I’m a fan of Sabrent products.. I use their NVME drives in my PC builds as well as a handful of other accessories and I have always found their products to be of good quality. This one is a little disappointing for me.
The build quality is good and it fits perfectly on my Steam Deck (without any cover on it) and the connection is good and secure. The main problem I have is that about 75% of the time I cannot get it to charge my Steam Deck when the hub is connected and I plug my charger in to the USB-C port. I will use the stock charging cable for the Deck and the majority of the time the Deck will not charge if this hub is connected. I will unplug it and plug it back in many, many times before it will eventually start to charge. I’ve tried other USB cables and chargers and I get the same result. Seems like I may have just gotten a faulty unit. Disappointing as the main reason I wanted this hub was to direct the charging cable away from my hands while I am playing.

Sabrent is known for making reliable quality products and this is no exception. This USB-C/A hub is perfect for your Steam Deck. I really love how thoughtfully it was designed to tuck behind the deck. No ugly tentacles of cables emerging from the top of the deck. This lets you power your deck with the PD USB-C port, and allows you to utilize the two USB-A ports to expand your memory or find other use cases. You can easily connect a controller and have it charge at the same time which is my use case. My only regret is that I would have loved if they swapped out one USB-A port for an HDMI port which would allow you to connect your deck to your TV or monitor thus avoiding the need for a bulky stand with all those ports. Maybe the form factor didn’t allow them to do that, but I doubt it. It works perfectly and is portable enough where you can leave it on even when not connected to any cables. It’s simple enough to plug and play. It’s a really good product that could have been great.

This Sabrent USB hub for the Steam Deck worked with a USB keyboard and USB trackball mouse, while allowing me to charge. I don’t have any protective cover around my Deck and the fit was perfect. The only issue I had was that it would not charge if I had the keyboard and mouse plugged in first, then added the USB-C Steam Deck charger. What I discovered was that plugging the charger in first resulted in the charging indicator activating, and thereafter I could plug my peripherals in and it would keep charging. I like how this hub also fits in my mesh charger bag with my original charger, which I can still tuck into the carrying case that came with the Deck. I will also say that I’ve purchased many other Sabrent products such as hard drive docks, SATA drive to USB adapters, and drive enclosures, and I’ve never had a Sabrent product die on me. I know and trust the brand. This hub is a good product at a good price point.

Item has been out of stock for some time, was able to reach out via a Reddit comment, rep informed they would be in stock soon kept an eye out and snatched it before it sold out again, showed up early packaged well, will mention if it doesn’t I. The Amazon listing that it fits BARE SteamDecks no covers/case I have a rubber one on mine but a little trimming it fits with no issues! Works beautifully I can now charge my SD and use a mouse and keyboard or add more storage via usb stick possibilities are endless! Well constructed solid piece doesn’t budge when plugged in!

Pretty easy to use product. It has passthrough power for charging while it’s plugged in and it’s light so it’s not putting a big strain on your steam decks usb c port. Games I’ve run off an ssd work great with this but the main reason I bought it is for using with an external windows install. That works without issue. Obviously if you’re using the official steam deck carrying case this your deck will not fit in there with this installed.

Product works more or less as described, but I was disappointed to find none of the ports allow my Rokid Max AR glasses to work once connected through this dock. The whole reason I bought it was to be able to connect a keyboard, mouse, and my glasses. Keyboard and mouse work, glasses do not, no matter which port I use. Unfortunately it’s no use to me for that reason, but not really worth sending back either.

It’s nice that it moves the charging port and allows me to hot swap USB Drives to my Steam Deck. I’ve even copied Games from Windows to a flash drive and played on my Steam Deck. Very nice.

Product works great… But if you have a protective case you will have to trim some. Also it won’t fit in stock Oled case that comes with deck.
