Me gustó que no daña las paredes o donde se instala y es muy fácil de instalar siguiendo las instrucciones. Flexibilidad para ajustarlos a diferentes tamaños según las necesidades, y bastante resistente. Yo lo compré para mi perro (un Border Collie cachorro), y me ha funcionado perfectamemte. Sólo hay que acostumbrarse a cómo abrir la puerta (que está sobre todo diseñada para que niños pequeños no la abran).

I personally like the gave for the purpose I had in mind: keeping two Shih-tzu out of the living room. It is 90% metal and 10% injection molded plastic/resin. I feel that if this gate is used by a single person, and with patience, not hurrying, or forcing the latch, it should work. Because it is a plastic, spring loaded mechanism for the latch, a family of 4 or five, and lots of thru-traffic, I can see that the mechanism would likely fail quickly. I will come back and make an update should the gate fail. There is a registration card for this Gate to register your product. I would NOT put this at the top of stairs since the pieces that are on the walls are slick, not rubbery, and do not cling. Pressure over 15lbs or so will make this gate move. A toddler, medium dog, or someone trying to get through and losing balance would definitely risk displacing the gate from its placement, and falling down the stairs. If the gate can be placed at the bottom of the stairs, away from the staircase, but blocking access, that would be the best location. The other option is finding another attachments online that anchor the gate to the wall with permanence, like long wood screws or drywall mounts. The latch need to be worked in two steps. 1. Push a spring loaded button 2. Press a spring loaded button. The springs are hard for arthritic thumbs to work. There are screws on one side of the latch where the mechanism can be accessed and replaced. I like this feature. The gate can open in two directions, but small stoppers on the bottom of the gate can be flipped down to secure the gate to be only accessible from one side. This is a nice feature for stairs, if you anchor it properly. It is also nice when you have small dogs who want to dart through it. Opening it towards them gives them less of a chance to dart through. As far as how “sturdy” this gate is, it is as sturdy as it will be treated. If a 100lb dog jumps on it day after day, it won’t last. If 5 people are passing through it 25 time EACH every day, it will not last long. However, for pricepoint, and material(not wooden, not all metal, not professionally installed), it is more sturdy than I expected. The bars are bigger in diameter than I expected, and they are welded in place on a metal framed gate door. Many gate have the bars loose, and many have one side of the gate being plastic. This gate has replaced a piece of unpainted, old, plywood. After a year of moving it back and forth, I decided this was better. The plywood protected the molding from the puppy through teething, and allowed her to scratch to no avail when she was left in the kitchen. This gate will hold her in, and will allow easier access to each room. It took me a total of 20 minutes to unbox, remove the plywood to the garage, place the 4 pressure pieces in place, get all four pressures to work to make the gate frame square, and then to clear away the box, two extra rods and plastic extensions for a larger doorframe. My doorframe is only 29 inches wide because this is an older home, ranch style. I did not need to read the directions to install this gate – it is simple. The product is described as extra tall and extra wide. Whilst it is tall, it isn’t actually extra wide. It comes in four pieces, which is deceitful as I would have bought a different product had I known it wasn’t all one “extra wide piece”. We needed one that was one solid piece so it wouldn’t be wobbly. We already had a gate that wasn’t stable and that’s why we wanted an extra wide gate that was one piece. Other than that, the gate itself seems like good quality.

UPDATE, 3/09/17:I have now had and used this product long enough to update my prior review and I want to do so even though my prior review was “excellent.” First, I confirm that the product is, indeed “excellent.” Next I note that some features which I either had not thought were included, or which I thought I’d have to become accustomed to using, either are actually there or took a very minimal time to get used to. The gate works smoothly and can be shut without effort. We use it numerous times a day and it has not even needed to be adjusted, even though we let it kind of slam shut.We will be moving shortly and it is likely that we will need one or more additional gates. I will absolutely purchase the same one(s)! In fact, if were sure as to what I’ll need, especially the sizes, I’d make the purchase now just in case they become unavailable for whatever reason. The following remarks are what I wrote when I published my review the first time: Over the almost 50 years of married life, I feel as if I’ve purchased every type and make of gates, to use for children, grandchildren and pets. None of them have proven practical and useful and/or have held up for what I consider a reasonable length of time, and many were far more costly Most of them had “weak”spots which broke. I installed this one 4 days ago. It seems quite durable. At least I don’t see any potential “weak” spots. For me, the only downside is the latch operation. It appears to close tightly, which, of course, is a very positive feature. I like the options offered. You can set it up to swing open either or both ways, and there’s a latch at the bottom that controls your opening and latching options, and serves as an additional locking feature. However I find it very difficult to unlock/open one handed as two things have to be pressed simultaneously. This is especially problematic if you are carrying anything, which we virtually always are, as only one hand is free. I am practicing using one hand and, hopefully, will later be able to do so more easily. I have another gate which only has one latch to press and the gate swings closed. However that has its pros and cons: easier to open and lock but the lock is not as secure and, if I am carrying something, I have to rush to get through before it swings closed. The double latching requirements make this one much harder for little ones to operate, but for now also harder for me. I’m not concerned about our little Yorkie, smart as she is, learning how to unlock it! So I highly recommend it if little ones are around and l suspect I will do the same, with more practice, if purchased just for pets. I don’t know how well it would withstand a big Lab, etc., but I suspect it would, and only time and use will tell for sure if its durability surpasses my experiences with other gates.

The gate seems very sturdy and it was very easy to install and operates well. We like the option to open in one direction or another or in both directions (see circle on image). This is particularly useful if using on stairway openings.
This is not our first and only child safety gate, but it is our favorite so far!

Me gusta que se abra la puertita para que puedas pasar sin tener que brincarla o quitarla toda, tiene doble seguro, uno arriba y otro abajo. No se necesita taladro para instalarla, se sujeta a presión. La compré para separar a mis perros, son tranquilos, y funciona para ellos, no la pueden brincar, pero creo que para un perro muy ágil no funcionaría, es resistente, no la pueden morder

I bought 2 of these, one if for kitchen and one is for dining room. Both were very easy to install and very secure. However, after like 6months, kitchen one had its slide lock broken and I managed to just get primary lock working. But that also stuck open now and have to manually unstuck the lock. And if you don’t pay attention, gate won’t get locked properly. Found pieces of plastic inside the lock when I removed it. This is in high traffic area and adults in the house always bang this one close. Lock seems easy to replace if I could find parts which I couldn’t. Still try to find some parts, just don’t want to buy a new gate. Other one in the dining room holding up well. Overall pretty good product. You just need the adults to be mindful of using it. Hope this helps.
