I was having a hard time setting it up at first, chewing out Samsung technical support. But once I figured everything out, I discovered this is an excellent soundbar—beautiful crisp sound with just enough base. Just make sure to learn how to use the sound controls. YouTube will help you with all that. Moreover, make sure to hook your cables up right, and update it with SmartThings app.

I bought an 85″ Samsung to fill a space properly; the 65″ did not do it justice. While I had a soundbar for the 65″, I elected to add this.
You will not be disappointed. The quality is 3x what I expected, the auto-setup made it a breeze. Not only is video better, my streaming music is even more.

My old sound bar died, so I first tried a Bose sound bar. The nine year old 4K Samsung TV would not recognize the Bose sound bar using the HDMI cable (ARC). I had to manually go in and try to “connect” it each time via the menu setting of the TV. And then it either failed to connect, produce sound, or be able to control the sound level. It would work 1 out of 8 tries after powering off and back on and then manually connecting through the menu. (I’m not including the hours of troubleshooting that took place.) Needless to say the Bose sound bar got returned. The Samsung HW-Q800C instantly got recognized by the “old” Samsung TV and works and sounds great. The sub-woofer was also recognized right away. Obviously Samsung products are more compatible with older models than Bose. Something to consider if you have an older TV.

One of the main reasons I bought this soundbar was so I can use it with an Alexa Echo for a multi-room set up, where I can play music simultaneously in multiple rooms. While the soundbar will receive Alexa commands, it will not work with a multi-room setup. I say this after having spent a half-hour with Samsung support and then another 1 hour+ with Alexa support, with each saying it’s the other’s fault. So I’m returning the Alexa Echo and hoping that this soundbar will work well with an Apple Airplay 2 multi-room setup (I just ordered the Apple Homepod Mini). That said, the soundbar itself is great, in terms of sound quality, ease of setup, and remote app control.

From the get go, would not work with an XBox. Initially thought this was only an XBox issue, but as I started watching AppleTV, sound just started dropping randomly. Q-Symphony would only play from the TV speakers and not from the soundbar (so you only hear the rustling of surround sound, no speech). Spent an hour on the line with support – no fix. Also, now out of warrantee- so Samsung will not fix their faulty product. (Only had it for 7 months).
Stay away – worst electronics purchase I have made. Hello LG and Bose!

the small sub sounds good, the enclosure isn’t the greatest quality but gets down low and stays clear even at high volume, the sound bar isn’t really directional but it sounds good and it looks really great.
the Bluetooth function has underlying noise, could be interference from my end but I didn’t have anything in the room that could cause interference besides power cables that came with it

(This review is from the opinion of someone going from a Polk Audio S2 soundbar in a living room approximately 15×15 that’s open to our kitchen.)
First and foremost… Wow… The audio quality, especially the dialogue from any streaming service is exquisite. Keeping all the settings at default is still very impressive. Adjusting them to your liking is simple (especially if you have a Samsung phone), and is very intuitive. I have a Samsung TV, and the “Q-Symphony” setting DOES make a difference, but don’t spend close to $700 just because of this feature. You’ll be disappointed. I don’t have the additional back surround speakers, but just with the soundbar and sub, it’s very, very nice. At close to $700 I can assure you the audio quality is exactly what you’re paying for, and if this price point suits your budget, you won’t be disappointed. As stated, the dialogue is the most impressive for me. You won’t miss any conversation in your TV shows or movies. The sound in general is loud, clear, deep, authentic, and crisp. Not to mention the 9in sub hits hard and deep. I dare to say it is close to my 10in Polk Audio sub I have for my basement “true surround sound”. If you are part of the Samsung family, (phone, headphones, tv’s, etc.) definitely consider buying this. Truly, it’s a fantastic soundbar, that I don’t plan on replacing it for a very long time.

I did a lot of research before purchasing and after seeing Samsung score better on multiple tests against Bose and Sonos soundbars, I decided to go with this one and I couldn’t be happier. The bass is loud and I don’t even have it turned up all the way. It’s a huge improvement from the Vizio set I had before which was riddled with issues from the start. I have only had it for two weeks, but so far I haven’t had any problems. It was very easy to a set up and the sound is amazing. It’s pricey, but worth it.
