, which seems to have an incredible abundance of memory, speed and ability compared to what I was using when I didnโ€™t know betterโ€ฆ

After buying a couple of Roku TVs, and realizing how great they are, I finally decided to cut her cable and convert my two โ€˜olderโ€™ TVs.

My first was a Sony that weโ€™ve hade for a long time and I used this product because I have an Ethernet connection inside the cabinet under the TV. I prefer to have TVs connected using Ethernet so as to reduce the traffic on my WiFi. This product has both WiFi and Ethernet so a big plus there.

Installing the Roku was easy, my HDMI cables were already in place. I really enjoyed replacing the huge, heavy and very warm cable box (good riddance ). With the Ethernet connection, the install is rather boring. I plugged it in and was left to complete the installation using the remote.

The next part of the install was to set up the TVs 1080p screen and the remote. My TV is 1080p and the device discovered that and set it automatically. I was very pleased that Roku remote can power and set the sound natively without having to use the TVโ€™s remote. After years of using multiple remotes and the kludgy CableTV remote, it all works as one! Iโ€™m particularly pleased that since AppleTV and AirPlay are supported, that knocks another remote to the curb.

Going through the device setup is easy and Roku will ask questions about your preferences in order to tailor some of the apps/channels it puts on your Home Screen. It takes a few minutes and is very straightforward.

One thing that I really love about this Roku is the remote. It has the voice control (works great to turn on and off subtitles or switch channels, for example) and a headphone jack for private listening. Honestly, the most satisfying part of the remote is itโ€™s feel. It is a bit weightier than the Roku remotes I got with my Roku TVs and just feels great in my hand. I wish Roku made the TV manufacturers using the Roku OS also use the nicer remote. I just love the remote, even if first timers always ask how to change the volume!

Finally, using this as a reason to get deep into the TV cabinet and behind the TV, I was amazed how heavy (and dusty) that TV is. The newer TVs are so light and thin! This Sony is a helluva workhorse tho, and the picture is flawless albeit 1080p. I think it will be a while before there is enough 4K or 8k programming out there to make a difference.

This Roku device is a fabulous product that gave new life to my โ€˜olderโ€™ TV.

    Thanks for reading!

I really like the Roku Ultra. But one thing it does is not reported in the comments here. The remote has a large IR head on it, but it doesnโ€™t need the IR to talk to the base unit. Itโ€™s connected by a radio connection also. This is really handy as you donโ€™t need the remote pointed at the base unit at all. You can even be in the next room and it will work. This is nice for normal use, and really important if you want to hide the base unit behind a cabinet door. The remote will still talk to the base unit even when it canโ€™t see it.
